Job description

Make a difference. Bring your experience. Help young people thrive.

Base 51 has more than 30 years’ experience of supporting the wellbeing of 11-24-year-olds in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire. Through youth work, counselling, and therapy we offer safe spaces, where young people can connect with trusted adults and other young people and receive the support they need to fulfil their potential.

We are looking for new Trustees and a Vice Chair to join our committed and passionate Board at an exciting time for the organisation as we prepare to produce a new strategy.

About the roles

As a Trustee, you will play a vital part in ensuring Base 51 remains sustainable and impactful. Working alongside fellow Trustees and the senior leadership team, you’ll help set strategic direction, provide oversight and ensure strong governance.

As a Trustee and Vice Chair, you will additionally act as a sounding board and critical friend to the Chair, for whom you will occasionally be required to deputise, and support the Board and its sub-committees to work at their best. This role is ideal for someone with previous board experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility and influence.

Both of these voluntary roles will be impactful and rewarding.

Who we’re looking for

We’re keen to hear from people who:

· Are passionate about improving outcomes for young people and communities

· Bring strategic thinking, sound judgement and a collaborative approach

· Are willing to challenge constructively and supportively

For the Vice Chair role, and in addition to the above, we are particularly interested in candidates with:

· Previous trustee or board-level experience and strong knowledge of governance, leadership and strategy

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and are especially keen to improve the diversity of our Board to better reflect the communities we serve.

What you can expect

· A supportive and collaborative board culture

· The opportunity to influence meaningful, life-changing work

· Induction, ongoing support and development

· Board meetings typically held quarterly and committees held monthly to quarterly.

Interested?

If you’re excited by the opportunity to help guide Base 51’s future and make a lasting difference to young people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you. Informal conversations are welcome, please find contact emails on our website.
