About the Professional Development Programme

We believe in full transparency: this role is an unpaid 16-week volunteer opportunity within our Professional Development Programme.

In exchange for your time and creativity (minimum 12 hours/week), we provide a platform with significant autonomy and flexibility. You will gain hands-on experience, build a strong portfolio of meaningful social-impact work, and receive real-world professional development.

The Role

As our Volunteer Video Editor, you will coordinate video and podcast production activities to create high-quality, compelling media across multiple digital platforms. You will collaborate closely with our creative team to shape the visual style and narrative structure of our campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Editing & Production: Edit diverse video content (documentaries, promotional videos, event highlights, web, and broadcast media) and assist in post-production.

  • Creative Input: Pitch ideas and participate in creative discussions regarding project themes, visual style, and narrative direction.

  • Audio & Visual Enhancements: Apply sound effects, music, graphics, and special effects while upholding brand style guidelines.

  • Asset & Source Management: Find scripts and source materials for video and podcast projects.

  • Archiving & Compliance: Maintain clear, comprehensive filing systems for content archives and ensure all content meets quality and brand standards.

  • Project Management: Track post-production workflows, manage files safely, and balance multiple projects simultaneously to meet deadlines.

Who We Are Looking For

Essential Criteria:

  • Technical Skills: Proven experience using Adobe Premiere Pro.

  • Production Background: Prior hands-on experience in video production.

  • Core Qualities: Highly organized, proactive self-starter with excellent time-management skills and the ability to work independently.

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility and eagerness to jump in on various creative tasks.

  • An interest or passion in martial arts is a plus, though not required!

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience with Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, or Avid.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Film Studies, Cinematography, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with colour correction, sound design, and podcast production/editing.

  • Skills in graphic design software such as Adobe After Effects and Photoshop.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced production environment.

Commitment & Equality Statement

This opportunity requires a commitment of 12 hours per week (Monday – Friday) across a 16-week duration.

Our Commitment to Equal Opportunities: QUILOMBO UK is dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace environment that values diversity and promotes equality for all. Adhering strictly to the guidelines of the Equality Act 2010, we ensure all individuals are respected and treated fairly. Discrimination of any kind is strictly not tolerated.
