PINT (People In Need Today)

We create awareness for people experiencing homelessness through media, publicity and projects.

We aim to create awareness for those in need via promotion of our work to the homeless and those in need through media and publicity. The aim is to show the majority that what they see and hear is an actual myth of what they see and believe homelessness is. We also highlight the fact that so much is wasted that can go to help other especially people in need around the globe.

PINT aims to highlight that awareness can be created by team work showing the world that so much gets wasted daily which can be contributed towards many that are suffering without on a daily basis. Our project has been in existence for 15 years now in that time we have grown from feeding tans supporting those in need in the community to covering a number of areas in London and the United Kingdom.

Lawyer/Legal Professional

Role Description

We are a small charity who are in the process of taking our work to the next level and require the skills of a legal professional to advise and help structure certain aspects of the charity so we can be more transparent with our volunteers, trustees and those involved with our organisation. Your role will be to administrate the required contracts and legal aspects necessary so that the day to day function is clear and concise.

Weekly Time Commitment: 4-6 hours per week

Duration of Volunteer Role: 1-2 months

The Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) is an international professional body for town planners with over 27,000 members in 88 countries. They are responsible for maintaining professional standards and accrediting world class planning courses both in the UK and internationally. They have offices in London, Edinburgh and Cardiff. They are the voice of the profession. They engage with governments, experts, advocates  and international bodies to promote good planning, lead on policy development and research, and promote planning in the long-term public interest. They support their members to deliver outstanding placemaking that creates inclusive, healthy, prosperous, sustainable and happy communities.

The RTPI is seeking a Co-opted Trustee with knowledge and experience in one of the following areas: digital transformation, organisational development or major project development.

What will you be doing?

The RTPI Board of Trustees (BOT) is responsible for making decisions in the following areas.

 Leadership 

• Shaping the RTPI’s corporate planning processes – including the corporate strategy, the business plan, the annual budget and supporting documents such as committee work plans. 
• Ensuring the RTPI has appropriate policies in place on key matters such as health and safety, risk management, data protection and financial management. 

 Statutory responsibilities 

• Ensuring that the Institute is carrying out its purposes for the public benefit

Board meetings are held during office hours either in person or virtually. There are 6 annually. While RTPI are headquartered in London, it is not a prerequisite that Trustees are London based. 

We are looking for cat-loving volunteers to play a vital role in helping us improve the wellbeing of the cats in our care whilst they wait to be rehomed. Can you help them by providing a calm and caring home whilst we find their purrfect forever home?

Here at Bluebell Ridge RSPCA Centre, we have been rehabilitating and rehoming unwanted, stray and abandoned cats for 23 years. 

We'd now like to expand our team of volunteer fosterers so we can offer an alternative rehoming journey for those who don't cope as well in a cattery environment and would benefit from one-to-one behavioural or medical support.

As a cat fosterer, you would be supporting the RSPCA in providing our cats with the safety of your home whilst tending to their welfare needs such as feeding and grooming. In addition to this, by providing a temporary loving environment, you will play a crucial role in a cat’s wellbeing and socialisation, which will significantly improve their chances of successful rehoming.

Once everything is in place, the animal centre will guide you through the fostering process and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment, food, and veterinary care for your fostered cat. The RSPCA is also happy to reimburse any other pre-agreed expenses that you may incur through volunteering for us.

Whilst our cats are in your foster care, you will:

● Provide them with care, suitable housing, and a safe environment as per our policies and guidelines.

● Feed, water, and groom them in line with our advice.

● Transport them to any veterinary appointments if required.

● Provide them with your time and patience.

● Help us spread the word about the cats in your care so they might find their forever home quicker.

● Playing and cuddles are also a must!

What we are looking for in a volunteer Cat Fosterer:

● Volunteers aged 18 or over who have had plenty of experience caring for cats.

• Based in in our region which covers Camber to Bexhill and north to Hurst Green

● Fostering experience is beneficial but not essential as training is provided.

