Who They Are
The Buddy Bag Foundation supports children entering emergency care by providing essential items to those fleeing domestic abuse and coercive control.
The Role
Commitment: Part-time, voluntary
Term: Two years (minimum), reviewed annually
Reports to: Board of Trustees

The Foundation is seeking a Chair to lead its Board of Trustees. This individual will guide the organisation through its medium- and long-term priorities, offering strategic leadership, reinforcing strong governance, and working closely with the CEO/founder and the Board to ensure the charity continues to thrive.
Key Responsibilities

Lead the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective governance and strategic oversight

Chair Board meetings, encouraging inclusive discussion and robust decision-making

Provide support and constructive challenge to the CEO/founder in realising the charity’s vision

Serve as an ambassador for the Foundation, helping to enhance its profile and partnerships

Oversee trustee engagement, development, and succession planning

Ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
What They’re Looking For

Proven leadership experience at board level or in a senior executive role, ideally including charity chair experience

Strong understanding of UK charity governance and trustee duties

Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills

A collaborative leadership approach and commitment to inclusion

Genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable children
Time Commitment

Approximately 1–2 days per month

Preparation for and chairing of bi-monthly trustee meetings (in person, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham)

Availability for ad-hoc support and occasional events
