Job description

SAFEGUARDING VOLUNTEERS (WITH EXPERIENCE)

4–6 Hours Per Week — Very Flexible

  • Protect the Vulnerable.
  • Empower the Team.
  • Help Bring SUNSHINE to Life.

SUNSHINE is stepping boldly into Phase 2 of our journey — and this is the moment where everything begins to take shape.

Our Board of Trustees is appointed and working with passion. Our charity application is submitted. Our vision is clear, our mission is alive, and our purpose has never been more urgent.

Now, we are ready for the next chapter — and we cannot write it without you.

The Role: Build a Culture of Safety, Trust, and Protection

As a 100% volunteer‑run and volunteer‑led start‑up charity, we are searching for experienced, knowledgeable, and deeply committed Safeguarding Volunteers to lead on all safeguarding aspects across SUNSHINE.

This is not just a role. This is an opportunity to shape the protective framework of a movement designed to transform loneliness into belonging across London and beyond.

You will help us create a safeguarding environment that is:

  • Safe — where every participant and volunteer feels protected and respected.

  • Confident — where volunteers know exactly what to do if concerns arise.

  • Team‑spirited — where safeguarding is everyone’s shared responsibility.

  • Impactful — ensuring our programmes uplift without risk or harm.

You Will Lead On:

  • Creating, setting up, and maintaining SUNSHINE’s safeguarding policies, processes, and systems.

  • Leading safeguarding training for all volunteers, ensuring clarity, confidence, and competence.

  • Delivering regular safeguarding briefings and updates.

  • Acting as one of SUNSHINE’s Designated Safeguarding Leads, supporting the services team.

  • Being a point of contact for any safeguarding concerns, disclosures, or incidents.

  • Ensuring all safeguarding actions are handled with professionalism, compassion, and urgency.

  • Helping embed a culture of safety, trust, and accountability across all SUNSHINE programmes.

  • Supporting the development of safe recruitment practices and volunteer onboarding.

If you believe in the power of safeguarding to protect, empower, and uplift communities, this is your moment.

Why SUNSHINE?

  • Because loneliness is not just a feeling — it is a public health crisis.
  • Because too many people are navigating life without a social network to hold them.
  • Because connection, joy, and community spirit should be a right, not a privilege.

SUNSHINE exists to change that.

Our Vision

A world where every individual feels deeply connected, uplifted, and empowered within a vibrant, compassionate community.

Our Mission

To foster connection and enhance wellbeing by creating inclusive, joyful, supportive environments where people come together and truly belong.

Our Values

  • Connection.
  • Community Spirit.
  • Compassion.
  • Joy.
  • Inclusivity.

These aren’t just words — they are the heartbeat of everything we do.

Why You Matter

As a Safeguarding Volunteer, you will be one of the first people to shape SUNSHINE’s culture of protection and trust.

Your leadership will ensure:

  • Our programmes are safe, ethical, and participant‑centred.

  • Volunteers feel confident responding to concerns or disclosures.

  • People at risk of loneliness and isolation receive support safely.

  • SUNSHINE grows on a foundation of integrity, care, and responsibility.

Your expertise will help create a world where no one feels alone — and everyone feels safe.

This Is Your Call to Action

If you have experience in safeguarding, protection, social care, community support, or safeguarding leadership — and if your heart beats for connection, compassion, and community — we would love to welcome you into the SUNSHINE family.

Join us as we build something meaningful, hopeful, and life‑changing. Join us as we bring SUNSHINE to London and beyond. Join us as we create a movement where everyone belongs.

Ready to Make a Difference?

  • Step forward.
  • Be part of our founding safeguarding team.
  • Help us build a brighter, kinder, safer, more connected world.

Apply today and help us bring SUNSHINE to life.
