Vice Chair of Trustees

The Vice Chair provides crucial support to the Chair and the Board of Trustees, ensuring the charity's smooth operation and strategic direction. You will act as a deputy, take on additional tasks, and help manage the chair's workload. The Vice Chair's role can vary, but generally involves supporting the chair, acting as a sounding board, and sharing responsibilities. 

Duties can involve:

Support the work of the Chair, and deputise where necessary, in the execution of the following responsibilities, in order to:

• Provide leadership to the charity and its Board, to ensure it operates within its charitable objectives, with a clear strategic direction for the executive team.

• Ensure that Trustees fulfil their duties and responsibilities for effective governance.

• Ensure that meetings are regular and effective.

• Work with the Chair and Chief Executive Officer to ensure that sub-committees make effective and timely recommendations to the Board. • Lead a sub- committee of the board responsible for business development, and/ or such other sub-committees, teams, or working groups as may be created by the board.

• Review the performance of the board.

• Assist with the recruitment of new trustees.

Essential experiance should include:

• Experience as a trustee of a charity

• Be committed to the organisation and has sufficient time and willingness to contribute effectively to board proceedings

• Be able to work effectively as a member of a team 

• Be able to make quick and sound decisions based on an analysis of information presented to them

• Have a passion for the social sector and social change 

• Be able to manage risks with a balanced and informed approach
