Hairdresser Volunteer

It’s fantastic that you would like to find out more about volunteering at St Mungo’s. As a  Hairdresser volunteer, you will be boosting clients’ self-esteem and confidence by offering dry haircuts and styling their hair, while chatting to clients and getting to know them. For this role it is required that you have experience of hairdressing and a hairdressing qualification and insurance.

Please note for this role we are only looking for volunteers who are female or female identifying. 

Please see all locations and the time commitments we are currently recruiting for in this role:

• Hammersmith and Fulham- The first Thursday of every month, between 9am-5pm, 3 hours per month.

In this role, you will be supporting us with all or some of the following tasks:

• Cutting and styling our clients’ hair. • Chatting to clients and getting to know them while cutting their hair. • Adhering to St Mungo’s Policies and Procedures at all times.

Do I need to have any specific skills?

• Have experience of hairdressing/barbering. • A Hairdressing/Barbering Qualification and Insurance. • Ability to see the best in people and to motivate individuals. • Client and customer focused. • A friendly personality, good interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and motivation. • Good communication skills. • An understanding of the causes of homelessness and its impact. • Genuine interest in and commitment to St Mungo’s work and client group. • An understanding of and commitment to diversity & equality.
