Job description

FoodCycle is looking for volunteers (unpaid) for our project in Erdington on Monday afternoons!

Do you love cooking? Do you love meeting new people? Come join our team!

We're looking for volunteers who can join the cooking or hosting team at the Erdington Family Hub at Lakeside Children's Centre, B23 7UH. Each week, we use surplus food to prepare and serve a 3-course vegetarian meal for local families, completely free of charge.

Each session is guided by our wonderful Project Leaders who will show you what to do. We want to be able to keep up with the demand in the area and so it's only with your help we can keep going!

We have different volunteer roles:

  • Hosts: to welcome guests, serve refreshments and food, and to help create a warm, friendly atmosphere (2:30-5:30pm)
  • Cooks: to work as a team to prepare a tasty 3-course, vegetarian meal from our surplus food (12:30-5:30pm)
  • Pot wash: to help wash up and clean up after the meal (3:00-5:30pm)
  • Project leaders: For those looking to take on more responsibility, there is also the opportunity to become a Project Leader! Our PLs must commit to leading at least one session per month, and you'll receive extra training and support. You'll also need to pass a DBS check.

To apply or find more information, just visit our website!

Benefits for you:

  • Enjoy a free 3-course vegetarian meal alongside our guests!
  • Travel expenses can be reimbursed
  • Gain skills and experience for your CV, and meet lovely people
  • Sign up to come to as few / many meals as you'd like
  • No experience necessary

FoodCycle volunteers must be aged over 18.
