CleanupUK is a small charity with big aspirations. We use the activity of litter-picking to support people living in disadvantaged areas to form litter-picking groups – not only to keep their neighbourhood clean but also to bring the community together.

Now in its 18th year, CleanupUK is embarking on a growth phase. As a result, we would like to attract people to CleanupUK’s board as trustees who have varied and diverse backgrounds and experience. You will likely feel passionate about the issue of litter and also about its impact on communities.

We are currently looking to recruit three new trustees who are prepared to devote their time and energy to helping CleanupUK grow into the next stage. The three skill sets we are looking for are :

· Financial (Deputy Treasurer)

· Fundraising

· Communications/marketing/social media

We’re on the lookout for a volunteer who’s keen to make a real difference in our communities — and pick up some new skills along the way!

This is a unique opportunity to gain a recognised qualification while helping residents at Asquith Court and Charlotte Court enjoy regular chair-based exercise sessions. These schemes don’t currently have any sessions, but they’re really keen to get started — ideally once a month to begin with (and maybe more if it’s a hit!).

We’ll support you every step of the way, including covering the cost of your Amac Certificate in Chair-based Exercise Instructing - which you can complete online at your own pace. Once you’re qualified, we’ll work with you to build a schedule that fits around your availability.

Each session will last up to an hour, and we’ll also cover your travel expenses between the two schemes.

Because you’ll be working with potentially vulnerable residents, you’ll need to be 18 or over to take on this role.

Our customers at Tentercroft Court would like to learn how to crochet and are looking for someone to teach them the basics.

You'll be helping them to learn how to crochet and maybe assist them to make a blanket or two! They're complete beginners, so even just learning some terminology and simple stitches would be super.

The residents are really flexible as to when they'd like to run the club, so this could be on a day and at a time to suit you. We see this being up to 2 hours a week maximum.

You must be over the age of 18 if you're doing this role on your own. However, we're happy to consider someone over 14 if they volunteer with a parent or guardian, who's over the age of 18.

Our Trustees play a vital role in helping us remain a strong, effective, and forward-thinking organisation, ensuring we can deliver high-quality, accessible advice to those who need it most.

Often told you make a lovely cup of tea?  We need your help!

We're looking for a friendly volunteer (or two!) to join us once a month at our Deansfield Court Saturday Social events to help make refreshments for all our lovely attendees.

We need helpers between 1.30pm - 3pm, but you'd be welcome to stay and enjoy the entertainment.

We'd like someone who's passionate, friendly and willing to help with serving refreshments. You just need to be able to talk to others and be a friendly face for those attending.

What will you be up to?

• You'll help set up by getting the cups ready and popping the kettle on.
• Making the all-important brews and beverages.
• And at the end of the event you'll make sure everything's washed, clean and tidy.

Due to the nature of the role supporting potentially vulnerable members of the community, you must be over the age of 18 if you are doing this on your own. We're happy to consider someone over 14 if they volunteer with a parent or guardian, who is over the age of 18.

Are you a proactive, efficient and compassionate individual who is looking to make a difference?  If so, St Giles Trust is looking for a Pantry Volunteer to work at its London Pantries, where you will support the day-to-day operation of a community pantry at one of our London locations. You will work alongside the Pantry Coordinator and other volunteers to help create a welcoming, dignified, and well-managed space for local members. Tasks will include stock handling, customer service, and light-touch support such as signposting and meal planning tips.

About this key role
As our Pantry Volunteer, you will help with specific Pantry needs such as stock rotation, manual handling, speaking to clients, and making them feel comfortable within The Pantry.  You will carry out and comply with all health and safety procedures and policies, ensure all labelling of food items are correctly displayed and ensure any items are within the correct date for displaying. 
Positively supporting members and always maintaining confidentiality, and creating a welcoming, dignified, and well-mannered space for local members. Tasks will include stock handling, customer service, and light-touch support such as signposting and meal planning tips.

