As a Trustee, you will contribute to the governance, oversight, and strategic direction of the Edward James Foundation. You will work closely with the Board and Executive Team to ensure West Dean is governed responsibly, managed effectively, and delivering on its charitable purpose.

Who we are looking for

We are particularly keen to appoint Trustees with senior commercial or retail leadership experience, ideally from a large, complex organisation. This may include:

• National retail groups or membership organisations
• Visitor attractions or heritage organisations
• Consumer-facing brands with a values-led ethos
• Further Education and Higher Education

You may have held executive roles such as Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer, or Commercial Director – or you may now be operating in a non-executive or portfolio capacity.

Crucially, you will bring:

Strong financial and operational judgement

• Experience of transformation or turnaround
• A focus on commercial performance and organisational impact
• Experience as a charity trustee or non-executive is strongly preferred. A connection to the arts, design, heritage, or education will be welcomed –  but is not essential.

Go Beyond is a national children’s charity with a powerful, simple mission: to give children a break from difficult lives.

Each year, we provide life-changing residential breaks in the countryside for over 1,000 children aged 8–13 who wouldn’t otherwise get a chance to enjoy time away, make friends, and just be children. Jumble Sales Organiser Volunteer

Would you like to raise funds, have fun and join a super team of volunteers who together make our Jumble Sales in Thatcham a great success?  As Jumble Sales Organiser you would be helping to make everything run smoothly for the team.

Time Expectations:  1 Saturday every other month (plus preparations)

This could be a shared role and tasks may include:

· Booking the hall for future Jumbles

· Contacting the Jumble team before events to check availability

· Set up stalls, running a stall and packing away at the end

· Collecting any items/resources needed from the centre the day before

Without volunteers, Cats Protection Berkshire Cat Centre simply wouldn't exist. Our amazing, friendly volunteers are a diverse group with a shared love of cats who fit volunteering around their home lives and personal commitments.

We're often looking to welcome new volunteers to join our brilliant team. As well as meeting great people and making an incredible difference to the cats of Berkshire.

Please note:  Although we do welcome everyone, unfortunately our centre is not set up to accommodate young volunteers under the age of 18, including those on the Duke of Edinburgh programme.

Time expectation

This role is really flexible! You could choose to volunteer at one event for a couple of hours or attend multiple fundraising events.

We’ll keep you up to date with upcoming local events where volunteers are needed. You’ll then be able to choose which events you’d like to volunteer at and how many hours you’d like to give. However much time you can give, your contribution will help raise much needed funds to continue the work of Cats Protection.

Since its inception in 2020, SBP has grown rapidly, establishing an exciting and evolving portfolio of nature recovery projects across Scotland. Following the recent appointment of our first Chief Executive Officer, we are now seeking to recruit a new Chair of Trustees who can provide leadership and stability through a period of further change, and work very closely with the CEO and the rest of the Board.

The Chair will hold the Board and Executive Team to account for the charity’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership and ensuring collective ownership and effective governance. The Chair will support the CEO and the rest of the Management Team as appropriate, to achieve agreed objectives. They will also develop the knowledge and capability of the Board, and will appraise the CEO’s performance on an annual basis. In partnership with the CEO and others, they will act as an ambassador for rewilding and a key public face and spokesperson for SBP.

We are looking for candidates with demonstrable experience and understanding of the following:

● Operating at a senior level within an organisation, ideally working with or as part of a Board of Trustees/Directors

● Strong understanding of charity governance, and overall legal compliance

● Accomplished strategic thinking and direction, and strong leadership skills, including the ability to bring people together to ensure the charity has maximum impact

● Sound financial management expertise and a broad understanding of charity finances to ensure organisational health and sustainability

● Strong understanding of risk management and mitigations, and mediation and conflict resolution

● Exceptional public speaking skills for event moderation

● Positive engagement with internal and external stakeholders

● Profiling and networking for advocacy and fundraising Previous experience in the rewilding and broader environmental sector is not essential.