● For their wellbeing, our cats need to be kept in a separate room, so the whole family should be on board.

● Any existing pets or animals need to have been spayed/neutered (some medical reasons may mean they cannot be, so please let us know if this is the case).

At TOP UK we also know that OCD and phobias are poorly understood, under-funded and stigmatised despite affecting millions of people. OCD and phobia sufferers often tell us how misunderstanding of their conditions leaves them feeling isolated, alone and afraid to seek help. At TOP UK, we believe no one should feel alone in facing their fears 

It is an exciting but testing time at TOP UK and we have just launched an ambitious three-year strategy. While we are eager to embark on this new stage of development for our organisation it comes with an acknowledgment that we are working in particularly uncertain and stressful times and there is a greater need to grow our service than ever before. Demand for our service is at an all-time high and continues to grow, currently dramatically outstripping our capacity. We are seeking Social Media Volunteers to assist our Social Media Marketing Team in creating and distributing engaging content on Hidayah’s social media platforms. Social media is integral to connecting with the Hidayah community, growing our organisational reach and promoting events such as our Queer Book Club, in-house research and educational resources for Ramadan.

We also use our social media platforms to post adverts for volunteers, promote Hidayah’s membership, respond to world news via solidarity statements and signpost LGBTQI+ Muslims to a range of national and international support.

You do not need to be LGBTQI+ or Muslim to be able to carry out this role. However, it is important to have a broad knowledge and understanding of these areas to be able to genuinely engage with the specific audience that follows Hidayah’s social media platforms.

Our Social Media Volunteers have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to:

• Creating and editing content to distribute across Hidayah’s social media platforms e.g. TikTok and Instagram

We are looking for a Chair with knowledge of UK midwifery care and maternity provision with charity governance, leadership skills and experience to help us grow and keep increasing our impact.

The main responsibilities of the Chair of Trustees are to:

• With the other volunteers, recruit, induct and support all branch fosterers and cat care volunteers using Cats Protection processes

• Play an active part in the branch committee, being part of the branch team leading on cat adoption information and updates
• Collaborating with the Cats Protection Cat Adoption Team Leader to ensure the highest standards of cat care are applied in line with Cats Protection policy and procedures

We’re looking for someone with

• A willingness to follow Cats Protection policies and procedures
• Basic knowledge and experience of cat welfare
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to engage with people on all levels, to build strong and effective relationships
• A willingness to develop themselves and others and to update knowledge and skills as necessary
• Good administration and organisational skills
• Basic IT skills to use Cats Protection systems - training and support can be provided
• The ability to handle sensitive issues with objectivity and pragmatism
• Committee volunteers need to be aged 18+

Time expectation

The time expectation for this role will vary depending on the number of volunteers and cats in care. Our Cat Welfare Team Leaders usually spend between 10 to 12 hours per week in this role which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed. 

Support, guidance and keeping you safe

At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

The wellbeing of our people is important and at Cats Protection we are committed to safeguarding children, adults at risk and all those that we come into contact with as part of our activities.

Mynshull’s Educational Foundation is committed to improving the life-chances of young people from Manchester and Salford, so they can grow up to fulfil their potential. Through the provision of small grants, we aim to reduce the barriers that young people face to education, skills and training.

We provide funding for young people aged 25 or under to help them obtain equipment, uniforms or experiences that support them in starting or continuing their education or training.  Some examples include grants towards the cost of school trips and residentials, text books, stationery, apprenticeship equipment such as tools, and musical instruments.

We are currently recruiting for trustees to join our board.  The right candidate will understand the challenges faced by young people in Manchester and Salford; this may be through their own lived experiences or through professional experience, for example in education or health and social care.  The successful candidate will be passionate about improving outcomes for young people.  Previous experience of being a trustee is not essential to this role.

As a trustee you would be expected to attend a minimum of 4 board meetings (2 hours each) per year, as well as commit approximately 1 to 2 hours per month to reviewing applications for funding (this can be done remotely, online).
