For over 70 years, Age UK Lambeth has been at the heart of the community, supporting older people to live well, stay connected, and feel valued. Last year, our services supported over 6,700 older people in Lambeth and we are proud of our work and our history. We are excited about the future, and we need passionate individuals to help us shape it.

We are seeking new Trustees to join our Board and play a vital, strategic role in guiding our charity’s work. We actively encourage applications from individuals of all ages, backgrounds, genders, and professional experiences, as diverse perspectives are crucial to serving our community. We’re looking for detail-orientated, proactive people who’d like to use their research or writing skills to help strengthen our funding applications and impact reporting.

As a Research and Bid Support Volunteer, you’ll help identify funding opportunities, gather data and evidence, and support the preparation of grant proposals. You’ll also assist with compiling feedback and monitoring information that helps us demonstrate the difference our work makes.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys research, analysis and writing and wants to gain experience in how charities develop projects and secure funding.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Researching grant opportunities that align with our programmes and priorities
• Helping gather data, statistics and community evidence to support funding applications
• Reviewing funder guidelines and eligibility criteria
• Assisting with drafting or formatting sections of funding proposals
• Collecting quotes, case studies and outcomes to demonstrate impact
• Supporting report preparation and data organisation for monitoring and evaluation

Across the UK, our 65 local branches work with disabled people to help them live the lives they choose. Our network of skilled volunteers respond to thousands of requests each year to design and make customised equipment free of charge.

Our volunteer Fundraisers use their organisational and people skills, as well as creativity and a sense of fun, to raise vital funds for their local branch.

What the role involves

This is a varied role that each branch can do a little differently, but it may include the following responsibilities, with potential for additional fundraising opportunities:

· Organising fundraising events big and small

· Identifying and helping to apply for local grants

What you’ll need for this role

· An interest in fundraising – prior experience isn’t a must

· Able to work independently from home

· Willing to attend meetings of your local branch

· A commitment to our aims and values

You’ll also need to complete the induction checklist and a reference check.

Volunteer Community Transport Driver

Are you a friendly, reliable, and safe driver with a passion for helping others in your community? We're looking for dedicated Volunteer Community Transport Drivers to provide a vital service, enabling individuals to access essential appointments, social activities, and more.

What you'll be doing:

• Accepting and completing pre-arranged journeys for our clients.
• Keeping a meticulous log of all journeys undertaken and client requests.
• Waiting for clients for return journeys, ensuring their comfort and timely transport.
• Reimbursing UFY for booking fees on a regular basis (details will be provided during induction).

We'll provide you with:

• Full initial induction and training to ensure you're confident and prepared.
• Support and information to apply for a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which is a requirement for this role.
• Specific induction and training on electric vehicle (EV) operations if you are an EV driver.

We're looking for someone who is:

• A safe and confident driver with a valid UK driving license.
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to their volunteer shifts.
• Patient and understanding, with a good level of interpersonal skills.
• Comfortable keeping accurate records.
• Able to treat all clients with respect and dignity.

Youth Helpers work directly with young people in St John Ambulance Badger Setts and Cadet Units, by supporting our Youth Leaders to deliver a sessions across our range of programmes. In this role, you'll support the learning and development of young people into the next generation of health citizens. Youth Helpers also help young people develop their confidence, teamwork skills, self-discipline, and generally encourage them to strive to be the best they can be, as well as supervise and support other adult volunteers in their team.

You’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time.

This Group meet on a Friday evening.

We’re looking for creative, enthusiastic people who enjoy photography, storytelling and social media to help share the work we do and the difference it makes in our communities.

As a Digital Media Volunteer, you’ll help capture and share real stories from our projects and events, creating engaging content for social media, newsletters and other digital platforms. You’ll play a key role in helping us celebrate achievements, highlight opportunities and inspire others to get involved.

This is a flexible role for anyone who enjoys being creative and wants to use their digital skills for a positive cause.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Creating and scheduling social media posts across platforms
• Taking photographs or short videos during activities and events
• Writing captions, stories or updates that highlight community impact
• Helping prepare content for newsletters, blogs or website updates
• Supporting engagement by monitoring comments and interactions online
• Organising photos, videos and creative assets for use in campaigns

Skills and Qualities We’re Looking For

• Creative eye for photography, video or design
• Confidence using social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
• Good writing and communication skills
• Basic knowledge of tools like Canva or other editing apps (training can be provided)
• Organised and reliable with good attention to detail
• Respect for safeguarding, consent and confidentiality when sharing media

At Acorns we provide care and support for life limited or life threatened children and their families. We are a charity, and our fundraising is vital to enable us to continue providing care and support to the children: it costs around £13 million a year to run our care services.

From elderly moggies to energic kittens, every day across the UK cats and kittens are in need of a temporary place to stay, and lots of love and TLC! We need more fosterers like you to provide a safe, temporary haven for cats and kittens and provide them with everything they need before they get their chance to land on their four paws and make a house a home.

A bit more information about this role and the team

The branch are looking for indoor and outdoor Fosterer volunteers.

What we need from you 

• A stable, safe and compassionate environment in your home or in a purpose-built pen in your garden provided by us
• Enrich the cats’ experience in care including play, exercise and appropriate handling/interaction
• A willingness to complete some training in order to provide high standards of cat welfare
• Introduce cats to prospective adopters so they can find their forever home

Time expectation

Our volunteer fosterers usually spend around one and a half hours per day (around 10 to 13 hours per week) in this role, but this might vary depending on the number of cats or kittens in care.

As a charity we are able to help thousands of cats each year thanks to the generous donations we receive from members of the public. Our fundraising team leaders have the exciting and varied role of inspiring our fundraising volunteers to plan and deliver local fundraising events. At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. 

Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. Our Community Volunteers will work alongside our County Representatives to support our Fundraising Team by being the public face of Combat Stress in their local county, and will help build support from individuals and groups by raising awareness and funds. Income generation is key to our continued success and the support of volunteers enables us to raise more funds to support former servicemen and women, so that when a veteran is having a tough time, we’re there to help tackle the past and to help them take on the future.

• Sign-posting queries from members of the public
• Keeping branch records and information up to date and secure, using Cats Protection systems – training will be provided
