Are you an experienced HR or Volunteer Management professional passionate about creating supportive environments and empowering people? SUNSHINE Charity is a brand-new UK charity dedicated to fighting loneliness and social isolation, and we need your expertise to build and nurture our most valuable asset: our people.

We're searching for a dedicated HR / Volunteer Management Specialist to volunteer and help us establish the policies and practices and set up of our HR / Volunteer Management functions that will ensure our team of volunteers are happy, well-supported, and highly effective. This is a unique opportunity to lay the groundwork for a charity committed to bringing light and connection to vulnerable individuals.

What You'll Be Doing:

You'll play a pivotal role in setting up our people infrastructure, including:

  • Developing core HR policies and procedures tailored for a charity setting, covering areas like recruitment, onboarding, performance, and well-being.

  • Creating a robust volunteer management framework, including recruitment strategies, clear role descriptions, induction processes, training plans, and retention initiatives.

  • Advising on best practices for safeguarding, ensuring the safety and well-being of both our beneficiaries and our team.

  • Ensuring compliance with relevant employment law and charity regulations concerning staff and volunteers.

  • Helping to foster a positive and inclusive organisational culture where everyone feels valued and supported.

  • Potentially assisting with the initial recruitment efforts for our first key volunteer and staff roles.

Who We're Looking For:

  • An HR or Volunteer Management professional with demonstrable experience in developing policies, managing recruitment, and supporting teams.

  • Strong understanding of UK employment law and best practices in volunteer management.

  • Experience with or knowledge of safeguarding principles within a charitable context is highly desirable.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with an empathetic and pragmatic approach.

  • Someone passionate about our cause – combating loneliness and fostering connection.

  • Highly organised, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and capable of working independently.

What We Offer:

  • The incredible opportunity to be a founding builder of the internal backbone of a vital new UK charity.

  • A truly rewarding experience knowing your skills enable a compassionate team to deliver life-changing services.

  • An opportunity to build your portfolio with significant pro-bono work in the charity sector.

  • The flexibility to volunteer part remotely and manage your hours, balancing with your existing commitments.

  • A collaborative and appreciative team that values people-centred approaches.

If you're ready to use your HR and people management expertise to help us build a strong, supportive foundation for SUNSHINE Charity, we'd love to hear from you!
