Santa's Grotto Volunteer
Help create magical Christmas memories for children and families this festive season by becoming a Santa's Grotto Volunteer!
We're looking for enthusiastic volunteers to Elf us bring the magic of Christmas to life at our Santa's Grotto in Cardiff's Winter Wonderland.
Whether you're keen to step into Santa's boots or become one of Santa's helpful Elves, you'll play an important role in creating a fun, welcoming and memorable experience for the children and families who visit us.
By volunteering in the grotto, you'll be helping us raise vital funds and awareness to ensure no family in Wales lives their child's short life alone.
Considerations:
Age requirement: 18+
Location: Santa's Grotto, Cardiff Winter Wonderland, City Hall Lawn, Cardiff CF10 3ND
Commitment: Flexible. Shifts typically last 3–4 hours between 26 November and 23 December.
Thursdays & Fridays: 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Saturdays & Sundays: 12:00pm - 8:00pm
Monday 21st, Tuesday 22nd & Wednesday 23rd December: 12:00pm - 8:00pm
Background checks: Santa Volunteer - Enhanced DBS required
Elf Volunteer - No DBS required
Santa’s with existing DBS check preferred, but Tŷ Hafan will cover the cost of any new DBS checks required.
Expenses: Reasonable mileage or public transport costs can be claimed for this role in line with Tŷ Hafan's Volunteer Expenses Guidance. Volunteers who wish to claim expenses should follow the agreed process and let the Volunteering Team know in advance.

• Meeting, greeting and chatting to children and their families (Santa)
• Helping create a magical and memorable festive experience
• Giving gifts to children visiting the grotto (Santa and Elves)
• Taking cash and card payments (Elves)
• Taking photographs of children with Santa (Elves)
• Welcoming and supporting families throughout their visit (Elves)
