We are looking for volunteer van drivers to join our team. Usually, our drivers are out between 9am-1pm, however some afternoon opportunities may be available. You will be delivering food parcels to various pick up points around Barnsley, as well as picking up donations. Must have a valid, clean driving licence. We will be in touch with applicants for an informal chat if successful.

We are looking for volunteers to join the food bank team. This could include warehouse volunteering, being a driver's mate, administration or volunteering at supermarket collections. There are multiple roles available, from as little as 1 hour a day.

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate, confident, and highly professional Volunteer Charities and Crowdfunder Support Manager to build and maintain relationships with charitable organisations, community groups, and individuals using crowdfunding pages.

This role involves guiding partners from initial contact through onboarding and maintaining ongoing rapport, ensuring they feel supported, understood, and valued throughout their involvement with the platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, approach, and invite suitable charities, community groups, and crowdfunding campaigns to join the platform

Although this is currently a volunteer position, Influential Stars is actively working to grow the platform with the long term aim of creating paid roles. The Conversation Class Teacher volunteer will deliver IRMO Conversation Class lessons as suitable, required and in support of our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) provision for adults. 

You will work closely with the ETE Education Assistant to support language development among IRMO ESOL Courses learners, following a scheme of work and basic course outline and planning the lessons at beginner and advanced levels (as allocated) according to your teaching approach, methods and techniques. 

Main tasks and responsibilities of the role: 

● Planning, preparing and delivering high-quality lessons to a range of classes and levels in a community setting. 

● Providing a safe and inclusive learning environment for learners, reinforcing and practising English focusing on particular areas of the learner's language. 

● Ensuring learners’ participation during classes and monitoring attendance. 

● Providing opportunities for social engagement to support learners to become more independent (eg. explaining necessary processes about daily life). 

● Promoting and encouraging language improvement (eg. motivating learners to participate in language learning activities such as conversation classes). 

● Keeping classes on track according to the syllabus and learning outcomes instructed. 

● Undertaking any other administrative tasks, consistent with the purpose of the role as required.

Over the last decade we've nearly doubled our housing provision and delivered Appleby Blue — a social housing development for older people that went on to win the RIBA Stirling Prize, the UK's most prestigious architecture award.

• You understand what effective governance looks like — strategic planning, risk management, and change management
• You have a strong lived or learned understanding of Southwark and its communities, including both local strengths and the barriers that affect opportunity and wellbeing

About the role

As a Trustee, you will play a vital part in ensuring Crisis remains well governed, financially sustainable, and focused on achieving its mission.

Alongside the statutory responsibilities of being a trustee, you will bring specialist financial expertise to the Board and co-chair our Finance, Audit and Risk Committee. You will also contribute to oversight of our growing housing delivery function through membership of the relevant committee.

Working alongside fellow trustees and senior leaders, you will help shape long-term strategy, scrutinise performance, oversee risk, and ensure the organisation remains accountable, transparent and financially strong.

We are looking for someone with:

• Significant senior leadership experience with responsibility for organisational finances.
• The ability to interpret complex financial information and assess the longer-term financial implications of strategic decisions.
• Experience of organisational governance, either as a trustee, non-executive director or member of a senior leadership team. Experience of chairing or serving on a Finance, Audit or Risk Committee.
• Strong understanding of financial risk management, audit, compliance, internal controls and organisational sustainability.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
• A commitment to collaborative governance and collective decision-making.
• A genuine passion for Crisis' mission and a determination to help end homelessness.
• Knowledge of charity accounting (SORP) and Charity Commission requirements is desirable but not essential.

Remuneration

This is a voluntary, unremunerated trustee role.

Term of appointment

Trustees are appointed for an initial three-year term, with the opportunity to be reappointed for a second term.
