Are you a fluent Farsi speaker with a passion for helping others? We are seeking dedicated volunteers to assist women in improving their English language skills. Improving someone’s understanding and spoken English language, will allow individuals to communicate and connect with people in their local community, widen their network of friendships and relationships, and provide people opportunity to improve their employability skills. We are looking for a face-to-face volunteer for a minimum of 1 hour per week who is available between hours 11am – 2.30pm Monday-Friday!

What you will be doing

• To support individuals who are not confident with spoken English to develop their reading, writing and conversational skills through one-to-one sessions.
• Agree a mutual agreeable time and frequency that works for both parties
• Engage in conversation, allowing the person to feel supported and comfortable to practice speaking English Preparing and delivering sessions independently including setting work and assessing
• To keep records of conversations and update the support worker on progress of sessions.
• Support the individual to identify and register for courses

Voluntary position, based at our office in Clerkenwell, London
Full-time or part-time (3-4 days per week for a minimum of three months)

Suitable for: Legal researchers or Lawyers qualified in any jurisdiction (there is no minimum PQE requirement) with expertise in international human rights and humanitarian law
Fluency in English is essential. Fluency in Turkish and/or French would be highly desirable

The Democratic Progress Institute (DPI) is seeking to appoint several legal volunteers with an interest in our work relating to conflict resolution. We are offering a number of internships to outstanding candidates. Admission to our internship program is on a rolling-basis, lasting at least three months, and is unpaid. The successful candidates will be current or recent postgraduates or at post-doctoral level.

Volunteers recruited to DPI’s International Law Department will assist with all areas of its work, in particular, current projects relating to the implementation of ECtHR judgments in Turkey and legal analysis on matters related to international humanitarian law. Other work could include legal research, monitoring and analysis of human rights issues, documentation/organisation of legal materials, analysis of ECtHR judgments, preparing and drafting communications to United Nations bodies, contributing to casework, preparing papers for submission to the Human Dimension of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe, editing reports, and providing general support to the legal team. In return, we will provide experience of and insight into the world of international human rights litigation and exposure to legal research at the forefront of conflict-resolution and peace-building.

The suitable candidate will be available ideally full time (Monday to Friday, 9.30 to 17.30) but other arrangements can be made. You will have the opportunity to assist with the general work of the legal department for a period of three to six months, with a particular focus on our legal case-work and on the implementation of ECtHR judgments in Turkey. Candidates are expected to have excellent verbal and written English skills, a strong visual eye, good attention to detail and strong organisational skills. Working well either alone or as part of a team, you will have experience of working with a diverse range of people.

• Able to safely transport rabbits to vet visits or meet-and-greets.
• Provide a secure, clean, and loving home—indoors or outdoors.
• Ideally, have experience with rescue rabbits.
• Committed to fostering long-term.

Foster Carer Responsibilities:

• Daily Love & Care: Feed, groom, and socialise your foster rabbits, giving them the warmth and attention they deserve.
• Attending appointment: Bring your rabbits to the sanctuary for vet visits or adoption meet-and-greets. Urgent vet trips may be needed if your foster becomes unwell.
• Stay Connected: Share updates and photos to help us track their progress.
• Follow Their Plan: By following each rabbit's tailored care program, you ensure they have the best chance of success.

Kidney Research UK’s Lay Advisory Group are currently looking for a new lead. In this vital and rewarding role, you would help ensure that people affected by kidney disease influence all aspects of our work. As lead of the Lay Advisory Group, you would have a key role within the charity championing the involvement of patients to transform kidney health and presenting patient views at our trustee board meetings.

The Lay Advisory Group helps drive and strengthen patient and public involvement (PPI) within Kidney Research UK and provides opportunities to influence change externally to help transform kidney health. This is a senior volunteer role and will provide effective leadership for the Lay Advisory Group and its work.

After leading the group for five successful years, the current lead is stepping down, so we are looking to appoint a new lead.

