What will you be doing?

As a Trustee of Hampton Trust, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of a bold and innovative charity that works to break the cycle of abuse. Your contribution will directly support our mission to create safe, trauma-informed spaces, hold perpetrators to account, and help rebuild lives.

Trustees help steer our long-term strategy and provide critical oversight to ensure our resources are used effectively and ethically. You’ll bring your skills and experience to scrutinise board papers, guide decisions, support internal governance, and help evaluate our impact. Whether you bring expertise in criminal justice, income generation, policy, marketing, digital, or connections to the NHS, education or youth sectors, your input will be instrumental in helping us meet challenges and seize opportunities.

You will also influence how we develop sustainable organisational growth, ensure compliance with charity law, and uphold our values across every aspect of our work. Drawing on your networks and insight, you will help advocate for the charity and support wider engagement with our partners, funders, and the public.

You will be joining a passionate, diverse, and forward-thinking board committed to building safer communities and driving long-lasting, transformative change.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for Trustees who bring strategic insight, sound judgement, and a strong commitment to social justice. To help us meet current challenges and realise new opportunities, we are particularly seeking individuals with skills or experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Criminal justice and/or domestic abuse
• Commissioning, grant funding or income generation
• Policy and public affairs
• Marketing, communications and public relations
• Digital transformation
• NHS, education, or youth sector knowledge and networks
• Sustainable organisational growth

We welcome applications from people with strong governance, leadership, and financial oversight experience, as well as those with lived experience of domestic abuse.

We value empathy, innovation, and the ability to think independently while working collaboratively. We are especially keen to increase the diversity of our Board and encourage applications from people in their 20s and 30s, and from underrepresented ethnic, religious and socio-economic backgrounds.

Trustees play a vital role in developing and steering our strategy, overseeing finances, evaluating performance, and identifying risk and opportunity. You’ll guide our leadership, ensuring we stay focused on achieving real, lasting change for the communities we serve.

You will help safeguard the charity’s values and credibility—ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and that resources are used efficiently and responsibly. Drawing on your own networks, you’ll help extend our reach and influence.

The role is hands-on and rewarding: you’ll review and scrutinise board papers, actively participate in quarterly (hybrid) meetings, and may offer training, mentoring, or tools that strengthen our internal capacity. Whether it's through sharing specialist knowledge, offering critical oversight, or simply supporting our team with empathy and integrity, your presence on the board will help ensure we remain a resilient, forward-thinking organisation.
