What are we looking for?
We are looking for reliable and hands-on volunteers to support the organisation and running of our annual Festival of Trees event! Christmas is a crucial time of year for the NSPCC and this event is a magical way to bring people together, promote the importance of the work that we do and of course raise vital funds for those who need it most.
What will you be doing?
The key responsibilities of this role include: decorating Christmas trees, tidying and sorting event spaces before, during and after the event, moving equipment and materials, undecorating and packing away items, organising storage cupboards, and overall just ensuring that things run in a smooth and efficient manner. If you are a creative and organised Christmas fan, then this could be the perfect role for you!
How regular is the volunteering?
The work for this role will be done in the run up to Christmas, and within the first couple of weeks of the new year. We will require your help on a few specific days during this time period (yet to be decided), and these will usually be weekdays. You will be given details of the specific dates/times with plenty of notice and we will do our best to work around the availability of all the volunteers! There is no requirement for you to be available for every single one, so if you just have the occasional day available to support us, then this will be absolutely fine.

Terms of Appointment
Appointments are for an initial term of three years, renewable for up to two further terms of three years.
Remuneration
This is a voluntary role and there is no remuneration. Reasonable expenses incurred in the role will be reimbursed in line with the organisation’s expenses policy.
Location: Generally, meetings are held remotely online, with an annual Board Strategy Day being held in London.
Time Commitment
There are currently 4 formal Board meetings per year and more regular sub-committee meetings. The board meetings currently take place on Zoom on a Wednesday evening for approximately 2.5 hours. Sub-committee dates and times are flexible.
Other time commitments will include ongoing liaison with the Chair of the Board, Chief Executive and other senior staff, as well as attendance at other meetings, such as interview panels and events as required. We anticipate the overall time commitment being approximately 3-4 days per month for the first 12-18 months, settling to 2 days per month after that.

About The Role
By caring for amphibians and supporting the Toad Hall exhibit, this role plays a vital part in conservation education and biodiversity protection. Volunteers help raise awareness of wetland species and the threats they face by engaging the public through interactive presentations, inspiring visitors to value and support wetland conservation.
What will you be doing:
- General animal husbandry such as feeding, water changes, and exhibit maintenance.
- Data recording for life support systems.
- General maintenance of public and back of house areas
- Helping with new projects and stock management.
- Conducting interactive presentations to engage the general public in the work of WWT, the amphibians in the Toad Hall exhibit, and wider conservation messages (training provided)

About You
Who are we looking for?
There are two parts to this role: assisting with daily animal management duties in the Living Collections department and engaging our visitors on the amphibians and the work of Living Collection. Both aspects are equally important, and so we are looking for volunteers with the following:
- Basic animal husbandry knowledge, with a particular interest in amphibians would be advantageous
- Excellent customer service skills; confidence and enthusiasm when engaging the public
- Good physical health – this role will involve some manual handling
- Good attention to detail and able to follow instructions
- The ability to work on your own initiative under the direction of the Ectotherm team, following strict animal care protocols.
The role would be enjoyable for those who love working closely with animals, educating others, and gaining hands-on experience in an internationally important wetland site.

Can you lead a charity that supports parents of young children in east Berkshire?
Home-Start in Berkshire East is an empowering, visionary, family support service built on trusted relationships and rooted in the community. We are a local charity, also part of the national Home-Start network of 180 groups. Our Board of trustees is fully responsible for governing our independent organisation, which focuses support to parents with young children, through a range of volunteer and employee-supported services, primarily in the east of Berkshire.
With a turnover of £300k+ in 2024/25, we’re a medium-sized charity, with 14 paid staff and over 30 regular volunteers, offering over 3,000 volunteer hours to more than 300 families per year.
We are looking for a new Chair for our Board of Trustees, as we continue to grow after our recent merger, and as our current Chair reaches the end of her Term of Office. You’ll have a leadership background and an understanding of (charity or corporate) governance. It is vital that you are able to lead cooperatively and work with other Trustees, the CEO, our employee and volunteer team, to shape our vision and strategy. Whilst we’d appreciate some experience within the charity sector, as either a trustee, volunteer or employee, that is not absolutely vital – we don’t want to preclude appropriate experience from other sectors that clearly fits our current and future needs.
This is a high-profile appointment, with strong commitment to the future of families and children, and an appreciation of Home-Start’s work both important.
We are a charity not a business, but we apply business principles to governing our organisation. We are looking for fresh expertise and experience, wanting to expand the diversity of our board, in all meanings of the word, and strongly welcome applications from people from less-represented groups.
The focus of a trustee is strategic, and our Chair will not be expected to get involved in the organisation’s operations on a day-to-day basis; however, regular contact and liaison with other trustees and our CEO is expected.

