The impact a volunteer telephone befriender can have on a lonely individual is amazing and for many of our service users our volunteer telephone befrienders are the only people in their lives who can offer quality time for a nice chat. With just one hour of your time per week you can help provide companionship and support for someone suffering from chronic loneliness.
You will have to complete a DBS check and an Adult’s Safeguarding training, both covered by our organisation.
For this role volunteers will gain:

Time Commitment
Volunteers can give a minimum of 1 hour per week and must commit to a minimum of 3 months. However, the longer you commit to this role the more you will benefit.

Man&Boy - Trustees and Treasurer
Man & Boy are seeking at least 3 new Trustees, including a Treasurer, who are passionate about family values and committed to its mission.
Man & Boy work to enhance family relationships, between boys who may be struggling with life and a significant male in their lives. This could be the biological father, but could be a stepfather, grandfather, uncle or even an older sibling. Its programming uses diverse activities where the man can be a role model to the boy, based on fun, encouragement, trust and open communication. It generally focuses on boys between the ages of 8 and 11 years of age, prior to them entering the challenges of adolescence and secondary school.
About Care for Veterans
Care for Veterans (CfV) was established in 1919 as the Queen Alexandra Hospital Home to care for soldiers returning from World War I with life-changing disabilities. For over 100 years, it has provided long term nursing, rehabilitation, respite and end of life care to Veterans and their families. The 62-bed home has been at Gifford House in Worthing since 1933.
CfV are seeking a Trustee with a finance and/or accountancy background, preferably with an ACCA/ICAEW qualification (or equivalent). The successful candidate will join and in time, chair the Finance Committee.
What will you be doing?
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Contributing at four board meetings, a strategy offsite and four Finance sub-committee meetings a year. These are usually held during business hours in Worthing.
· Develop a good understanding of CfV’s operations and the environment in which it operates;
· Monitor the performance of CfV in a constructive and inquisitive way;
· Making their time, skills, and experience available to CfV and its executive (in and outside of regular board meetings) and supporting key fundraising events;
· Average time commitment is 12-15 days per year
What are we looking for?
· You will have a background and/or qualification in finance or accountancy (ACCA/ICAEW or equivalent preferred). You will have strong commitment to the improving the lives of veterans and the work of CfV.
· Previous trustee experience is not necessary as new trustees will be given support and training.
· Due to the work of the charity a DBS check and references will be required.

International Aid for the Protection & Welfare of Animals (IAPWA) was founded in 2009 and aims to provide protection and improve the welfare of animals in need. Our first project is based in Borneo, where we provide a lifeline to thousands of dogs and cats every year in need of veterinary care and support. Our companion animal programmes have since developed in other countries, including Romania and Penang Island, as well as support programmes to help other species.
We have recently relaunched our Auctions for Animals online fundraising events and are searching for enthusiastic volunteers to join our team to help source donations. Ideally our volunteers will have some experience in generating donations/prizes for events, or will be happy to spread the word within your local community and collect new or preloved donations for us.
Tasks will include:

Identifying suitable avenues for donations, creating and building relationships with our supporters and donors and helping to promote IAPWA within your local community.

Assisting with the running of our monthly auction events via our Auctions For Animals Facebook Group.

Help tackle loneliness and isolation in your Community. As a Volunteer Befriender, you will visit an older person in their own home once a week for a chat and to provide companionship.
Our Befriending service supports older adults by alleviating loneliness and isolation, supporting independence, and increasing self-confidence, by making weekly or fortnightly visits to a client living in the borough of Croydon.
We place emphasis on making the right match for you and the client to ensure an enjoyable and rewarding experience. One of the befriending team will work closely with you during the match process and accompany you on your first visit to introduce you to the client.
You will be assigned a line manager who will support and encourage you. The role
We are looking for Saturday Shop Assistant volunteers to support our Eastbourne shop team. The best thing about this is that you can make this role entirely your own: from serving customers at the till, to taking care of bookings, mending items that need a bit of love or bringing your incredible knowledge and passion to our Book section, there is always something to do on the shopfloor!
You will join a wonderful team made of a Shop Manager, Assistant Manager, van driver and van assistants as well as some volunteers. Free hot beverage and biscuits always available on site as well as bi-annual shop team events!
Shift patterns
We are looking for support on Mondays as a priority but would be grateful to receive help anytime. The shift pattern is either a half day (morning shift: 8.30am – 12pm or afternoon shit: 12pm – 4.30pm) or a full day (8.30am – 4.30pm).

Furniture Now! is an East Sussex chain of charity furniture stores, part of the Now! charity group Ltd. We aim to end local poverty and fight for the environment. We act at different levels by making furniture accessible to those most in need through our special two tier discount, working in partnership with social funds to furnish refugees’ homes and issue grants to environmentally and socially focused local actions.
We recently started providing free sanitary products in all 3 of our stores in a bid to end Period Poverty. About you

1. Experience in building successful partnerships to further impact and setting common goals and outcomes.
2. Experience in developing and implementing commercial strategies that identify new income opportunities that help diversity the existing portfolio.
3. Experience in dealing with innovative financial products and how to take them to market.

Alex TLC is a trusted and experienced organisation offering support and information for all those affected by a genetic leukodystrophy. These are a group of often terminal, rare neurodegenerative conditions, affecting people of all ages and backgrounds, most notably children. Established in 2004, we are recognised by the NHS and global stakeholders as the "go to" organisation for those affected by these devastating conditions in the UK.
Like many other small charities, we have grown organically from an informal support group to a thriving organisation supporting over a thousand individuals affected by leukodystrophy worldwide.
We are looking for experienced candidates to help develop and improve our existing beneficiary services as well as create and optimise future opportunities for growth.
It is an exciting time to join Alex TLC and we are delighted to be able to offer this opening to join our Board and complement current trustees.
Alex TLC currently employs 23 staff (three of whom are directly affected by leukodystrophy) and runs a charity shop business comprising five shops to support core costs.