We are keen on transferrable, innovative, and creative approaches that will help our charity and people to thrive, and to lead on rewilding in Scotland.

● Commitment to nature restoration in Scotland, and willingness to learn more about rewilding and emerging and evolving trends in the sector

About Reef-World

Hi! We’re The Reef-World Foundation: a registered UK charity which delivers practical solutions for marine conservation around the world. In partnership with the UN Environment, we are the international coordinator of the Green Fins initiative, which aims to protect and conserve coral reefs through environmentally friendly guidelines that promote a sustainable diving and snorkelling tourism industry.

Our work involves supporting, inspiring and empowering governments, businesses, communities and individuals around the world to act in conserving and sustainably developing coral reefs and other coastal resources. 

Our vision is to make sustainable diving and snorkelling the social norm by driving environmentally friendly practices across the marine tourism industry. We started working with local fishing communities in Thailand in 1999. Today, we operate across 14 countries, supporting governments, businesses and communities to sustainably develop their coastal resources. Someone who is passionate about conserving coral reefs and the marine life and local communities they support. About the role

• The Board provides oversight, shaping organisational strategy and supporting our staff and volunteers, and the Chair will lead the Board in that role. 

• Providing leadership to the Trustee Board by supporting the team to remain focused on delivering our aims.

• Lead, alongside the Vice Chair and rest of the Board, on planning the annual cycle of Board meetings, setting agendas and chairing Board meetings

• The time commitment is approximately 4-6 hours a month/ Board meetings are every 12 weeks (online with usually one a year in person). Opportunities to meet in person throughout the year.

At Better Place Bradford, our mission is to identify and oversee improvements to local parks and outdoor spaces with the aim of providing a healthier and happier environment for babies, young children and families. We work across larger parks, pocket parks, community centres, streets and green spaces across BD3, BD4 and BD5.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and highly motivated individual, who is looking to gain some practical landscape maintenance experience.

As a Volunteer Urban Ranger, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining the upkeep of our sites, regularly checking that each site is safe, inviting, and free from rubbish — noting any issues that arise.

Duties include: Litter clearance, sweeping sand back into the sand pits, weeding, planting, watering plants, affixing signs, checking in on the Little Free Library boxes, strimming, raking leaves, supporting at event days, promoting responsible use and enjoyment of our sites.

This role is for you if you;

• Enjoy being outdoors (in all weather)
• Are not afraid of physical work
• Want to make a difference in your local area
• Are comfortable getting to sites across BD3/BD4/BD5
• Enjoy interacting with members of the public
• Want to gain practical landscape maintenance experience
• Are looking for an intro into the environmental / conservation / ranger sectors

Every penny counts when it comes to improving the lives of the thousands of cats and kittens across the UK that need our help each year. Our Collection Box Volunteers help us raise vital funds by collecting and distributing collection boxes in their local area. Making a difference can mean as little as raising 20p, which is enough to feed one cat in our care for a day, to £150 which is the average cost of a cat in our care.

What can I expect to be doing?

• Researching local shops, pubs and businesses to place Collection Boxes
• Delivering Collection Boxes to locations
• Recording donations and thanking local businesses and supporters

Description of the project

Milpa Community aims to be an open place to exchange ideas, to learn, inspire, and to build the community leadership we need for tomorrow’s world. Its mission is to empower young people from the surrounding area with the skills to be able to have a job, gain confidence and grow surrounded by a communitarian way of living.

We believe that by creating more community experiences, we empower people, youth especially, so they can build their own future and have a better life. In that way, we work toward local development and try to reach sustainability in its three dimensions: environmental, social and economic.

Highlights:

• Empower yourself and others working inside a community-based NGO in Buenos Aires.
• Learn and practice about agroecology. Enjoy working on gardening, landscaping, community development, international development & NGO management

What can you learn as a volunteer?

