Do you want to make a real impact on the lives of vulnerable individuals in your community?

We are looking for Client Support Volunteers to assist in the Garden alongside our horticulturists in the supervision of our adult clients and teenagers with a variety of disabilities.

Our volunteers work in the garden with clients, helping them with various tasks such as planting, harvesting, pruning and mowing to name a few, under the guidance of our team of horticulturists. 

As well as general gardening work you will be assisting our clients, both children and adults with the opportunity to achieve a qualification in horticulture.

Other tasks our volunteers help with include general garden maintenance, DIY tasks or craft/cookery activities.

No gardening experience is required, just the ability to get along with others and muck in! This can be a great stepping stone to further education or work opportunities.

At present, we are looking for Volunteers who can offer a regular weekly commitment.

About Us

Focus Surrey runs a Saturday Club for autistic children aged 3 to 16. We provide a fun, supportive and child-centred environment where children develop communication, social interaction and early learning skills through play, guided by the principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Sessions are led by experienced practitioners, including Board Certified Behaviour Analysts (BCBAs).

We are recruiting volunteers to join our Saturday Club and support autistic children through play-based activities. This is a great work experience opportunity for students and individuals who are interested in developing their understanding of children with disabilities and gaining meaningful experience in psychology, SEN, education, therapy or related fields. The role supports early career development by offering practical experience in a structured and supportive setting where volunteers can build foundational skills confidence and understanding

The Role

As a Volunteer Play Assistant, you will support autistic children during structured and creative play activities, helping them build communication, social interaction and confidence in a positive and inclusive environment. You will work with qualified practitioners, gaining direct experience using evidence-based approaches such as ABA in practice, while receiving ongoing support and guidance throughout the sessions.

Volunteers are allocated a specific child based on their experience and interests, allowing you to build consistency and rapport over time. The role involves active engagement with children, responding to individual needs, and contributing positively to a collaborative and supportive team environment.

What You’ll Gain

· Hands-on experience supporting autistic children in a real-world SEN setting

· Practical exposure to Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) in practice

Commitment and Timing

About The Big House

The Big House Multibank exists to improve lives and build a more sustainable Scotland by reducing waste, maximising resources, and supporting families facing hardship. • Organise and support operational meetings across teams 
• Prepare agendas, capture notes and track action points

5. Systems & Workflow Management

• Maintain operational systems (emails, shared documents, trackers, workflows) 
• Ensure systems are organised, accessible and consistently used 
• Support on boarding, access and integration of team members into systems 
• Promote standardised processes and documentation practices 

6. Risk Identification & Escalation

• Identify operational inefficiencies, delays and bottlenecks 
• Proactively flag risks such as missed deadlines or lack of progress 
• Escalate complex, sensitive or high-risk issues to leadership 
• Support resolution by ensuring visibility and follow-through 

7. Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with Team Leads, HR and Operations functions 
• Ensure coordination between teams to avoid duplication or misalignment 
• Support organisational cohesion through structured collaboration 
• Align execution with organisational priorities and capacity 

Scope and Boundaries for the Role

To ensure clarity and efficiency:

The Operations Coordinator WILL:

• Coordinate and track day-to-day operational activities 
• Ensure visibility, follow-through and alignment across teams 
• Support communication, structure and execution of workflows 

The Operations Coordinator WILL NOT:

• Make unilateral strategic or policy decisions 
• Replace Team Leads or assume ownership of departmental outputs 
• Independently enforce performance or manage staff 
• Take on purely analytical or reporting-focused responsibilities 

Working Relationship

The Operations Coordinator will:

• Report to the Director of Central Operations & Executive Coordination 
• Work closely with the Operations Analyst, Team Leads and support functions 
• Enable execution while supporting leadership direction 
• Act as a central coordination link across all teams
