Volunteer Trustee – Treasury & Finance

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Trustee with treasury or financial expertise to join our Board. This role is central to helping us manage our resources responsibly, plan for the future, and ensure our funds are used to achieve maximum impact.

You don’t need to be a qualified accountant, but we’re looking for someone with experience in finance, treasury management, or investment oversight who can bring clarity, challenge, and strategic thinking to our decision-making.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Overseeing financial governance alongside the Board and Finance Committee.
• Advising on treasury management, cash flow, and reserves.

Churches Conservation Trust (CCT) is a national conservation charity that has saved over 357 churches at risk. CCT operates the third largest heritage estate in charitable ownership in the UK, and its unique collection of English churches includes architecture, archaeology and art from 1,000 years of history. The Board of Trustees of CCT is responsible for safeguarding and ensuring the future of this collection of outstanding historic buildings.

All trustees are asked to become 'champions' for one of CCT's areas of work, a role which provides them the opportunity to get more involved in understanding, supporting and promoting CCT's work in these areas. We are seeking two passionate and committed trustees to join the Board with an interest in conserving and using beautiful old churches. We would be particularly interested to hear from people with the following skills although a lack of specific experience in these areas would not rule out candidates who meet our other more general requirements.

Location: wide geographic spread across UK

Screening interviews will be undertaken between 1st – 12th December. In person interviews will be held in early January.

Trustees work pro bono calendar days c. 1.5 per month (4 board meetings and 4 sub-committee meetings per year, as applicable plus ad hoc engagements, events and a two-day tour each year to different regions).

They are seeking a Treasurer to join the Board and strengthen financial oversight as the organisation works to simplify its accounting processes and manage expenditure more efficiently. The role involves reviewing systems, supporting financial planning and reporting, and ensuring compliance with charity regulations.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and experience in charity finance or audit. The ability to communicate clearly with non-finance trustees and to recommend practical, proportionate improvements will be key.

The Board meets remotely, with one in-person meeting each year in London. The expected commitment is around two to three hours per week, with occasional peaks around Finance Sub-Committee meetings.

We are seekingPhysician Associates to respond to and manage emergency calls/incidents whilst attending events. At all times provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care to undertake clinical assessment and interventions those individuals in the pre-hospital environment, which may include stadia, concerts, motorsports, road races etc. This may encompass working on both ambulances / FRV’s and within treatment units as required.

They are seeking a Treasurer to join the Board and play a key role in ensuring sound financial governance and supporting the organisation’s continued growth. Working closely with the senior team, the Treasurer will oversee financial management, strengthen internal controls and reporting, and advise the Board on strategy, budgeting, and compliance.

The ideal candidate will bring accounting or treasury experience, strong analytical and organisational skills, and an interest in regeneration, community enterprise, or heritage-led development. Experience of Xero or financial oversight within a Community Interest Company would be an advantage.

The Board meets remotely, with occasional in-person meetings in Ramsgate. The expected time commitment is around one to two days per month, including meeting preparation and liaison with the executive team.

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to embed ourselves within our communities, delivering support which is tailored to the needs of those communities whilst providing a positive experience for our Volunteers.

We need leaders who are passionate about making a difference in their communities, who care about helping and developing others, who will lead and inspire a volunteer movement across a geographical area to deliver Community First Aid, Community Education and Community Fundraising as well as develop our offering for young people. Through leading a team of Volunteer leaders, you will drive excellence in delivery, develop an inclusive and diverse volunteering experience for new and current volunteers, and help navigate through change to build a bigger and better St John Ambulance.

 As Network Events Services Lead, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride through supporting a team and our volunteers to deliver our essential services. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation.

 We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. What you can expect from SJA, and what we expect from those who volunteer with us, is included in the volunteer charter.

Volunteers would be expected to attend training for the role both online and in person, and to attend regular network weekly meetings to enable them to keep their skills up to date.

Our vision at Bluebell Wood is for every baby, child and young person with a life limiting condition to access specialist palliative care, where and when they need it. You will join our fantastic team where we all play our part in achieving our vision and creating an incredible culture for everyone. 

Our services:

Our uncompromisable support services are wide-ranging and bespoke to each family. We provide symptom management, end-of-life care, post-death care, short breaks, counselling, sibling support groups, music therapy, home visits and more.

We support families across a large geographical area, including South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire, North Derbyshire and parts of North Lincolnshire. The hospice is easily accessible from Barnsley, Rotherham, Doncaster, Sheffield and North Notts. We have free secure on-site parking for families, staff and volunteers to use. 

Every year we need to raise £6.7m to keep our doors open and only around 17% of our income comes from government sources, the rest must be raised through fundraising activity.

They are seeking an experienced finance professional to join their UK Board as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance & Audit Committee. Working closely with counterparts in Zambia, the Treasurer will help ensure the charity’s financial integrity, sustainability, and compliance, providing strategic oversight and guidance on financial policy, risk, and reporting.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified finance professional with senior-level experience and strong governance understanding. You should bring the ability to communicate complex financial matters clearly, support effective Board decision-making, and provide independent challenge where needed.

The Board meets four times per year, usually in London although remote attendance is possible. The expected time commitment is around 1–2 days per month, including additional time for Finance & Audit Committee duties which meets online.

We are seeking Event Doctors to respond and manage emergency calls/incidents at events which may include venues such as stadia, concert halls, motorsports tracks, road races etc. Event doctors shall provide specialist, clinical, social and holistic care while undertaking clinical assessment and interventions in the pre-hospital environment. This will mainly involve working in mobile treatment centres or temporary event medical centres.

 Successful candidates will be registered registered medical practitioners with the GMC, without cautions or restrictions, and hold a license to practice outside of an approved practice setting.
