Stepping Stones Learning and Leisure is a small, friendly charity based in Southwark, providing inclusive activities for adults with learning disabilities. We believe everyone should have the chance to express themselves, connect with others, and take part in activities that bring joy, confidence, and new skills.

We’re currently looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Gardening Club Volunteer to support our bi weekly Monday sessions (11am-1pm), held at our allotment site in Peckham, throughout the spring and summer months.

About The Role

This role is ideal for someone who loves to get stuck in. You’ll support our gardening tutor in delivering accessible and fun gardening sessions for a small group of adults with learning disabilities. Every class will be an opportunity to learn new gardening skills, from pulling weeds to sowing seeds. With your help, we aim to provide our learners with a sense of pride and satisfaction at having nurtured a growthful space with others, whilst learning invaluable skills along the way. 

As a Gardening Club Volunteer at Stepping Stones, you will:

• Encourage and support learners
• Assist the tutor in setting up and putting away gardening tools
• Demonstrate tasks and participate alongside learners
• Undertake light manual tasks where necessary and follow health and safety guidelines
• Offer 1:1 or group support where needed to help participants engage
• Help cultivate a warm, inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels safe to express themselves

We’re looking for Communication Partners over the age of 18 years old, based across various locations in Jersey.

You’ll be volunteering: 1 hour visit to a stroke survivor once a week for a period of approx. 6 - 8 weeks. Anytime Monday to Friday, 10am – 4pm

The volunteers could be:

• If you are someone who enjoys conversation, meeting new people and likes to try new things, then this role might be a good one for you. 

• To be an effective communication partner you need great listening skills and be able to support people in an empathetic and non-judgemental way.

• Being a communication partner means you gain practical experience of working with people who have been affected by stroke, an understanding of the effects it has on them, and the challenges they face.

Can you help the Bristol Oxfam Online Shop raise money to support and empower some of the world’s most vulnerable communities?

We are looking for people with an eye for detail to help us research, prepare, photograph, describe and dispatch our homewares on Oxfam’s bespoke online shop. Our specialist online shop sells an eclectic range of clothing, accessories, books, music, film and homewares, sourced from our generous donors at Oxfam shops across the area.

We have had some very interesting homewares donations over the years, from antique postal scales to vintage bears and Wedgwood tea sets. If you know your homewares and can help us identify, price, list and photograph our stock your help will be invaluable! You will receive full training and support from our friendly and knowledgeable team.

What you can do at the shop:

We believe in empowering our volunteers so, depending on your interests and what you would like to get out of the role, you can get involved with any of the following aspects of running the online shop (and more!):

· Researching rare and valuable stock

· Selection, preparation and presentation of stock

· Photography and editing

· Creating accurate and engaging online listings

· Creating engaging content for the shop's social media platforms

· Packaging and dispatching items

Our shops are at the heart of local communities raising vital funds for our fight against homelessness and bad housing - and they’re powered by our volunteers!

Suggested Involvement: It’s up to you! We have volunteers who support for one hour a week and others who volunteer more. Many people volunteer for a morning or an afternoon each week, but we’ll have a chat about your availability after you’ve applied.

• Volunteering in a leadership role

Our volunteer supervisors help with overseeing the running of our shop and creating a fantastic environment for our customers. You may be involved with coordinating and supporting other volunteers, operating computer systems, and being a key point of contact for the shop.

Skills and Experiences Required:

We welcome applications from people with a wide range of skills and experiences. You don’t need to have volunteered or worked in a shop before as full training will be provided. What’s important to us is that you are a team player, open to learning and willing to follow Shelter Scotland’s policies and can be an excellent ambassador for Shelter Scotland. This is an opportunity to lead the protection of the vital footpaths and rights of way network across the countryside of West Sussex and ensure walking in the natural environment is accessible to everyone.

You will coordinate a team of Local Footpath Wardens and will be responsible for assessing proposals affecting paths and for developing Ramblers' response to and comments on those proposals, liaising with Ramblers' Central Office and other stakeholders as necessary.

You will represent Ramblers' Sussex Area on rights of way issues with the local authorities and at meetings and public events.

To undertake the role you will need to keep up to date with legal and policy information about paths and planning issues nationally as well as in your local area.

The skills required for the role are to be confident but diplomatic; able to understand complex rights of way and legal issues; be friendly and personable with the ability to influence; and good at presenting arguments in writing and in person.

The role will offer you the opportunity to use your existing networking skills; to develop new skills and knowledge in relation to rights of way issues; and to work with a group of fellow volunteers to influence local policy.

We are looking for a lively dynamic individual to promote the activities of Sussex Area Ramblers by regular communications with members and engaging with local media including producing press releases and responding to enquiries. 

