The Coroners' Courts Support Service (CCSS) is a registered Charity whose trained volunteers give emotional and practical support to bereaved families and other witnesses attending an inquest.
We need volunteers to provide emotional support and practical help to bereaved families, witnesses and others attending Inquests at Coroners' Court. Our volunteers at court also provide help and assistance to the Coroners' Officers, as and when required.
We are looking for reliable, supportive people with excellent communication skills. A mature and calm attitude is needed in order to be able to talk to people during a sometimes bewildering and emotional experience. Volunteers must be willing to undergo a period of observations and shadowing, as well as attend a 3 day training course. A minimum commitment of one day (9:00am - 5:00pm) per fortnight is asked for. Training and mentoring is provided and travel expenses to the court are reimbursed.
New volunteers should possess good communication and listening skills and the ability to empathise with people they support.

Our Independent Visitor Volunteers provide consistent and supportive relationships to children ad young people in care, offering emotional support, companionship, and guidance through shared activities and time together. The Independent Visitor plays a vital role in helping the young people build confidence and feel secure while enhancing their personal, social, and cultural development.
As an Independent Visitor Volunteer in England, you might:
- support the child/young person to experience enriching activities that contribute to their personal and cultural development

Background to the role:
Keep Active is a volunteer-delivered project at The Creighton Centre, which aims to provide support to older people (60+) who have had a fall, stroke or other illness. We work in partnership with the NHS Community Rehabilitation Service across Hammersmith & Fulham. As a Keep Active Volunteer you would visit an older person (the average age is 84) once a week for up to nine weeks to help them with improving mobility indoors with exercises, or outdoors with walks in their community. This project aims to empower people to get back to independence, access community once more and reduce risks of future falls and hospital re-admittance.
Availability/commitment:
· To live in or near Hammersmith and Fulham, or travel regularly through
· To be able to spare 1-2 hours a week, preferably during working hours
Role of the Keep Active Volunteer:
· To attend an initial one-off training session [with Volunteer Coordinator and therapists from NHS rehabilitation teams].
· To visit an older person’s home once a week for up to 9 weeks to supervise and motivate them to continue practicing their exercise and walking goals, as prescribed by NHS rehabilitation teams.
· Support might include:
- A walk around their local community possibly going to the park or visiting shops.
- Encouraging them to complete a prescribed gentle exercise program.
- Keeping an older and sometimes isolated person company.
- Visiting someone in their homes to help them reach their exercise goals.
NB: Please note that this is a volunteer role and you will not be expected to provide any physical support. This is a motivational role only.
We will provide:
· Induction training and NHS Community Rehabilitation led training (weekday training).
· Regular contact and support from the project staff.

About the role
WiSER Project is a partnership of specialist charities working to end male violence and abuse & it provides support to women experiencing Violence against Women and Girls (for example domestic abuse, sexual violence, sexual exploitation through prostitution, trafficking, and other forms of abuse) and multiple disadvantage (for example mental or physical health issues, substance misuse, insecure immigration status, offending history and other).
As a Peer Mentor you will have the unique opportunity to provide WiSER service users guidance, model safe and fulfilling life after abuse and offer a listening ear through one to one support sessions.

Detailed description
Mentoring within One YMCA is delivered through the youth team and volunteers. Young people aged 13-19 years can access the service which provides support and encouragement for young people to work towards their goals.
Mentors and mentees are paired based on experience, expertise and support needed.
This project will last for up to a year with each young person, with an average of 3-4 hours per month being given to the young person and their support.
Training for this role is due to commence on 22nd January 2025 (Time and Location TBC)
Pay: This is a voluntary role; however, expenses will be covered.
Key Responsibilities:
·To attend full induction training and complete all relevant child protection checks
·To arrange to meet with your mentee for 1-3 hours a month over a period of 12 months, in a public place.
·To prepare for your mentoring sessions with the purpose of progressing with their mutually agreed goals.
·To offer tailored support to your Mentee in areas such as confidence and resilience building, accessing services, careers focus and development. You may be working on a number of areas as the needs of your Mentee present themselves.
·To safeguard and promote the wellbeing of your Mentee.

