Role Title: Volunteer Trustee / Board Member

Organisation: Ignite Youth East London

Location: East London (Board Meetings)

Commitment: Quarterly Board Meetings (2 hours), plus preparation time (approx. 3 hours per month total).

Start Date: Immediate

 

About Ignite Youth (East London)

Ignite Youth is a brand-new charity launching a youth club dedicated to empowering young people (ages 11-18) in East London. We aim to provide a safe, engaging, and supportive environment that encourages growth, development, and community spirit. As a founding charity, this is an exciting time to join our governance structure and help define our future.

The Opportunity: Shape Our Future

We are building our inaugural Board of Trustees and seeking passionate, strategic, and committed individuals to provide governance and leadership. As a Trustee, you will be legally responsible for the charity and will guide our strategy, finances, and operational policies to ensure we deliver maximum impact for the youth of East London.

We are particularly interested in candidates who can offer expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Finance/Accountancy (Treasurer experience desirable).

  • Charity Law/Governance.

  • Youth Work/Education/Safeguarding.

  • Fundraising/Income Generation.

  • Marketing/PR/Community Engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the organisation complies with its governing document, charity law, and all statutory regulations.

  • Determine the organisation's overall mission, vision, and strategic direction.

  • Monitor the financial stability and sustainability of the charity.

  • Act as an ambassador for Ignite Youth within the community.

  • Recruit, support, and hold the Senior Management Team (once established) to account.

  • A deep commitment to the mission and values of Ignite Youth and the East London community.

  • Proven professional experience and skills in a relevant area (listed above).

  • Strategic thinking, independent judgment, and a willingness to speak your mind.

  • Willingness to dedicate the necessary time to board meetings and preparatory work.

  • Must be eligible to serve as a Charity Trustee (no disqualifications).
