We empower Ugandan communities with mental health, WASH, education, and climate resilience initiatives.​

About the Role

We are looking for a creative, proactive, and mission-driven communications professional who can help strengthen our public image, increase awareness of our programs, and engage supporters, volunteers, donors, and partners through impactful storytelling and strategic communication.
The ideal volunteer should have prior experience in nonprofit communications, public relations, journalism, media, digital communications, or a related field. Experience working with NGOs, charities, community-based organizations, or social impact initiatives is highly valued.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about using communication as a tool for social change and community transformation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement communication and public relations strategies that strengthen the organization’s visibility and impact.
  • Create compelling content for social media, newsletters, blogs, campaigns, and website updates.
  • Draft press releases, partnership letters, media briefs, impact stories, and organizational updates.
  • Help manage and grow the organization’s online presence across digital platforms.
  • Support media outreach and build relationships with journalists, bloggers, partners, and supporters.
  • Capture and share stories of impact from our community programs and campaigns.
  • Assist in branding, campaign messaging, and public awareness initiatives.
  • Collaborate with different departments to promote organizational activities, events, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Support communication efforts for projects including:
    • Mental Health Awareness (Kyogere Campaign)
    • WASH & Sanitation Advocacy
    • Climate Action & Green Eco-Lab
    • Quality Education & Flow with Dignity Campaign

Requirements

  • Previous experience in Public Relations, Communications, Media, Journalism, Marketing, Digital Communications, or related fields.
  • Prior nonprofit, volunteer, NGO, advocacy, or social impact experience is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Strong storytelling and content creation abilities.
  • Familiarity with social media management and digital engagement tools.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate remotely with an international volunteer team.
  • Creative thinking, professionalism, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Graphic design, video editing, photography, or media production skills are an added advantage.