Support Session Volunteer

You’ll be supporting people over the age of 18 with disabilities, this may include those with poor mental health, learning difficulties, autism and other disabilities.  Your role will include supporting clients to understand and undertake a task on a one-to-one basis.  The task will vary from client to client as will the needs of the individual. 

As a support session volunteer, you might: 

• help people have their say when it matters most
• Helping individuals navigate challenges and ensuring their needs are met
• help people to make complaints and use local services 

All volunteering will take place Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00.  You will need to be over 18 years old and be living in the UK. Please note that there is no opportunity to volunteer at weekends or in the evening.

Being a Governor in the FE sector is like no other voluntary role.  At Derby College Group, you will be a member of the Board of Corporation led by our Chair, Andrew Cochrane, contributing to the overall responsibilities of the Board, which include:

• Course Marshals (10 people) – Support and encourage runners along the course and help keep everything running smoothly. Full briefing provided by the Reading Half Marathon team.
• Charity Tent & Cheer Team (4–6 people) – Welcome our runners, take photos, cheer them home and represent the Charlie Waller Trust in the Event Village.

About the event
This is an exciting new opportunity for us as we become a Bronze Charity Partner of the Reading Half Marathon for the first time. We have runners taking part on behalf of the Trust, and as part of our partnership we are providing volunteer course marshals. It’s a brilliant chance to raise our profile locally and support our amazing runners.

Other information

• Children are welcome to join the cheer team (as long as they’re with a responsible adult) to help shake instruments and hand out sweets.
• Course marshalling involves being on your feet and walking; charity tent roles can be seated.

White Ribbon UK is the leading charity in England and Wales working to engage men and boys in ending men’s violence against women and girls. We do this by challenging harmful attitudes, behaviours, and systems that allow gender-based violence to continue. We encourage men and boys to take responsibility and become allies in creating a safer, more equal society.

As a trustee, you will help guide the charity’s work and make sure we stay true to our mission. You will work with other trustees and the CEO to oversee strategy, finances, and risk, and ensure the charity is well run and sustainable. This is a voluntary role; reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.

• Attend six board meetings a year (mostly online) and read papers in advance.

We are in a period of growth, expansion and change.  So we are looking for people with  previous experience serving on a charity trustee board, with an understanding of small charities, who are keen to help us grow and an understanding that we will need to take some risks. We are looking for someone who understands charity governance and can bring skills in areas such as influencing policy makers, campaigning, fundraising, finance, and general governance.  You must share our commitment to ending men’s violence against women, social justice and gender equality and be willing to give your time and energy to help us achieve our goals.

About the role:

We are currently seeking qualified, women solicitor, barrister and qualified legal executive volunteers to provide legal advice on our Sexual Harassment at Work (Employment Law) advice line. All volunteering is done remotely and you must be qualified to practice in England and Wales.

What will you be doing?

Our free telephone advice line provides vital legal advice for women experiencing sexual harassment at work, supported by legal advisors with experience in employment, discrimination and harassment law. We offer a safe space for women to talk about their situation and receive expert legal advice to enable them to make important decisions about their future.

We ask all our volunteers to:

• Provide advice on our advice lines for one 2-hour session a month (minimum);
• Attend the induction training session provided by Rights of Women;
• Give clear and accurate legal advice to callers;
• Be non-judgemental and non-discriminatory in their approach;
• Follow our procedures for making records of calls and obtaining monitoring information;
• Keep up to date with the law for the relevant advice lines;
• Attend all agreed advice line sessions (remotely);
• Inform us as soon as possible if they are unable to attend an agreed session;
• Abide by Rights of Women’s procedures, standards and policies, including equal opportunities and confidentiality in relation to staff, volunteers and users.

What are we looking for?

The qualifications and skills we look for in a volunteer are:

• A woman solicitor, barrister or CILEx member;
• A current practicing certificate;
• Ability to work remotely with adequate internet access and a private space;
• Good communication skills;
• The ability to deliver advice clearly and calmly;