What we are looking for

• Previous experience of working within a retail and customer-facing role.
• Supporting the daily running and operation of the Pantry.
• Supporting the Pantry coordinator ensuring the shop is well-stocked, clean and presentable.
• To carry out and comply with all health and safety procedures and policies, including food safety and manual handling.
• To ensure all food items are correctly labelled and within the given use-by date.
• Positively supporting members and always maintaining confidentiality.
• To assist customers to choose their shopping items and to complete simple forms.
• On occasion, offering meal planning advice along with recipes and food shopping tips.
• Helping to unload deliveries and ensuring food is correctly stored.

Please note: this role requires that successful candidates must undergo an Enhanced DBS check, on the basis that the post involves contact with vulnerable participants and colleagues.

South Mitcham Community Association (SMCA) is looking for new Trustees.

We are a small charity, running a much-valued community centre in the heart of Mitcham.

We are looking for people to join our Board of Trustees, helping us to meet our ambitions in creating a Community Hub.

This is a voluntary (unpaid) role.

Our trustees play a vital role in making sure that Julian Support achieves its core purpose. They ensure that Julian Support has a clear strategy and that our work and goals are in line with our vision. They scrutinise financial management and ensure the process of sound governance including the identification and mitigation of risks. Just as importantly, they support and challenge the Chief Executive and the senior leadership team to enable Julian Support to grow and thrive, in line with its objectives and values.

Board members have a collective responsibility. This means that trustees always act as a group and not as individuals.

Duties:

· Support and provide advice on Julian Support’s purpose, vision, goals and activities.

· Approve operational strategies and policies and monitor and evaluate their implementation.

· Oversee Julian Support’s financial plans and budgets and monitor and evaluate progress.

· Ensure the effective and efficient administration of the organisation.

· Ensure that key risks are being identified, monitored and controlled effectively.

· Review and approve Julian Support’s financial statements.

· Provide support and challenge to Julian Support’s CEO in the exercise of their delegated authority and affairs.

· Keep abreast of changes in Julian Support’s operating environment.

· Contribute to regular reviews of Julian Support’s own governance. Attend Board meetings, adequately prepared to contribute to discussions.

· Use independent judgment, acting legally and in good faith to promote and protect Julian Support’s interests, to the exclusion of their own personal and/or any third party interests.

· Contribute to the broader promotion of Julian Support’s objects, aims and reputation by applying your skills, expertise, knowledge and contacts.

Finance Trustee - What we are looking for

As with all our Trustee roles we are looking for people willing to bring energy, enthusiasm and commitment to the role, and someone who will broaden the diversity of thinking on our board. For the Finance Trustee role you will:

· ideally be a qualified accountant

· have experience in financial management including budgets and forecasts, cash flow, investments and liquidity and financial systems

· an understanding of the audit process

You do not need previous governance experience – we will provide a full induction and training.

Personal skills and qualities

· An understanding of the difficulties faced by people experiencing significant challenges with their mental health.

· Willingness and ability to understand and accept their responsibilities and liabilities as trustees and to act in the best interests of the organisation.

· Ability to think creatively and strategically, exercise good, independent judgement and work effectively as a board member.

· Effective communication skills and willingness to participate actively in discussion.

· A willingness to speak their mind and engage in discussions in an open, frank, and assertive (not aggressive) way.

· A strong personal commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

· Enthusiasm for our vision and mission.

· Willingness to lead according to our values of Hope Equity Accountable Real Trust

· Commitment to Nolan’s seven principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership.

Terms of appointment

Terms of office

· There is currently no fixed term of office.

· This is a voluntary position, but reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Time commitment

· Attending 4 Board meetings annually including the AGM. Currently meetings are held in person at Julian Support’s Head Office, 23 Pilling Park Road, Norwich, NR1 4PA

· Attending 2 Board Strategy days and training days as required

Committee membership

Ad hoc and occasional support through working groups and / or support to the executive team.

Please note, all Trustees are required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and hold an up-to-date certificate. The DBS check will be arranged by Julian Support.
