Job description
In this leadership position, you’ll make sure young people’s real-life experiences guide and shape our organization’s decisions, projects, and policies. You’ll engage with youth participants, run feedback sessions, and translate their perspectives into tangible improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Youth Advisory & Engagement: Create channels (like forums, small group sessions, or online chats) for youth to share ideas and challenges.
- Feedback Integration: Gather insights regularly and turn them into proposals or changes for our programs.
- Advocacy: Act as a champion for care-experienced voices in leadership meetings and strategic planning.
- Training & Support: Help staff and volunteers understand trauma-informed best practices and inclusive approaches.
Qualifications
- Genuine passion for ensuring youth voices are heard and valued.
- Ability to facilitate discussions and help participants feel comfortable sharing personal experiences.
- Willingness to learn about trauma-informed care, if not already familiar.
- Strong people skills - whether it’s listening, leading a group, or brainstorming solutions.
Benefits
- Shape the culture and direction of a growing CIC, ensuring it remains truly youth-led.
- Access to training and mentorship, plus an opportunity to develop professional skills in social care and advocacy.
- Possibility of transitioning into a paid role as funding increases.
Additional Notes:
- Open to Applicants Aged 16+: We believe in giving opportunities to emerging leaders who can bring fresh energy and insight.
- Care Experience is a Bonus: We highly value the voices of those who have personal experience with the care system, but it’s not a requirement.
- Volunteer with Growth Potential: This position is voluntary initially, with the possibility of becoming a paid role when funding is secured.
- Inclusive Culture: We actively encourage applications from diverse backgrounds. Your ideas, perspective, and commitment to young people’s welfare matter most.
