Young Lives Foundation are recruiting volunteer wellbeing mentors (living in Kent) to support young people through one-to-one mentoring. 
 
Their mentors provide consistent, positive support to a young person, helping them build confidence, resilience, and life skills. No formal qualifications are required, and full training, safeguarding checks, and ongoing support are provided.
 
They’re looking for people who are:

• Reliable and committed
• Good listeners with empathy and patience

The commitment is typically around 1–2 hours per week, for a minimum of 6 months.

As a Project Support Volunteer, you will support the local team to provide day-to-day as well as ongoing support to their clients, adding to their capacity and reach.

You will be supporting us with all or some of the following tasks:

• Covering reception, meeting and greeting clients and visitors, handling their queries and recording information.

• Answering the phone, directing calls and relaying messages.

• Signposting clients to relevant activities and team and supporting them moving around as appropriate.

Who you are
You’ll bring deep understanding of charity governance, preferably with experience of chairing a
complex not-for-profit organisation. With strong leadership and facilitation skills, you bring tact,
diplomacy, and the ability to bring people together and support an effective and accountable Board.
We’re seeking excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills and the ability to operate
effectively in an ambassadorial role. Some familiarity with, and broad understanding of, the
requirements and dynamics of social media communications will be an advantage.
Credibility and senior leadership experience appropriate to chairing a high-profile humanitarian
organisation will be important, together with a strong and visible commitment to Choose Love, and
an informed passion for the rights and needs of displaced people.

Time commitment
The expected time commitment is approximately two to three days per month. Candidates must
have the capacity to commit sufficient time to fulfil the responsibilities of the role, including

strategic change. Good administrative and staff support will be available to the Chair and to the
Board.

Our volunteers play a vital role in helping halow’s young people enjoy new experiences, build friendships, and take part in activities they love.

As a Gardening Volunteer, you’ll support our kitchen allotment, helping to plan, grow, and care for a variety of vegetables, fruits, flowers, and plants. The produce grown can be used in our cooking sessions or shared with local community groups. Although our offices are based in Guildford, we welcome volunteers from various places, as opportunities for their support arise all over Surrey. They are not expected to come to us with any previous experience; all we ask for is commitment and a willingness to work with our young people.

About Us

The Thalidomide Trust is a unique organisation supporting beneficiaries, now all in their 60s, born with disabilities as a result of their mother taking the drug, thalidomide, during pregnancy.

Our beneficiaries have very complex and varied needs which are increasing as they age. We have gained an in-depth understanding of their evolving needs through our high level of contact with beneficiaries and our structured programme of three-yearly Holistic Needs Assessments (HNAs).

Commitment

• This is a voluntary role, but reasonable expenses incurred will be reimbursed.

Position Overview:

An exciting and unique internship opportunity to work closely with SEED Madagascar's operations team in a respected UK international development charity; this position has strong vocational content for anyone looking to break into the international development sector, with future possibilities of progression into roles in SEED.

The postholder will gain experience in international development and gain understanding and skills across a wide range of duties associated with organising international staff and volunteer training, formatting and maintaining policy and procedure documentation, supporting recruitment and job postings, and volunteer programme marketing.

The internship spans a minimum of six months and is a remote role. The diversity of activities that will be undertaken provides training for an early-career development professional who can effectively and efficiently deal with a comprehensive range of tasks related to the complex world of overseas development work.

Reporting to: Operations and Administration Officer

Location: Remote

Commitment: Part-time, two days a week for a minimum of six months – with full flexibility to choose which two days you work and the option to adjust or change those days as needed.

Responsibilities:

1. Supporting the operations team by organising training for incoming international staff, including scheduling induction and training sessions, maintaining accurate training records, and occasionally preparing and updating materials and resources.

2. Summary

The Sussex Area of the Ramblers has two Countryside Officers, one for East Sussex and one for West Sussex. The main activity in the role is to act on behalf of members where a planning development is likely to have an adverse impact on the walking environment in the Sussex countryside.

Description

The Ramblers, the Sussex Area of which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2026, is the only charity dedicated to removing barriers so everyone can enjoy walking in green spaces, and to improving Britain’s most popular and least-known walking places. We’re committed to campaigning to keep our footpaths open to all and to fighting for the things that matter most to walkers. We lead the way, and the walks, for a vibrant community united by the joys of walking, helping everyone get more out of their walks. 

The role of East Sussex Area Countryside Officer involves reviewing planning applications published by Local Authorities and creating and submitting objections on behalf of Sussex Ramblers if an application is likely to have an adverse impact on the Sussex countryside and the places where people walk. Objections may be expressed in writing through a response to the planning process, but could also involve site visits and on occasion attendance at public hearings or meetings with representatives of Local Authorities or with other stakeholders such as Parish Councils and environmental and wildlife organisations.

The role holder will work closely with other Ramblers volunteers such as the East Sussex Area Footpath Officer, the West Sussex Area Countryside Officer and Local Footpath Wardens in East Sussex and where necessary will seek advice and guidance from Ramblers' Central Office. Other main contacts include the Local Authorities, Parish/Town Councils, the South Downs National Park Authority and the East Sussex Local Access Forum. The role holder will be a member of the Area leadership team (Area Council). You will need to be a member of the Ramblers and to live in or close to East Sussex.

What Impact will you have?

The Ramblers help everyone, everywhere, enjoy walking and protects the places we all love to walk. By volunteering as an Area Countryside Officer you will be playing a vital role in making sure we can achieve this by holding Local Authorities to account for planning decisions, and helping to ensure that our countryside and the places people walk, essential to health and wellbeing, are safeguarded.

Skills and Experience Required

You should have a passion for walking and for the preservation and protection of the natural beauty of the countryside and the special qualities of urban space, and a good knowledge of the county. Experience and knowledge of the Local Authorities' planning process is not essential but would be an advantage. The role is suitable for someone who is highly reliable, organised, capable of taking initiative and with an ability to articulate strategic issues clearly in written and spoken form. A desire and ability to work in a team environment is essential. You will also need to be comfortable using a computer and the internet, and managing information.
