Skin Camouflage Service Admin Volunteer
Changing Faces is the UK’s leading charity for everyone with a scar, mark or condition on their face or body. We provide life-changing mental health, wellbeing and skin camouflage services and work to transform understanding and acceptance of visible difference, and campaign to reduce prejudice and discrimination.
The Skin Camouflage Service provides crucial support to anyone with a visible difference wanting to make their condition look less noticeable. We provide this service because we know not everyone is comfortable with their visible difference. Our service offers people a choice over their appearance and a sense of control over how they want to look day to day. We know that this can build confidence and help people feel more empowered.
What the role entails
We are looking for x2 Admin Volunteers to join the Skin Camouflage Service team on a weekly basis (one at 0.5 and one at 1 day per week, day can be flexible). The role is fully remote.
You may have a visible difference yourself or have an understanding of the difficulties people with visible differences can face – a sense of compassion is a must to be successful at this role.
What you will be doing
Tasks will not be limited to but will include triaging voicemails and responding to general message and email enquiries, contacting external stakeholders regarding prescription requests and referrals, screening client referrals, checking client feedback, and following up on Health Professional and self-referrals. You will be helping to reduce waitlists and assist the operations of the service by working directly with our office team. Full training will be provided.
Who we are looking for
We are looking for someone who is dedicated to our mission and values, wants to make a difference in our clients’ lives and wants to expand on their admin skills. Also, the successful candidate
- will be able to commit to 0.5 or 1 day a week of volunteering for at least 6 months,
- has great written and verbal communication skills,
- has the emotional resilience to communicate with people who might be under distress,
- is computer literate, and has experience using emails, answering voicemails, and ideally has database experience as well,
- has a good understanding of client confidentiality,
- will be able to follow Changing Faces policies and procedures,
- and will be reliable with the ability work in a professional manner while providing valuable administrative support.
The role will be subject to a successful enhanced DBS/PVG check.
