Who We Are

At The Kefi Studio, we're all about bringing warmth, connection, and joy to care homes. Our mission? To tackle social isolation head-on by creating meaningful moments for residents—especially those living with dementia. Through student placements and engaging, hands-on activities, we’re helping to brighten lives, spark conversations, and make every day feel special for those who need it most.

About the Role: Care Home Activity Facilitator

We’re on the lookout for passionate, enthusiastic individuals to join us for an unpaid industry placement as Care Home Activity Facilitators in London. This is your chance to make a real impact by organizing and leading fun, interactive sessions for care home residents.

Think arts and crafts, music therapy, gentle exercises, cognitive games, and storytelling—anything that brings a smile and fosters connection! Your creativity and energy will help create a welcoming space where residents can engage, socialize, and simply enjoy the moment.

The Activities We Specialise In

You’ll receive full training in hosting and facilitating a wide range of activities designed to stimulate, engage, and bring joy to residents. These include:

  • Music Therapy – Using rhythm, song, and sound to spark memories and emotions

  • Art Therapy – Creative expression through painting, drawing, and crafts

  • Reminiscence Sessions – Encouraging storytelling and memory-sharing through photos, objects, and discussions

  • Sensory Activities – Engaging the senses with textures, scents, and sounds

  • Gentle Exercises – Chair-based movement and stretching to promote mobility and well-being

  • Cognitive Games – Quizzes, puzzles, and brain teasers to keep the mind active

You don’t need prior experience—just enthusiasm! We’ll equip you with all the skills and confidence needed to lead these activities effectively.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Engaging with residents through chats, games, and group activities

  • Encouraging participation in our activity program

  • Running one-to-one and group sessions tailored to different abilities

  • Designing and preparing fun, inclusive resources

  • Tracking residents' well-being using our engagement forms

  • Supporting activity coordinators with events and special sessions

  • Learning and applying effective communication techniques for engaging individuals with dementia and other cognitive needs

  • Building relationships with residents and making them feel valued

Where You'll Be Based

You’ll travel to care homes across London to run sessions—don’t worry, we do our best to place you within your own or nearby communities to keep things convenient for you!

Why This Is an Amazing Opportunity

This isn’t just a placement—it’s a chance to gain hands-on experience in a care environment while developing essential skills in communication, empathy, and leadership. You’ll get an inside look at the care sector, make meaningful connections, and build an experience that stands out on your CV.

What We’re Looking For

  • A friendly, people-first attitude

  • Flexibility and a willingness to try new things

  • Self-motivation and the ability to work independently when needed

  • A curious mindset—you're not afraid to ask questions or learn new skills

  • A genuine interest in supporting older adults, including those with dementia and complex needs

What’s in It for You?

  • Full training & certification (including dementia awareness, communication techniques, and how to run activities)

  • Ongoing support & feedback to help you grow in the role

  • A recommendation letter to boost your future career prospects

  • Real-world care experience to add to your CV

  • Flexible hours to fit around your schedule

  • Placement within your local or neighboring communities

  • A chance to stay on as a volunteer after your placement ends

The Fine Print

  • All placements must be applied for through our website.

  • Shortlisted applicants will go through an informal interview and induction.

  • While this role gives valuable insight into care work, you won’t be responsible for any clinical or personal care tasks.

  • A DBS check is required (we’ll cover the cost, and we accept a recent DBS from your college if issued within the last three months).

If you're ready to make a difference, gain incredible experience, and bring joy to care home residents, we’d love to hear from you!

Apply now and be part of something truly special
