Our fundraising and engagement team at Teddington RNLI lifeboat station are a successful, motivated and very welcoming group who work brilliantly together as well as closely with the crew and water safety teams at Teddington.
The current fundraising lead is looking for someone to work alongside her and/ or take the lead on specific events and projects - it's all very open to discussion and we are very flexible. Current events range from comedy nights to duck races to station open days and chip suppers but the team are always looking for new ideas and are keen to develop what they do.
Meetings usually happen once a month at the lifeboat station and last about 1.5 hours. We would estimate the commitment, time wise, being around 3-6 hours a week. Some weeks there might be very little to nothing, the week of an event it might well be more like 12 hours, but it really is flexible - we want people to be able to volunteer around existing commitments.
No particular experience is necessary, but strong people skills are important, as are communication skills. Some experience in event management or fundraising would help, but really, this can be taught and learnt - it's much more important to us to find someone who is keen to join us, happy to muck in with everything from manning a duck race in the rain to booking venues for an event, to brainstorming event ideas over a cup of tea.
If you'd like to apply, or just come along to a meeting to see what you think, join us for an event as a one off or have an informal chat about the role contact Hannah via this ad.
Thank you for your support

Introduction
The English-Speaking Union (ESU), is a charity and membership organisation that works to give young people the speaking and listening skills and cross-cultural understanding they need to thrive. The ESU’s speech and debate programmes and international exchanges improve young people’s attainment, self-esteem and social skills, helping them to fulfil their potential and to change their lives and communities for the better.
We are looking for volunteers to help support and judge our competitions, please find details below:
- Schools’ Mace - The oldest debating competition for schools in England and Wales (ages 11-18)
- Public Speaking Competition - The largest such competition for schools in England and Wales (ages 13-16)
- Performing Shakespeare Competition - Students express their passion and imagination and compete for a chance to perform at Shakespeare’s Globe (ages 11-14)
You don’t need to be a debater or public speaker yourself – you just need to be enthusiastic about encouraging and inspiring young people to be the best they can be. There are opportunities throughout the year, each requiring around 4-5 hours’ commitment from late afternoon onwards. Full training is given, and it’s great fun, with students often covering thought-provoking topics from obesity and the NHS to Churchill and what defines happiness.
We look forward to welcoming you soon and can't wait to get you started!

We are currently seeking to recruit two to three more volunteer Trustees.
Citizens Advice Cornwall is an independent charity and a member of the national Citizens Advice service. We offer free, independent, confidential and impartial advice to individuals across Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly on issues such as debt, welfare benefits, employment, housing, and consumer problems. We also research and campaign on a range of social and consumer issues. Our services are delivered by a team of highly-skilled and motivated volunteers and paid staff. The successful candidates will join our Trustee Board, which provides strategic direction and oversight to the charity. We’re looking for ambitious and forward-thinking people to help us deliver on our dual mission of advice and advocacy.
This position would suit someone taking their first steps to develop wider board level experience, and for those who might be new to governance. We welcome applications from all ages and backgrounds, so no matter what experience you have, we will provide full induction, onboarding and regular training for your Trustee role.
At Citizens Advice Cornwall, we embrace and value diversity and we feel passionately that our Board should be representative of the diverse communities we serve. We’re looking for people who understand the reasons why people turn to us for help and support, helping us to continually evolve our work with this in mind. We therefore particularly welcome applications from those who may have lived experience of the issues our clients face, and we encourage people from all ages, communities and backgrounds to join us.
We’re also looking for people who have strategic-level experience in one or more areas where we’re building our capability:
· Fundraising and Marketing,
· Using data and insight to campaign for policy and practice change,
· Digital and Cyber Security Expertise
This is an exciting time for our organisation, providing opportunity to bring in fresh perspectives and skills to our Board. We’ll also be looking to recruit a new Chair of the Board later in 2025, and so this could be an opportunity to build up knowledge and experience of our service, if you are interested in this role.
Interviews will be held in late October (provisionally 24th/25th October 2024).

Thank you for your interest to become a Fundraising Volunteer at Cats Protection!
Cats Protection is the UK’s leading feline welfare charity and our vision is a world where every cat is treated with kindness and an understanding of its needs.
Cats are at the centre of everything we do and our objectives are: homing, neutering and educating people about cats and their care.
We help thousands of cats across the UK each year thanks to our network of dedicated volunteers, employees and supporters.
A bit about this role:
As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. Using their passion and imagination, they oversee a small team of fundraising volunteers who come together to raise the vital funds needed to cover costs such as veterinary bills and food. Our fundraising team leaders support their team of volunteers in all aspects of their roles, making sure our volunteers are happy, confident and supported.

· Planning fundraising events and activities with your team
· Allocating tasks before and during fundraising events
· Keeping financial records from fundraising events
· Encouraging and promoting a professional image of Cats Protection
· Following policies and guidelines and ensuring licences and permits are obtained for events
What are the benefits to you and the cats?
You will develop new skills, expand your knowledge and make a significant contribution to improving the lives of cats and kittens by helping raise funds and awareness through organising local events. You will also meet new people, make new friends and be part of a dedicated team of volunteers.
We're looking for someone with:
· Great people skills and the ability to bring out the best in others
· Excellent organisational skills
· The ability to prioritise and delegate
· An appreciation of the importance of handling money and charity resources responsibly
· Fine-tuned communication skills and a passion for engaging with people within your local community
· Basic IT skills to use Cats Protection systems - training and support can be provided
· Committee volunteers need to be aged 18+
Time expectation
Our fundraising team leaders usually spend three to four hours per week in this role, which is flexible and can be shared by more than one volunteer if needed.
Support, guidance and keeping you safe
At Cats Protection we believe our volunteers should be happy and confident in their roles. We provide support and guidance from our National Cat Centre and through our regional and local volunteer groups and teams. We offer engaging online and face-to-face training, expenses and have policies and processes to help volunteers get the most out of their time with us.
The wellbeing of our people is important and at Cats Protection we are committed to safeguarding children, adults at risk and all those that we come into contact with as part of our activities.
