Job description

If you’re interested in museums, history, the RAF or simply making a difference, we would love to have you on board as part of our Youth Panel.The Youth Panel allows us to hear from you about what you want from our Museum and will allow you to contribute to improving the visitor experience for other young people.RAF Museum London's Youth Panel is open to people aged 16 to 24.

Tasks will include:

  • Helping the Museum to test new ideas,
  • Creating and producing exhibitions and displays,
  • Representing the RAF Museum at events,
  • Taking over our social media accounts once a year,
  • Finding out about what goes on in a museum,
  • Finding out more about the history and role of the RAF.

Training:

All RAF Museum volunteers need to attend an annual Safeguarding training session lasting an hour and available onsite or online. No specific training is required as a Youth Panel member, any necessary training will be carried out as and when needed. During the summer project week training will be provided encompassing the skills and knowledge needed to produce and deliver a museum display.

How much time would I need to commit?

There are between three and six meetings per year and a week in residence during the summer holidays to take on a project which will include the production of an exhibition display. Meetings are in person with the option to join online and are usually on weekends. You are not required to attend all meetings or events.  Come to whichever meetings you are able..

The summer project takes place at the RAF Museum, London. This is usually a Monday-Friday in the school summer holidays. 

As a potential member of the RAF Museum Youth Panel, attendance of a Youth Panel meeting or activity will make up your trial period.
