• Ensuring group rules are followed and that content is appropriate by alerting managers when inappropriate content is posted or when there is a safeguarding issue.

People consistently tell us that meeting others living with Parkinson's is the most important support they want locally. Volunteers run Parkinson's Cafes to provide an informal way of doing just that for a couple of hours each week. As a Cafe Volunteer, you'll support the Cafe Coordinator to help the monthly cafe run smoothly.

What You Will Be Doing

You will meet and greet attendees, keeping an up-to-date list of names. With other volunteers, you'll think of creative ways to add interest and value to the café sessions, such as arranging visits from relevant local health professionals. You'll arrive early, helping to get the venue ready, and packing down as needed once people have left. You will also help to serve refreshments or show attendees where they can purchase theirs.

The Skills Yo Need

You'll need to be warm and friendly, a good communicator, and open to working and interacting with a range of people. Being patient and empathetic is crucial in order to deal with sensitive issues and topics. Additionally, you should be motivated and reliable to ensure the coffee sessions run smoothly.

Are you happy to listen to others talking about their experience of building or carpentry? We are looking for someone like you to facilitate our monthly special interest group for blind and partially sighted people who are interested in these topics and who would like to share their experience with others.

You will contribute to the group to ensure that all participants feel comfortable and that the group runs smoothly.
This group will run monthly either over the telephone or as a video call.

• 2 Hours per Month

For the people they help, our volunteer drivers provide a friendly face and that personal touch to brighten their day and help get them to where they need to be.
Our drivers can become a regular part of someone’s life and for some their journeys together may be the only chance an RNIB customer has had to get out of their home for some time.

This is a telephone-based role that you can do from home. You will need access to a landline or mobile phone We ask you to commit to between 1 and 3 hours per week to facilitate Talk and Support befriending groups which will be at the same day and time each week. Each group runs for an hour.

• Clean, restore, and preserve historical support equipment.

• Carry out basic repairs and painting as needed.

• Help maintain safety standards and logs.

· Retirees, veterans, tinkerers, or anyone who enjoys hands-on volunteering.

RNIB is looking for enthusiastic volunteers to cheer on our team of over 50 runners at the 44th edition of the Great North Run – the biggest and best half marathon in the world. Lend your voice and energy and help us be the loudest cheer point on the course!

RNIB runners raise vital funds to help ensure that no one faces sight loss alone and we are looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to cheer and motivate runners to make it around the course.

Please note, this role is only available for those who live within a close proximity to Newcastle or South Shields.

From elderly moggies to energic kittens, every day across the UK cats and kittens are in need of a temporary place to stay, and lots of love and TLC! We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.
