Using your knowledge of the Education Sector you will build strong partnerships with schools and colleges to deliver nutrition and lifestyle based interventions that inspire children and young adults to eat more real and natural food!

What will you be doing?

In this immensely important and pivotal role within CFK you will: 

• Build a team of like-minded volunteers who have a good understanding of the education sector including how schools run, the curriculum and the most effective ways of educating and inspiring children and their families
• Lead and inspire your team to design, refine and deliver inspiring interventions
• Design and develop strategies to support the achievement of the CFK project goals
• Lead the design, delivery and implementation of interventions within school settings
• Build strong relationships with current and potential intervention sites (i.e. schools), strategic partners and other CFK Teams

What are we looking for?

About You

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Experience working with children, educators / teachers and parents in school settings 
• A clear and visible passion for improving the health and wellbeing of children through nutrition and lifestyle
• Some formal training in working with children, for example as teacher, Head Teacher, teaching assistant, educationalist, health/sport coach
• Strong management and leadership experience and skills  
• A natural ability to inspire others 
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage projects effectively
• Articulate written, visual and verbal communicator - fluency in English is essential 
• Experience and interest in working with authorities (ideal but not essential)

As a team of volunteers, we are ever so grateful to everyone who agrees to contribute some of their valuable time to the project. As a Team Leader we ask for a commitment of 5-6 hours per week (on average). 

All are voluntary positions with no remuneration offered other than what we hope will be a huge amount of job satisfaction and fun, working with like-minded people with a passion for making a real difference to future generations.

This role will be to act as a teaching assistant to tutors delivering ESOL/ English classes for learners 19+.

Animal Fosterer

As an animal fosterer, you would be supporting the RSPCA in providing either our cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, or other small furries with the safety of your home whilst tending to their welfare needs such as feeding and grooming. In addition to this, by providing a temporary loving environment, you will play a crucial role in their wellbeing and socialisation, which will significantly improve their chances of successful rehoming.

Once everything is in place, the animal center will guide you through the fostering process and ensure that you have all the necessary equipment, food, and veterinary care for your foster. The RSPCA is also happy to reimburse any other pre-agreed expenses that you may incur through volunteering for us.

Whilst our animals are in your foster care, you will:

• Provide them with care, suitable housing, and a safe environment as per our policies and guidelines.
• Feed, water, and groom them in line with our advice.
• Transport them to any veterinary appointments if required.
• Provide them with your time and patience.
• Help us spread the word about the animals in your care so they might find their forever home quicker.
• Playing and cuddles are also a must!

What we are looking for in a volunteer Fosterer

• Volunteers aged 18 or over who have had plenty of experience caring for animals.
• Fostering experience is beneficial but not essential as training is provided.
• For their wellbeing, the whole family should be on board with fostering an animal.
• Any existing pets or animals need to have been spayed/neutered (some medical reasons may mean they cannot be so, please let us know if this is the case).
• You will need to live in our branches area.
• You will need to be able to pick up supplies from our office in Eastcote and transport animals to the vets for routine and emergency appointments.

Treasurer – Role Summary

The Treasurer plays a vital role in overseeing the financial health and sustainability of the charity. They monitor financial performance and report to the Board of Trustees and Chief Officer at both Board and Finance Sub-Committee meetings. This includes detailed reporting on income and expenditure against budget, cash flow, the balance sheet, and the charity’s reserves position.

The Treasurer liaises with the charity’s external independent examiners, guiding and advising fellow trustees to ensure the formal approval of the annual report and accounts. They also ensure that the Chief Officer submits annual accounts and returns to all relevant regulatory bodies in a timely and compliant manner.

Acting as a steward of the charity’s finances, the Treasurer ensures that financial management and investment practices are responsible, legal, and aligned with accepted accounting standards. They are also responsible for ensuring the maintenance of proper financial records and the implementation of effective financial procedures.

Specific Responsibilities

• Liaise with the charity’s external bookkeepers to ensure that all financial records are accurately maintained and up to date.

• In conjunction with the bookkeepers, review and/or prepare monthly management accounts. Investigate any significant variances from the budget.

• Submit monthly management accounts and a summary of key figures to the Finance Sub-Committee. Provide written or verbal reports to the Board in advance of, or at, formal trustees’ meetings.

• Review and update the charity’s Finance Policy and Procedures on an annual basis to ensure ongoing compliance and relevance.

• Act as a countersignatory for bank payments and funding applications as required.

• Collaborate with the Chief Officer on the preparation of the annual budget, presenting a draft to the Finance Sub-Committee for review and recommending its adoption to the Board of Trustees before the start of the financial year.

• Ensure that all strategic and operational plans are financially appraised and that corresponding budgets align with both short-term and long-term objectives.

• Support the Chief Officer in ensuring compliance with the financial filing requirements of Companies House and the Charity Commission.

We are looking for an Education trustee for Lancaster Independent School for Alternative Learning with senior educational experience.

What will you be doing?

We are looking for an Education Trustees who can contribute to the strategic direction of our small independent school based in Lancaster, Ofsted rated "Good"; attending termly Board meetings required by the independent school standards. 

The Board meetings are usually on a Friday afternoon and can be attended remotely.

Be the trustee presence on the Education Committee (other members of the committee are senior teaching staff), to provide oversight of the School Improvement plan and report back to the board of Trustees on status; attending bi-termly Education Committee Meetings.

The Education Trustee has line manager responsibility of two members of the school senior leadership team, including annual performance reviews.

At least once per term (3 times per year) the Education trustee will be expected to spend at least half day at school to complete lesson observations of direct report.

We are looking to make prompt appointment to better support our school.

Alex TLC is a trusted and experienced organisation offering support and information for all those affected by a genetic leukodystrophy. Formerly ALD Life, an internationally recognised centre of excellence for people affected by adrenoleukodystrophy and adrenomyeloneuropathy, the charity was established in 2004.

Due to popular demand, we extended our services to support all leukodystrophies in 2019 and became Alex, The Leukodystrophy Charity.

Like many other small charities, we have grown organically from an informal support group to the recognised voice for adrenoleukodystrophy patients and their families. Our charitable work is supported by our chain of five charity shops across south east London.

With scant resources we are always in need of trustworthy and reliable volunteers to assist retail staff.
