The Netherton Feelgood Factory exists to support local people. We provide activities, services, and a welcoming space for residents of all ages and backgrounds — but none of that happens without a secure financial foundation. As a small charity, we can't rely on grants and donations alone. Sustainable income from venue hire gives us something equally precious: independence. The freedom to plan ahead, to protect the services people rely on, and to say yes to new ideas. As our Venue Hire & Income Generation Volunteer, you won't just be filling a diary. You'll be helping to future-proof a community asset.

Our organisation provides advice and services to all members of our local community from birth to old age.  We help over 5000 people each year with a variety of health-related or social needs.  Our centre is used as a base for counselling, food distribution, health programmes, children’s activities and social groups.  As funding sources have diminished the demand for our services has increased.  We are actively pursuing other ways to generate income.

We're looking for a volunteer with business, sales, or marketing experience to help us make the most of our fantastic building by hiring it out to local businesses, training providers, clubs, and organisations. Whether you've worked in sales, events, marketing, property, or business development — or simply have a talent for spotting an opportunity and making things happen — we'd love to hear from you.

You'll play a key role in identifying potential hirers, promoting our spaces, and helping us price and package our facilities competitively — all while ensuring the centre's core charitable activities remain protected.

• Identify and approach potential hirers, including local businesses, training providers, clubs, and community organisations
• Develop and maintain a marketing plan to promote the building for hire (e.g. flyers, social media, local business networks, online listings)
• Review and help set competitive, sustainable hire rates for different rooms/spaces and time slots
• Create or improve hire packages (e.g. half-day/full-day rates, regular booking discounts, room set-up options)
• Help develop simple hire agreements, terms and conditions, and invoicing processes (with support from staff/trustees)
• Build relationships with regular or repeat hirers to encourage long-term bookings
• Identify opportunities for new income streams connected to venue hire (e.g. catering add-ons, equipment hire)
• Report progress and income performance to the management team/trustees on a regular basis.

RETAIL VOLUNTEER SUPERVISOR  

Faversham Shop

Are you ready to develop your retail and leadership skills?... Then this could be the volunteer role for you! We're looking for enthusiastic people to support the management teams in running one of our fabulous community shops.

From helping to recruit new volunteers and leading the shop team when the manager is off, to driving sales and donations and creating eye catching window displays this is a varied and engaging role that will have an impact on the store, the local community and the fight to defend the right to a safe home.

Because Home is Everything

Suggested Involvement: It’s up to you! We have volunteers who support for one hour a week and others who volunteer more. Many people volunteer for a morning or an afternoon each week, but we’ll have a chat about your availability after you’ve applied.

Why get involved with Shelter? Home is a human right. It's our foundation and it's where we thrive. Yet, every day millions of people are being devastated by the housing emergency. 

We are passionate about what we do and are proud to give pre-loved items a second chance and represent Shelter on the High Street.  Our shop teams ensure fighting the housing emergency never felt so fun.

Main Tasks can include:  

• Supporting our Community Shop Managers to run an exciting and inviting store.  
• Using the till system to process sales, refunds and Gift Aid 
• Opening and/or closing the shop, including cashing up at the end of the day 
• Supporting other volunteers
• Using and updating our volunteer database
• Providing excellent customer service 
• Photographing and selling key items on our online shop 

• Creating posts to promote our shops on Instagram

Skills and Experiences Required: Not essential as full training will be provided, however some retail or supervisory experience would be beneficial, as would confidence in the use of technology.

What’s important to us is that you want to be part of our team and come ready to share your individual skills and experiences.  

We do ask for a willingness to follow Shelter’s policies, including volunteering, health & safety, equality & diversity, safeguarding, confidentiality & data protection.  

You will be required to complete some essential learning and a full induction before you start in this role.

The Faith Hope & Enterprise Company Ltd (FHE) is an innovative registered charity operating across Derby City, Amber Valley, and the Derbyshire Dales. Our mission is to provide high-quality supported housing and bespoke mentorship to individuals facing severe social exclusion. We walk alongside those recovering from addiction, navigating mental health challenges, adjusting to life after offending, or rebuilding after general homelessness.