Volunteers will be able to learn about many topics and maximize what they learn before by helping us to maintain the garden and grounds. Volunteers with previous specific knowledge can prepare workshops or develop specific tasks. Volunteers will enhance their knowledge in practice, helping in the tasks of daily maintenance of the garden, in the organization of community space with the armed schedule, lists of participants’ management and administration tasks of space.

Why is this program important for the community?

The members of the community we work with are families that work hard every day to better their financial situation. 

Many of the young people from the surrounding neighborhoods have not been able to finish their basic studies and therefore can only dream of going to university. The Pacheco Community Center gives them the opportunity to learn a practical trade, work in a team and be prepare for labor market integration.

We focus on training. We help young people build new capacities. Not only can they learn about gardening, landscaping and begin an immersion in agroecology philosophy, but also the Pacheco Community Center has a greenhouse for the students to plant fruits and vegetables, which they will be able to sell and generate their own income.

Role of the Volunteer

The volunteers that come from different parts of the world to exchange knowledge and experience and to work alongside the community members create a mutual spirit of solidarity.

• Learn by helping in practical classes with youth to maintain the garden and grounds.
• Help watering during 20 minutes in the mornings outside the greenhouse if the weather is too dry.
• Help teachers to prepare didactic material for theoretical classes (like diagrams, pictures, boards)
• Help social coordinators to manage the organization of community space with the armed schedule, lists of participants’ management and administration tasks of space.
• Help preparing and attending breakfast or afternoon snack (according daily schedule) for youth.
• Help preparing special monthly workshops: Open day to the community when families and friends share and afternoon with talks, games and relaxing time.

Join us at our vibrant, award-winning community allotment on Drumlanrig Avenue, Easterhouse — a cherished green space where local nurseries, schools, adult clubs, and families come together to sow, grow, and thrive.

Whether you're a seasoned gardener or just curious to give it a go, we welcome volunteers of all experience levels. All you need is a positive attitude and a willingness to muck in — we’ll support you every step of the way and tailor tasks to your interests and skills.

Time Commitment:

We’re ideally looking for a weekly commitment of 2+ hours, but we’re flexible — any time you can give is appreciated!

Our volunteer coordinator will be in touch via email to discuss the opportunity further. 

By getting involved you could:

• Join an enthusiastic team and make new friends 
• Develop your hospitality skills and put them into practice
• Support the lunch rush be delivering food to people’s tables 
• Support on the counter to help serve soup or cakes
• Sign up to holiday, evening or 1 off events such as Theatre, Proms or other performances that may have an ice cream trike or BBQ on offer
• Be trained on the Food and Beverage Buggy to help deliver stock including freshly baked good to other outlets (being trained on the F&B buggy is an optional choice in addition to usual duties)
• Use your smile and customer service skills, so people feel at home
• Help us raise money so we continue our work looking after special places

What's involved?

• Undertake tasks ranging from clearing tables and serving food to washing dishes and supporting behind the counter. 
• Use your smile and customer service skills to engage with visitors, share knowledge of the property and generally enhance their visit
• Have a strong working knowledge of our menu, including allergen information, and sharing this with visitors, though any allergy questions should be asked to a team leader, with the support of our allergen book.
• Playing your part to continue our work looking after special places 
• Joining an enthusiastic team and making new friends
• Learning and developing a range of skills such as food safety, barista and exceptional service.
• There’s also potential to get involved with the Food & Beverage events calendar.
• You can also opt in to Food and Beverage Buggy training to help deliver freshly baked goods to other outlets on site.

This role will suit you if you are:

• Are cheerful and like being around people – you’ll meet a lot at lunchtime! 
• Are looking for a varied role – you’ll be juggling tasks as well as trays of food
• Are keen to be part of a team
• Are good at keeping places looking tidy and welcoming
• Have a keen eye to detail to notice when a visitor needs help
• Love chatting about food, new recipes and where our ingredients come from
