About the organisation:
Diaspora Woman is a social and cultural organisation dedicated to promoting the empowerment, visibility, and leadership of migrant, Afro-descendant, and Spanish-speaking women in the UK and internationally.

We generate vital spaces for training, connection, and participation for women and families who are survivors of conflict and gender-based violence, as well as Afro-Latin communities and individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities. We drive social change through community organising, education, art, and comprehensive support.

About the Role: 
We are seeking a proactive and committed Volunteer Administrative Assistant to help strengthen our internal structure and increase our impact. This role is crucial for ensuring our data, records, and institutional memory are well-organised, allowing us to focus on our core mission.

Key Functions will include:

This role is essential for contributing to the economic and logistical sustainability of Diaspora Woman. The successful volunteer will help secure the resources and spaces necessary for our work to thrive.

  • Funding Research: Identify potential donor entities, grant programs, and relevant funding calls or tenders.
  • Proposal Development: Contribute to the preparation of proposals and strategies aimed at securing financial resources.
  • Venue Sourcing: Locate free or subsidised venues and spaces suitable for hosting our workshops, events, and meetings.
  • Innovative Initiatives: Propose innovative community sustainability and resource generation initiatives.
  • Partnership Building: Participate in the creation of strategic alliances with institutions, embassies, and related organisations.

Your Commitment:

  • Hours: 6 to 8 hours per week (flexible).
  • Duration: 3 months (with the possibility of extension).
  • Location: Hybrid (Remote work + online follow-up meetings every 15 days).
  • Supervision: You will be supervised by the Mujer Diáspora Coordinator.

Essential Requirements:

  • Bilingual Proficiency: Fluent spoken and written Spanish and English is required.
  • Commitment: Interest in migration, gender equity, culture, and sustainability issues.
  • Skills: Strong abilities in organisation, communication, and administrative/social management.
  • Work Style: Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in diverse environments.
  • Availability: Must be able to commit to 6-8 hours per week.