Operating from our base in Mackworth, Derby, we run a network of shared houses and self-contained flats which we either own or lease from private landlords.  FHE is entering an exciting period of strategic development. We are looking to appoint new Trustees to join our friendly, dedicated Board.

As a Trustee, you will ensure that the charity remains financially resilient, legally compliant, and true to its core values of trust, respect, and kindness. Working closely with our Chief Executive and the executive team, you will help shape our future housing strategy, strengthen our local partnerships, and maximize the social impact of our enterprise model.

Who We Are Looking For

 We welcome applications from individuals who share our passion for tackling social exclusion and homelessness. To complement the existing skills on our Board, we are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a background or professional qualification in any of the following fields:

• Social Housing & Property Management: Experience in residential lettings, property maintenance, or estate management to advise on our housing stock.
• Finance & Accounting: Fully or part-qualified accountants who can provide oversight of budgets, cash flow, and financial forecasting.
• Legal, Risk & Compliance: Expertise in charity law, employment law, health & safety, or housing regulations.
• Health & Social Care/Addiction Recovery: Insights from the statutory or voluntary sectors to help guide our holistic support frameworks.

Prior experience as a trustee is not essential. We are fully committed to diversifying our board and warmly welcome applications from individuals with lived experience of the challenges our residents face. Comprehensive induction and peer mentoring will be provided.

Time Commitment

 Meetings: 4 to 6 formal evening Board meetings per year, held in Derby.

• Work: One annual strategy full-day review, plus occasional involvement based on your professional background.

Axial Spondyloarthritis International Federation (ASIF) is looking for a passionate and experienced, voluntary, legal/governance Trustee to join our Board and help shape the future of our international membership charity supporting people living with axSpA worldwide.

This voluntary role is ideal for someone with strong knowledge of UK charity law and/or governance and risk management.  If you are a confident communicator with extensive legal and/or governance experience and a desire to use those skills to support an international charity, we would love to hear from you.  Your expertise, insight and judgement could help ASIF to further its work to improve the quality of life for people living with Axial Spondyloarthritis across the world.

Role purpose
The Legal/Governance Trustee will contribute to the effective governance and strategic leadership of the charity.  They will provide strategic oversight, ensuring the organisation acts within legal frameworks, charity regulations, and its own governing documents.  They advise on compliance, manage risk and promote high standards of governance.  This voluntary, non-executive role requires legal expertise, knowledge of UK Charity Commission compliance and commitment to ASIF’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Actively participate in Board meetings and relevant Board committee meetings (F&GP), providing objective advice on legal, governance and risk issues.
• Work with the Chair, Director of Operations and other trustees to ensure the charity maintains the highest standards of governance, complies with all relevant laws and regulations and delivers on its mission.
• Contribute to the development and scrutiny of organisational strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure accountability
• Strategic advice: Provide legal expertise on strategic decision, risk management and safeguarding
• Assist in drafting or reviewing trustees’ reports, policies, and contracts (in particular grant contracts)
• Contribute to the identification of, and where appropriate, mitigate organisational risks, including reputation and financial, ensuring sustainability.

Time commitment:1-4 hours per month

• Qualified solicitor or barrister or charity governance expert with strong understanding of UK charity law, compliance and governance frameworks.
• Helpful to have an understanding of the governance of an international membership charity.
• Ability to think creatively and contribute to long-term planning.
• Dedication to ASIF’s mission and willingness to devote the necessary time.
• Ethical standards, integrity and sound, independent objective judgement.
• Because ASIF is registered in the UK, it is advisable for business purposes to have two UK-based trustees.  This Trustee should be UK-based.

• To act with integrity and avoid any personal conflicts of interest or misuse of charity funds or assets and to act in the best interests of the Charity and its beneficiaries, to safeguard our name and values.
• To ensure the financial stability of ASIF and to ensure that risks it is exposed to are properly assessed and managed.
• To assist the Chair and to support and monitor the Director of Operations.
• To use reasonable care and skill in their work as a trustee, using personal skills and experience as needed, plus any specific knowledge or experience to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decision, to ensure that the charity is well-run and efficient and ensure external professional advice is sought where necessary.
• In conjunction with the other trustees to ensure that delegated responsibilities are met.
