Across the UK, our 270 local groups play a vital part in supporting people affected by MS. They provide sense of belonging, unity and friendship. And they deliver services and support for their local MS community.

We are looking to recruit a Group Coordinator for our Gwynedd/Ynys Mon group. As our local Group Coordinator you’ll take the lead in making sure your local group works as effectively as possible. You’ll recruit, induct and support other group volunteers to make sure your group’s activities meet the needs of your local MS community.The Gwynedd/Ynys Mon group extends from Holyhead to Dolgellau and covers all areas in-between. In this role you’ll be able to develop your leadership, management, communication, organisation and motivation skills.

We are looking to recruit a Health and Safety Volunteer for the Gwynedd/Ynys Mon Group. As a Health and Safety Volunteer you’ll make sure all local group members are aware of their health and safety responsibilities. You’ll help them understand and follow guidelines and procedures to coordinate safe activities.The Gwynedd/Ynys Mon group extends from Holyhead to Dolgellau and covers all areas in-between.

Over past decades, enormous advances have been made in our understanding of MS. Research has got us to a critical point, and we can see a future where nobody needs to worry about their MS getting worse. Our Stop MS Appeal needs to raise £100 million to find treatments for everyone with MS.

Our Stop MS Champions help us reach more people and inspire them to get involved in our Stop MS Appeal by encouraging raising funds and awareness by delivering presentations, attending events and identifying new audiences to speak to. They inspire people to engage with and influence fundraisers and groups, enthuse people and make sure our community’s voice is heard.

As our Lead Stop MS Champion, you’ll motivate your team of Stop MS Champions to help reach more people and inspire them to get involved in our Stop MS Appeal.

By using your ability to motivate and support, you will oversee and lead a team of 5-10 Stop MS Champion volunteers, encouraging them to engage the people they know to raise funds and awareness, and provide reliable information and guidance.

You’ll also network to engage with and influence fundraisers and community groups, enthusing people by delivering presentations at events and finding new audiences to speak to. In this role, as well as developing your leadership, networking, influencing, communication, organisation and presentation skills, you’ll have a chance to be part of something amazing – you could help us stop MS.

We are recruiting a volunteer to join our Board of Trustees

• Time commitment: 6–10 hrs a month
• Location: meetings held in person in Southampton/Virtual

Key responsibilities

Spring Impact’s Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the charity, supporting its organisational development and ensuring that it delivers against its mission.

We ask all Trustees to:

• Regularly attend Board meetings and contribute their specific knowledge or experience to help the Board reach sound decisions.
• Work with the Chief Executive to develop long-term strategy and set business plans and objectives.
• Ensure that Spring Impact and its representatives operate within the legal and regulatory framework of the charity sector and in line with its governing documents.
• Guard Spring Impact’s values and uphold the confidence and trust of its clients, staff and other stakeholders.
• Work effectively with other members of the Board.
• Act as an enthusiastic ambassador for Spring Impact, helping to build our network and donor base.

Board and Committee meetings

There are usually four Board meetings per year, typically of two hours’ duration; physical attendance is recommended for those based in London but otherwise online. There is also an annual in-person Away Day meeting in London. Board members also commit to joining at least one Board sub-committee, which typically meets quarterly. Currently, there are three such committees: Finance, Client Impact and People.

Remuneration

The role of Trustee is voluntary and not accompanied by any financial remuneration.

Reasonable expenses such as travel or childcare may be claimed, together with the costs of attending relevant training courses and the like.

Term of office

Normally, two three-year terms. The maximum is a total of three terms.

Key skills and experiences

• Extensive general legal experience – definitely including the law relating to UK registered charities and companies, ideally also including experience of entities operating internationally. 
• Commitment to Spring Impact’s mission and values and a willingness to devote the necessary time and effort to the Trustee role.
• An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of Trusteeship.
• A well-rounded understanding of the work of non-profit organisations, ideally gained through senior leadership roles in the sector.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to challenge and contribute to the work of the Board in a collegiate, constructive and supportive manner.
• Understanding of Spring Impact’s business model – charity consulting, scaling impact, etc.

We are seeking to appoint a treasurer (voluntary role) to sit on the board of trustees at Know Your Worth. Know Your Worth is a charity dedicated to helping teenage girls grow self-esteem. Trustees are at the heart of this mission. As a trustee, you help shape the future of our charity. You bring your experience, insight, and care to help guide our strategy, hold us accountable to our values, and ensure our resources are used wisely. 

 We are specifically looking for someone with:

• A passion for the cause of helping teenage girls to grow self-esteem
• Senior finance experience (10+ years).
• Previous treasurer experience on another board (ideally within the charity or non-profit sector).
• An ability to work as a team, courage to challenge constructively where appropriate, whilst being self-aware.
• An awareness of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of trusteeship. Being available (within reason) to support the CEO with any financial queries or issues

Volunteering for Sense

Our amazing team of volunteers help us run over 100 shops across England and Wales.  Every donated item that you sort, prepare and sell helps to raise vital funds to support us in our mission to make sure no one, no matter how complex their disabilities, is isolated, left out, or unable to fulfil their potential. Our shops are at the heart of local communities – sharing the work of Sense, and helping to secure support for our life changing work.

What your role will involve

There are a variety of tasks that you can get involved with in the shop, including:

• Welcoming and assisting customers, providing great customer service and a fantastic shopping experience
• Receiving donated goods from members of the public
• Sorting, steaming, tagging and preparing donated goods for sale
• Creating eye catching window and in-shop displays
• Keeping the shop floor well stocked, tidy, clean and organised
• Processing sales and serving on the till
• Promoting Gift Aid and other Sense fundraising initiatives
• Acting as an ambassador for Sense; promoting the shop and Sense in your local community
• Supporting with the recruitment and training of new volunteers
• Following new health and safety measures to ensure the safety of everyone

At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education. 

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives. 

Through volunteering as a Community First Aider, you’ll get a huge sense of satisfaction and pride delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, great for your community and great for our nation, and it requires only a small commitment of your time. 

We will make sure you will have access to a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the training you need for the role you take on. We will also provide you with a supportive environment while you are volunteering with us. Information about our volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions. What you can expect from SJA, and what we expect from those who volunteer with us, is included in the volunteer charter.

We meet Monday evenings 19:30 - 21:00 at John Storer House, Ward's End in Loughborough. There is no requirement to attend every week and volunteers may wish to meet fortnightly, monthly or any variation on this. There will be training courses made available that typically happen on weekends and frequent opportunities throughout the year, both weekdays and weekends, to volunteer in the CFA role at events.

Introduction and Interview event/ Candidates will be invited to attend a day when we will deliver a short introduction to the role and then perform Interview and ID checks for candidates.

Local Welcome and Induction provided, and new Volunteers will have a buddy to support them.

Community First Aid course - 2 Days (Typically a Weekend) delivered in Leicester.
