A bit about this role
At Cats Protection we passionately believe that neutering cats before they can breed is an essential part of cat ownership and without neutering the UK’s cat population would quickly get out of control. Our neutering team lead volunteers help spread positive neutering messages and make it easier for owners on low incomes to get their cats neutered. They help raise awareness of the benefits of neutering, promote our neutering schemes and lead and support a team of neutering volunteers.
What can you expect to be doing?
- Our neutering team lead volunteers support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported
- Promoting and sharing the benefits of Cats Protection’s neutering schemes
- Responding to neutering enquiries, from members of the public and the team of neutering volunteers, providing advice and guidance in line with Cats Protection policies
- Completing relevant neutering paperwork and distributing neutering vouchers
- Keeping electronic records, managing the group’s neutering budget, and utilising appropriate Cats Protection systems
- Keeping the branch committee updated on branch neutering activity and budget
- Ensuring cats and kittens are neutered in line with Cats Protection policies

Time expectation
Our neutering team leader volunteers usually spend between five to 10 hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.

We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.

Our roaming tech volunteers provide one-to-one support to people with sight loss, visiting them in their own homes to help them get the most out of technology. They may help customers set up a new device, learn new features or trouble shoot tech problems. Roaming tech volunteers support people local to them.
We particularly require volunteers who are based in Herefordshire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire, Worcestershire and Shropshire.

A bit about this role
At Cats Protection we help thousands of cats each year thanks to our dedicated and passionate volunteer groups and teams, all of which help our feline friends in a different ways. They take in stray and abandoned cats and ensure they receive the veterinary care and attention they deserve, help raise funds, promote neutering and help spread cat welfare messages. Our volunteer treasurers maintain the finances of local groups and teams, ensuring they hold the funds needed to continue their vital work. Cats Protection relies solely on donations from generous members of the public, and our volunteer treasurers help make sure these funds are spent in the most effective way.
What can you expect to be doing?
- Preparing budgets
- Keeping accurate financial records
- Reporting financial records via ‘Cashlog’ (Cats Protection supplied software)
- Paying invoices and volunteer expenses
- Being part of a team which ensures there are sufficient funds to meet expenditure
- Updating and advising others on income received, expenditure and available funds
- Managing and monitoring donations made to the group
- Following financial procedures e.g. Gift Aid returns and VAT claims
What are the benefits to you and the cats?
You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by overseeing the finances of a local volunteer groups or team. You will meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.
We’re looking for someone with
- Experience or knowledge of accounting, book keeping and/or good numeracy skills
- The ability to collect and present information clearly and logically
- Good communication skills
- Willingness to be part of a team
- Basic IT skills to use Cats Protection systems - training and support can be provided
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to use own initiative
- Committee volunteers need to be aged 18+
Time expectation
Our current volunteer treasurers usually spend between 2 to 4 hours per week in this role. More hours may be required at certain times, such as towards the end of the financial year but support is always available.

Rated ‘Outstanding’ by the CQC, Helen & Douglas House (HDH) is a warm and homely place for babies and children living with life-limiting and terminal conditions and their families. We provide life-enhancing respite and end-of-life care for children living with life-limiting and terminal conditions across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, at our hospice in Oxford, at home or in hospital. We care for babies and young children until the age of 19 as well as their families, and our hospice is filled with laughter, whilst also being a peaceful place where families can create happy memories in their last days, weeks, months or years together.

Our Orchard House service is located within a busy local community. We’d really like to explore and help our Service users to access the activities and groups in the local area.
Your volunteer role will involve regularly meeting with our Service Users and finding out the types of activities and groups they would be interested in joining. You will research the local area using a variety of different search methods including online searches, phone calls, and in person conversations to put together a community groups file.
Once you have put together a list of local connections you will work with our Service Users to make contact with the groups and coordinate their attendance, including planning travel to and from the group or activity, and if they need to provide any particular equipment for the session. For example, if joining a local walking group, you will help the service user to make contact with the group lead to find out where the group meets, what time, and if walking boots and waterproof clothing are needed.
Volunteer duties:
· Consult regularly with Service Users to find out the types of activities or groups they would like to join.
· Scope the local area using a variety of research tools.
· Create a community groups list.
· Act as a connector between the group contact and Service users to join the group.
· Keep in contact with service Users to find out how the group is going, and if they would like to explore different groups.
As a volunteer with Creative Support we offer training for your role, access to a volunteer supervisor, an induction, a monthly volunteer newsletter, and an online volunteer support network group on Zoom.
Suggested time commitment: Monday to Friday, 2 days per week

Living Well Services Dietitian Volunteer
We are looking to add to our list of activities at the Living Well Services, a Health Eating programme, and would love the opportunity to work with a dietitian, who can offer their time and expertise with us in the delivery of this course for those living with a life limiting illness
We know the role of a dietitians can improve a person’s quality of life with a life-limiting illness through symptom control and targeted nutritional support and education that reflects what is important to them. People may live for many years with a palliative diagnosis, so providing support with their nutrition can help to optimise their health and quality of life during this time.
We would work with you to find a way to deliver this that suits you.

As an Activities volunteer you will be facilitating activities with our clients to give them an opportunity to socialise and have a bit of fun! You will teach our clients how to play pool, encourage and engage with the clients that do know how to play, facilitate a light and welcoming group for all, collect or arrange food delivery of pizza/fish and chips etc to have while joining in with the activity.
