Job description

As the Director of Youth-Led Leadership, you will be the driving force behind programs that empower young people - particularly care-experienced individuals - to take on genuine leadership roles within Vibes in Care CIC and beyond. You’ll design, coordinate, and champion initiatives that place youth voices at the heart of our organisation’s decision-making processes.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Programme Design & Coordination

    • Develop activities, workshops, and pilot programmes that foster leadership skills among care-experienced individuals.
    • Ensure young people have meaningful opportunities to lead, not just participate.
  2. Youth Empowerment & Engagement

    • Recruit, train, and support a diverse pool of young leaders, creating space for them to shape and co-create programs.
    • Coordinate peer-mentoring initiatives and support networks that encourage youth collaboration and mutual learning.
  3. Collaboration Across Teams

    • Work closely with Directors (e.g., Lived Experience Integration, Partnerships & Impact) to integrate youth feedback into organisational planning.
    • Partner with the Chief Finance Officer (CFO) and Chief Vibes Officer (CVO) on budget considerations and strategic growth ideas.
  4. Community Outreach

    • Represent Vibes in Care CIC at external events or community forums to showcase youth-led achievements.
    • Identify new opportunities for youth leaders to engage with local authorities, nonprofits, or schools.
  5. Monitoring & Reporting

    • Track participation, outcomes, and skill development of youth leaders.
    • Collaborate with the Director of Partnerships & Impact to create progress updates and success stories for funders or partners.

Qualifications

  • Passion for Youth Leadership: Whether through personal or professional experience, you genuinely believe in the power of youth to drive change.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to connect with young people from a range of backgrounds and facilitate inclusive group discussions or training sessions.
  • Organisational Abilities: Comfortable juggling multiple tasks, from event planning to volunteer coordination.
  • Team Spirit: Willing to collaborate with a range of staff, volunteers, and external partners.
  • Advantageous but not required: Lived care experience or previous experience in youth advocacy, social care, or community projects.

Why Join Vibes in Care CIC?

  • High-Impact Work: Play a leading role in an organisation that aims to reshape social care practices from the ground up.
  • Professional Growth: Gain hands-on leadership, project management, and advocacy experience. Opportunities for further training and skill development.
  • Inclusive Culture: We welcome applicants 16+ from all backgrounds. Care-experienced individuals are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Potential for Paid Role: This position begins as volunteer/part-time, with a clear pathway to transition into a paid role as organisational funding expands.

Additional Notes:

  • Open to Applicants Aged 16+: We believe in giving opportunities to emerging leaders who can bring fresh energy and insight.
  • Care Experience is a Bonus: We highly value the voices of those who have personal experience with the care system, but it’s not a requirement.
  • Volunteer with Growth Potential: This position is voluntary initially, with the possibility of becoming a paid role when funding is secured.
  • Inclusive Culture: We actively encourage applications from diverse backgrounds. Your ideas, perspective, and commitment to young people’s welfare matter most.