Gendered Intelligence is looking to expand the current Board of Trustees in order to bring fresh perspectives and skills to support the vital work that we do. We are currently recruiting for up to three new trustees.
Any successful applicants will need to understand the history of, and the issues that affect trans, nonbinary and gender questioning people and our communities in the UK, either as a member of this community themselves or as a committed ally. Particular areas of expertise
Whilst we are looking for trustees with a broad range of skills, we are particularly interested in finding people with skills and experience in the following areas:
- Youth work. Experience as a senior or strategic practitioner, especially within vulnerable and marginalised communities.
- Legal work. This could be in human rights, discrimination, employment law or general charity law, but we are open to other areas of expertise, including regulatory, risk and governance expertise. You may not be a lawyer but could bring knowledge of legal systems more widely, or networks who can support this area as required.
- HR management experience. An experienced HR professional who can bring a strategic HR perspective to board discussions and support the GI in developing effective and inclusive people practices.
If your experience does not fall into these categories but you would still like to be considered, please do let us know. The best trustees can come from all sorts of backgrounds, and we’d love to know what your experience can offer us.
Commitment
We currently hold five scheduled Board meetings a year and occasional ad hoc meetings as deemed necessary. Additionally there is the opportunity to join subcommittees and working groups to allow deeper involvement in an area of particular interest. In order to facilitate availability for each meeting, to read all necessary paperwork in advance, and to be available to advise in your area of expertise, we consider that successful candidates should be able to commit to being available for a minimum of 10 hours per month.

We support people in need by funding local charities and community groups who work with individuals and communities who are marginalised or disadvantaged, for example because they have difficulty in accessing resources, face discrimination or may experience poorer social, economic and health outcomes. In 2024 the Trust made grants of £213,152 towards work in support of our aims.
The opportunity
We are looking for up to 3 community-minded individuals who might live or work in our area of benefit. You will be keen to engage in high quality grant-making through informed understanding of the needs and challenges facing the charities and communities that we support. We always need to add to our professional skill base so if you have experience relating to governance, finance, property, strategic and operational management, that is equally welcome. You’ll play a key part in developing our future plans and, as we are looking to incorporate in the next 12 months, you will play a part in achieving that and other changes.
Time Commitment
Being available, engaged and a sounding board for staff and other Trustees is just as important as attending 4 mandatory meetings each year. We hope you’d take up the opportunity to visit and meet with grant holder charities, and to develop your knowledge and intelligence of issues that affect people in our area of benefit.
Who You Are
We’re looking for up to three individuals who bring enthusiasm, knowledge or interest in the local area we cover (or willing to learn), commitment to sound governance and the intention to make high quality grant-making. You might have a specific social interest or issue that you want to champion, and you’ll be a collaborative team member of the Board.
We particularly welcome applications from people currently living or working in the London Boroughs of Southwark, Tower Hamlets or City of London.

About the role
Leonard Cheshire is looking to appoint an exceptional clinical professional to join our Board of Trustees at a pivotal moment in our 75-year history as we embark on an ambitious strategy that will reshape how we deliver person-centred care for disabled people across the UK.
You will work closely with our Chief Executive, Dr Ruth Owen OBE, and Vanessa Davies, our Executive Director Quality and Clinical Care, together with our high-calibre board, to guide Leonard Cheshire through this next phase.
You will help shape policy and strategy, provide oversight of our clinical standards, and ensure that our governance reflects best practice across the healthcare and social care sectors.
Our new Trustee will contribute to decisions about service design, quality frameworks, regulatory compliance, and strategic partnerships that will affect thousands of disabled people.
Who we are looking for
We seek a Trustee who combines deep clinical expertise with commercial acumen and strong governance experience.
We are open regarding which particular clinical background you will bring, as we operate in a wide context supporting all disabled people to lead independent lives. We are particularly interested in someone who can evidence knowledge and skill in applying their clinical experience within therapeutic environments, enabling young people to live as independently as possible, within the community. An added benefit will be someone who has combined clinical and therapeutic interventions with the use of enabling technology.
Your clinical background should be complemented by experience in leadership roles where you have balanced quality, safety, and financial considerations. Perhaps you have worked in senior positions within NHS trusts, private healthcare organisations, or social care providers. You will have experience with regulatory bodies such as the CQC or have been involved in service transformation projects.
Equally important is your understanding of good governance. Experience of board-level decision making, risk management, and strategic oversight is valuable, whether gained in healthcare settings or other sectors. Furthermore, experience of working with complex commissioning arrangements and local authority partnerships is helpful.
You will bring genuine passion for disability rights and person-centred care, understanding that our work is about far more than meeting care needs – it’s about enabling people to live with dignity, choice, and independence.
Most importantly, you will share our commitment to the highest standards of care. You will be someone who can think strategically about quality, safety, and innovation while keeping the experiences and aspirations of disabled people at the heart of every decision.

About the role:
You will be providing face-to-face or remote support through delivering HUK’s therapeutic 1-2-1 support program for people impacted by hoarding behaviour who may be facing a variety of situations including legal, financial, psychological and discriminatory abuse/neglect. You will be working with trained colleagues to alleviate housing, benefits, mental health and other problems experienced by HUK's participants.
The role consists of:
· Volunteering at HUK a minimum of one and a half-hours each week in accordance with program completion, preferably two years.
· Maintain a caseload of at least one participant.
· Taking responsibility for ongoing casework as required.
· Complying with HUK's case-management procedures, training program and other relevant policies and procedures.
We are looking for:
· Trainee Counsellors/Psychotherapists currently studying on a BACP, UKCP or BABCP accredited course.
· Trainee Counselling/Clinical/Forensic psychologist currently studying on BPS accredited doctoral courses.
· Qualified Counsellors/Psychotherapists that are accredited or working towards accreditation with the BACP, UKCP or BABCP
· Student or individual membership with the BACP, UKCP, BABCP and or HCPC
· Qualified Clinical/Counselling/Forensic Psychologists with HCPC registration.
