Who They Are
The Buddy Bag Foundation supports children entering emergency care by providing essential items to those fleeing domestic abuse and coercive control.

The Role
Commitment: Part-time, voluntary
Term: Two years (minimum), reviewed annually
Reports to: Board of Trustees
Application deadline: 20 December

The Foundation is seeking a Chair to lead its Board of Trustees. This individual will guide the organisation through its medium- and long-term priorities, offering strategic leadership, reinforcing strong governance, and working closely with the CEO/founder and the Board to ensure the charity continues to thrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Board of Trustees, ensuring effective governance and strategic oversight

• Chair Board meetings, encouraging inclusive discussion and robust decision-making

• Provide support and constructive challenge to the CEO/founder in realising the charity’s vision

• Serve as an ambassador for the Foundation, helping to enhance its profile and partnerships

• Oversee trustee engagement, development, and succession planning

• Ensure full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

What They’re Looking For

• Proven leadership experience at board level or in a senior executive role, ideally including charity chair experience

• Strong understanding of UK charity governance and trustee duties

• Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills

• A collaborative leadership approach and commitment to inclusion

• Genuine passion for improving outcomes for vulnerable children

Time Commitment

• Approximately 1–2 days per month

• Preparation for and chairing of bi-monthly trustee meetings (in person, Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham)

• Availability for ad-hoc support and occasional events
