As a Volunteer Caseworker, you will offer practical guidance to serving personnel, veterans and their families within your local area. Full training and ongoing support are provided, and the role can fit around your existing commitments.

  • Listen to their circumstances and gather relevant information
  • Complete case reports and applications for financial assistance
  • Signpost people to specialist services, including housing or wellbeing support
  • Keep beneficiaries and the SSAFA Regional Office updated
  • Work closely with the Regional Office team for guidance and support

What we’re looking for

  • A good listener who is non-judgmental and treats everyone with dignity and respect
  • Able to communicate clearly in writing and conversation
  • Reliable and willing to keep in regular contact with your Regional Office
  • Able to maintain confidentiality and handle information appropriately
  • Comfortable using a computer, email and the internet
  • Motivated to make a difference to the Armed Forces community

What you'll gain

  • The chance to make a meaningful difference in someone's life
  • Full training and ongoing support
  • Valuable experience for personal or professional development
  • Access to learning and development opportunities
  • A welcoming and supportive volunteer community

Why volunteer with SSAFA?

SSAFA believes that no one who has served our country should ever battle alone. Our values of Commitment, Compassion, Integrity and Understanding are at the heart of everything we do, and we ask our volunteers to uphold these values alongside our BRAVE standards.

You could help someone secure specialist equipment, adapt their home to meet disability needs, access housing support, or find the right services to improve their wellbeing and quality of life.

No two cases are the same, but each one has the potential to change a life.

Ready to make a difference? Apply today and help ensure that no member of the Armed Forces community faces adversity alone.

This role is subject to volunteer vetting and eligibility checks. Full training and ongoing support are provided. Reasonable expenses will be reimbursed in line with our expenses policy.
