Charity Trusee

Lincolnshire House Association is looking for new Trustees to join our Board and help shape the future of our organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute your skills, experience and perspective to a well-established local charity providing care, support and services to adults with complex physical disabilities.

About Lincolnshire House

Lincolnshire House Association is a registered charity based in Scunthorpe, providing residential, respite and day services for adults with complex physical disabilities.

We support people with a wide range of lifelong and acquired disabilities, including cerebral palsy and associated physical and learning disabilities. Our focus is on providing high-quality, person-centred support while promoting independence, dignity, choice and inclusion.

Having served the local community for over 60 years, Lincolnshire House continues to develop and improve its services and facilities. We are now looking to strengthen our Board with new Trustees who can bring fresh ideas, experience and constructive challenge.

About the Trustee role

As a Trustee, you will share responsibility for the overall governance and strategic direction of Lincolnshire House Association.

Working alongside fellow Trustees and the senior leadership team, you will help ensure that the charity:

• Remains focused on its charitable objectives and the people it supports.
• Is well governed, financially sustainable and effectively managed.
• Meets its legal, regulatory and safeguarding responsibilities.
• Continues to develop and improve the quality of its services.
• Makes effective use of its resources.
• Responds positively to the changing needs of the people we support and the wider social care environment.

Trustees are expected to contribute constructively to Board discussions, provide appropriate challenge and support, and use their experience to help the organisation make sound decisions.

Who are we looking for?

We are particularly interested in hearing from people with experience or knowledge in one or more of the following areas:

• Health and social care
• Human resources and employment
• Finance and accountancy
• Charity governance
• Legal, compliance or risk management

However, you do not need to have previous Trustee experience.

We are interested in people who are committed to the work of Lincolnshire House, can think strategically and are willing to ask questions, offer constructive challenge and work collaboratively with others.

Most importantly, you should share our commitment to ensuring that the people who use our services receive safe, respectful, compassionate and person-centred support.

What commitment is involved?

The Board currently meets approximately six times a year.

Meetings are normally held in person, although hybrid attendance can be accommodated where appropriate.

Board meetings are usually limited to 90 minutes, with Trustees also expected to undertake some preparation and reading between meetings.

Trustees may also be invited to support specific areas of work or attend occasional events and activities.
