Expenses

Sepsis is a life-threatening condition that affects 245,000 people in the UK every year. At least 48,000 of those people lose their lives to the condition. We believe that earlier diagnosis and treatment across the UK would save thousands more lives a year.
The UK Sepsis Trust (UKST) was founded in 2012. Founder and Executive Director, Dr Ron Daniels BEM, is an NHS Consultant in Intensive Care:
“We seek to save lives from sepsis, and improve outcomes for survivors, by educating healthcare professionals, raising public awareness, providing support for those affected by this devastating condition and political lobbying. The UK Sepsis Trust has ambitious plans to increase awareness, educate wider networks beyond direct care health professionals and provide support to an ever-increasing population of survivors and bereaved. We are seeking to diversify the existing Trustee Board by gaining access to broader and deeper skills, backgrounds, and experiences. Our Trustees work in partnership with our Chairman and Chief Executives to ensure our resources are applied to maximum effect to achieve our purpose – through a clear vision and strategy, whilst exercising stewardship to operate an appropriate framework of governance.

Time Commitment
The time commitment of the Trustees is variable but as a minimum they are required to attend the following:
- The Trustees have four formal meetings each year with the management team (2 of which are in person in either Birmingham/London).
- In addition there are four informal meetings with the management team along with regular Trustee only meetings which are all held virtually
- The Finance and Governance Trustee would also be required to attend four finance and audit committee meetings per year.

Child . org is a data-driven charity working to champion perinatal health in Kenya, where neonatal mortality rates have barely changed in the last 5 years. We work with parents, communities and government in Kenya to provide life-saving antenatal and postnatal health information, connect at-risk mums and babies with the healthcare services they need and work with local health authorities to advocate for and improve the quality of perinatal care.
We’re a small but ambitious organisation. We have a small team who make a big impact. We pride ourselves on our core values and the culture we have built. Our team is split between Bristol in the UK and Nairobi and Meru in Kenya. Our board of Trustees are mostly based in the South West but also in London and the US.
We are currently launching our new strategy and as part of that, we want to broaden the skills and experience of our board. We are looking for people who are passionate about the work we do, who are able to provide support, share ideas and inspire our team and our work. We are looking for a team player, who is able to support our board to grow the charity over the next few years. Our aim is to break down barriers which prevent people accessing the arts – as well as enriching our community with our workshops, community events and gallery space. What we’re looking for
We’re looking for people to join our Board with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Finance – you might be a qualified accountant and have a background in finance and audit so that you can provide vital skills to help the Board oversee our financial management. An understanding of charity accounts and regulations would absolutely be an advantage.

Marketing & Communications – we want to reach new audiences to ensure a diverse and inclusive approach, and we are aiming to do that at scale. You may have experience of providing strategic support for increasing our reach and visibility.

Marine Conservation - you might have environmental knowledge, ideally on the marine environment, with policy and/or practical experience of conservation. A network of contacts across the marine sector, particularly with business or government, would be an advantage.
What you can bring to our Board can be just as interesting as where you’ve been working. You do not need to have previous charity trustee experience, but you will need to be comfortable participating at a senior level with complex discussions and the need to be comfortable making pragmatic but key decisions.

About You
We particularly welcome new trustees who could bring skills and experience in financial management or legal and IP transfer. Though please do not be put off from applying if you do not have any of these skills or if you have never been a Trustee before.

Requirements
- A commitment to the aims and values of the organisation, and an understanding of some of the issues our service users face.
- An ability to understand and discuss information on the work of the organisation.
- An ability and willingness to discuss ideas and options to help make decisions in the best interests of the organisation and experience of attending and contributing to meetings is helpful but not essential, enthusiasm and commitment to our work and values are more important
- Trustees must be aged 18+
Our Trustees hold four formal in person meetings each year with additional meetings as and when needed. Finance, business development and service delivery reports are circulated before meetings so any queries can be answered prior to the meeting where they are discussed.

The opportunity to be a Trustee is open to both those who wish to take their first step into a non-operational strategic management and those with experience of governance. As well as developing the Charity it will provide personal development opportunities and enhance any CV.
Stepping Stones (Luton) is a charity based in Luton which meet the needs of vulnerable women and their children. Our practitioners deliver community-based, frontline support to women suffering from drug addiction and substance abuse, who may have offended or re-offended or be victims of domestic abuse including those in contact with the criminal justice system. Services include women’s group programmes, 1:1 support and counselling and the provision of an Ofsted approved childcare facility.
Our current trustees bring a range of skills and experience to the Board and share their expertise to oversee the development and implementation of our strategic and business plans and the charity’s finances. We are looking for trustees for the board of Stepping Stones (Luton) board and would welcome either someone who has experience of being a trustee or someone who wants to take their first Trustee role. We are particularly interested in people with a background in finance, fundraising or social media. We are keen to improve the balance of diversity and perspective on our board which would reflect both our diverse work force and service users. The board meets 6 times per year with meetings in hybrid form – online and in person from our Luton office. Any ad hoc issues which may arise are dealt with by email correspondence or online meetings