The main purposes of the role are (1) to maintain regular communications with Sussex Area Ramblers’ members by producing articles for the Area Website and sending email communications to keep members up to date with Area activities, including developing a social media strategy and (2) to communicate (together where necessary with Ramblers' Central Office) with media in the Area, including by way of proactive press releases, and deal with media enquiries, to ensure that the activities and charitable role of the Sussex Area Ramblers are given a high profile

The Ramblers are Britain's biggest and most vibrant walking community. The Area Secretary is a key member of the Sussex leadership team, working with the Chair to ensure the team runs smoothly including managing meeting logistics and communicating with Groups in the Area.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Working with the Area Chair to arrange quarterly leadership team meetings, including producing agendas and booking the venue
• Organising the Area AGM, and producing the Annual Report
• Making sure that accurate records of decisions at meetings are produced and circulated on a timely basis
• Keeping in touch with Ramblers' Central Office, sharing news, including key communications, with the Area leadership team and Groups
• Welcoming to the Area new members of the Ramblers who live in East or West Sussex 
• As a member of the leadership team, contributing to decision-making on a wide range of issues in relation to activities across Sussex Area of the Ramblers

The Ramblers help everyone, everywhere, enjoy walking and protects the places we all love to walk. By volunteering as Area Secretary you will be paying a vital role in making sure we can achieve this. Running an efficient Sussex Area Ramblers leadership team is critical to the effectiveness of our organisation, and is part of the overall Ramblers governance. The Area Secretary is a pivotal position on the leadership team and ensures that we meet our obligations efficiently and effectively .

The ideal candidate is likely to have a passion for walking and the outdoors and a familiarity with the activities of the Ramblers and of the Sussex Area. The position is suitable for someone who is highly reliable, capable of taking initiative and with a track record of getting things done. You will need to be well-organised, good at building relationships with other members of the leadership team including the Chair, have fluent writing skills and be confident in producing agendas and decision records. You should be computer-literate and preferably have experience of using audio-visual meeting support equipment and desktop publishing software.

Upcycle Africa

We transform plastic waste into affordable, flood-resistant housing, dignified jobs, and sustainable livelihoods.

​Role Description

Upcycle Africa is seeking a passionate and results-driven Digital Fundraising & Partnerships Officer to support our mission of empowering communities through sustainability, innovation, education, and social entrepreneurship. The volunteer will help identify funding opportunities, develop partnership strategies, engage potential donors, and support grant application processes.

Responsibilities

• Research and identify grant, sponsorship, and funding opportunities.
• Support proposal and concept note development.
• Build relationships with potential donors, foundations, and corporate partners.
• Assist in creating fundraising campaigns and donor engagement strategies.

We deliver Quality Physical Education using sports and Traditional African Games to empower Ugandan youth.

• Write, edit, and continuously improve all website content
• Turn raw program data and field updates into engaging impact stories and impact reports
• Support grant applications and develop proposals and funding materials that clearly connect activities to impact
• Create clear, consistent messaging for campaigns and events across all communication channels
• Develop newsletters that keep partners, donors, and supporters informed and engaged
• Write clear, compelling copy for brochures, flyers, banners, and other print or digital promotional assets
• Write press releases, media briefs, and external announcements for key milestones or events
• Develop internal writing guidelines and templates to maintain and enforce Sembeza Africa’s brand voice across all content

Second Life

We partner with communities to collect, trace, and recycle plastic, creating jobs and preventing pollution.​

Our growth so far has been powered by corporate partnerships. But there's significant catalytic and concessional funding available for organizations doing exactly what we do, and right now we're not capturing it. We need the help of a Grant Lead to change that. 

This is a high-leverage role for an experienced development professional who knows the climate, ocean, and circular economy funding landscape, and who can turn that knowledge into successful proposals. You'll pilot the full grant lifecycle from prospecting to reporting, working directly with the CEO and Program Director.

What you'll do:

- Map the global funding landscape relevant to Second Life: bilateral aid agencies, multilateral institutions, climate funds, major foundations, corporate foundations, impact investors offering grant capital, and prize-based funders.
- Build and maintain a prioritized funder pipeline with clear fit assessment, ticket sizes, timelines, and decision-maker contacts.
- Recommend which opportunities to pursue and which to pass on.
- Read and critically review our in-progress and recently submitted grant applications; provide structured written feedback and proposed edits.
- Lead the writing of concept notes, and full proposals.
- Translate field reality (collection sites, collector incomes, recycling pathways) into the language funders use (outputs, outcomes, impact, theory of change, MEL frameworks).
- Own grant reporting timelines and deliverables across all active grants - Partner with marketing on funder-facing communications, impact stories, and thought leadership that strengthens grant competitiveness - Build internal systems: proposal templates, internal library of strong language, proof points and reusable section, AI usage etc. so this function can scale.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct evidence-based research on sustainability, development, and social impact themes
• Synthesize research findings into clear, structured insights, briefs, and reports
• Contribute to thought leadership content, articles, and knowledge pieces aligned with MANAKAL’s mission
• Support the creation of written and multimedia content for digital and communication platforms
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate research insights into programs, strategies, and communications
• Assist in building and organizing MANAKAL’s internal knowledge systems and learning resources
• Support storytelling efforts that translate complex sustainability topics into accessible, engaging narratives
