Who we are

Via is an exceptional charity that puts people at the heart of everything we do. Over three decades, we’ve evolved from our origins as Westminster Drug Project, with a new now award-winning name and brand, into a dynamic, multi-service organisation delivering vital support across substance use, mental health, employment, sexual health, smoking cessation and youth services. With a turnover of £36m for 24/25 and remarkable growth of over a third in 2023/24, we’re now supporting over 12,500 service users annually across an expanding geographical footprint from London to Gloucestershire.

The opportunity

As we have experienced growth and welcomed a new Chair to the Board, we are looking to appoint new Trustees. We are looking for three dedicated trustees to join our Board, each bringing distinct expertise to support our next strategic phase. We are particularly looking for trustees with:

• clinical experience in substance misuse or mental health services, who can provide valuable insights into clinical risk and governance, and service delivery.
• HR expertise, specifically in organisational development, who can guide our people strategy and support our workforce development initiatives.
• legal expertise, ideally someone with in-house legal experience who understands corporate operational challenges and can provide challenge and support.

These roles offer the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while contributing your professional expertise to advance our strategic objectives and ensure we deliver the highest quality services to those we support.

This is an exciting time to join with a new Chair, and next summer we will begin to plan our next strategy.

Diversity in governance isn’t just a goal for Via – it’s a necessity. Our services support people from every part of society, and we want our Board to reflect this diversity. We actively encourage applications from people with lived experience of addiction/recovery (whether personal or as family members/carers), and people from communities currently underrepresented at board level.

• Time Commitment: The equivalent of a day a month

The Board meets quarterly, usually in person. Including preparation time, representation at events, and strategic input, we estimate a commitment of the equivalent of a day per month. This includes:

• Four Board meetings per year
• Quarterly committee meetings
• Annual strategy away day
• Preparation for meetings
• Ad hoc conversations with fellow board members and the Executive
• Occasional representation at events and meetings with key stakeholders, including at services.

We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient. Community Volunteers can choose from a wide selection of activities – including fundraising, talks and demonstrations, supporting at events, volunteer welfare, social media and administration support.

Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives.

Give as much (or little) time as you can afford. With this new role, you simply volunteer when it works for you. That means you can give as much time as you like or as little as 24 hours across a whole year, whenever it suits you. The successful candidates would be provided with all the necessary training to support fundraising and community engagement activities.

Interviews will be conducted at our Network's headquarters in Rugby, which is easily accessible by car and public transport.

Successful candidates would be welcomed to the local branch in your area (Rugby, Nuneaton, Bedworth) by our friendly volunteers and fully supported in your new role!

We’re looking for a creative, organised Communications Volunteer to power Europia’s digital presence. You’ll help plan, create, and schedule content, keep our tone of voice consistent, and grow engagement across our community - all while building a stand-out portfolio of real campaigns.

Key Responsibilities

• Design Creation: Produce high-quality graphics for print and digital: posters, flyers, social posts, event materials.

• Brand Consistency:  Ensure designs follow Europia’s brand guidelines (colours, fonts, style, accessibility).

• Social Media Assets: Create engaging visuals tailored for Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), and LinkedIn.

• Event Support: Design promotional materials and on-site signage for events, exhibitions, and campaigns.

• Collaboration: Work with staff and volunteers to understand needs and translate them into clear visual concepts.

• Adaptation of Content: Edit and adapt existing designs for different formats/sizes (e.g., square, stories, A4/A5).

• Creativity & Ideas: Contribute fresh ideas to enhance Europia’s visual presence and campaign impact.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graphic design in Canva (required).

• Understanding of brand guidelines and accessible design.

• Confident writing for web/social; clear, inclusive language.

• Helpful: Meta Business Suite/Buffer, Mailchimp; basic CMS (e.g., WordPress).

• Basic photo/video editing (desirable but not required).

• Organised, reliable, collaborative; respectful of confidentiality.

There will be interviews held at the local unit then successful applicants will have training also done at the local unit.

There will be an interview with the team who will explain what is required if successful the will be a DBS check done and once cleared the training will begin. 

All interviews will be held at the unit and then successful applicants will attend a welcome evening held on a Thursday at 19.00
