Role Overview
We are looking for a creative and user-focused Volunteer Product Designer / UX Designer to help design intuitive, accessible, and impactful digital experiences for StackCIC. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving real problems through design and wants to use their skills to create positive social impact while building real-world experience.
You’ll collaborate with developers, project managers, and non-technical stakeholders to shape products and features that genuinely serve our community.
Key Responsibilities
Design user-centred solutions for web and digital products
Translate user needs and organisational goals into thoughtful design outcomes
Create wireframes, user flows, mockups, and prototypes
Collaborate with developers to ensure designs are feasible and implemented accurately
Participate in feedback sessions and iterate on designs
Advocate for usability, accessibility, and inclusive design
Maintain and contribute to basic design systems or style guides
(Optional) Support user research, usability testing, or design audits
Required Skills & Experience
Basic to intermediate experience with:
UX and/or product design principles
Design tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc.)
Wireframing and prototyping
User-centred design and problem-solving
Clear communication and collaboration with technical and non-technical team members
Ability to work independently and manage design tasks in a remote environment
Nice to Have (Not Required)
Experience with accessibility standards (WCAG)
Basic understanding of HTML/CSS or design-to-dev workflows
Experience conducting user research or usability testing
UI/visual design skills and attention to detail
Prior nonprofit or volunteer experience