SUMMARY
Prison volunteers are the backbone of Fine Cell Work. Supported by the Fine Cell Work programmes team and by other staff at the FCW office, they teach and administer FCW stitching groups in prisons.
Our prison volunteers work in teams to organise classes and teach our stitchers, as well as to provide information to the prison and to the FCW office. The precise mix of skills and tasks will vary slightly from prison to prison.
Volunteering in prison for Fine Cell Work ideally requires not only a good level of needlework skill but also some teaching experience and/or experience of working with socially-excluded groups. Volunteers must be patient and non-judgemental in order to work effectively.
This document describes the role of prison volunteering teams as a whole. Individuals who do not have all the skills described below may find a role alongside other volunteers who do.
PURPOSE
- Developing stitchers’ skills and confidence
- Acting as FCW ambassadors in the prison
- Building effective working relationships with prison staff, stitchers, and other volunteers
- Providing information to the FCW office for administrative and evaluative purposes
ACTIVITIES
Teaching and support
- Teaching prisoners to stitch FCW products using our premade kits
- Encouraging and supporting stitchers to take on responsibility as class coordinators and peer mentors
- Encouraging and helping prisoners who wish to undertake our accredited training courses with the Open College Network
Admin and liaison
- Ensuring a supply of kits and training materials appropriate to stitchers’ individual skill levels and learning needs
- Returning completed kits to the FCW office with invoices
- Regularly communicating with the Fine Cell Work programmes team
Monitoring and information-gathering
- Ensuring accurate record keeping of stitchers' pay, productivity and progress
- Occasionally gathering other information requested by the office
Meetings/training
- Participating in occasional volunteer meetings
- Participating in training and workshops as requested by FCW or the prison

COMMITMENT REQUIRED
Prison volunteers generally run classes for two hours every 2 weeks.
With travel time and some admin work after groups we ask prison volunteers to set
aside a morning or afternoon every 2 weeks.
We hope that most prison-based volunteers will be able to commit themselves to working with us for at least a year or two as this allows time for group participants to complete qualifications and develop their skills to a high standard.
LOCATION
Volunteers work in prisons around the UK dependant on where groups are based.
SUPERVISION AND COMMUNICATION
Each group has a lead volunteer who reports to the Volunteer & Programmes Manager at the Fine Cell Work office however we do encourage regular communication between the programmes team and all volunteers.
We also have regular reflective practice sessions for prison volunteers which take place on Zoom every other month.
BENEFITS
Fine Cell Work will cover your travel costs and out-of-pocket expenses related to posting kits to the office. We can also pay out-of-pocket expenses for purchasing materials and other items, but you must agree this in advance with the Production team at Head Office.
We provide induction training before you start volunteering in prison, and training thereafter at intervals throughout the year.

We are appealing for a Volunteer to help at our Bedminster Stroke Support Group weekly.
Every year 950 people in Bristol and South Glos will experience a stroke: people of all ages…and from all backgrounds. Bristol After Stroke is the local charity that helps those people get their lives back on track – though our groups, activities, mentoring, counselling and much more.
Our volunteers do a variety of things each week from helping with the room set up, serving hot drinks and supporting the activities that are planned eg music, poetry or seated exercise sessions like Yoga or Zumba. The most important part of the role of the volunteer though is to talk to group members, encourage them to get involved and generally help to promote a supportive, happy atmosphere that contributes to a sense of wellbeing.

About the role
The Island Lead Volunteer is a key volunteer role within local Scouting with responsibility for providing outstanding leadership and support for the Groups on the Island. The primary focus for the Island Lead Volunteer is to ensure that Scouting is able to reach every young person on Jersey; open to all regardless of faith, colour or social background, because we believe Scouting has the ability to change lives. This is achieved by leading the team of Group Lead Volunteers, and other Island volunteers as well as working with the Growth & Communities Teams (employed staff) to provide enough places to meet the demand for Scouting, and by ensuring that every youth member has access to a high-quality balanced programme that is challenging, relevant and rewarding.

Ensure the timely recruitment and appointment of new Group Lead Volunteers where required and ensuring that interim arrangements are put in place for any vacant posts. - Together with the Group Lead Volunteers, agree the priorities for the Island and produce a plan to deliver these to meet The Scout Association’s vision and strategic objectives.
- Ensure that problems within the Island are resolved so that an effective volunteering culture is encouraged and Group Lead Volunteers feel supported to deal with challenging issues, including complaints in a timely manner.
- Ensure that the Island has an adequate team of supported and appropriate adults working effectively together and with others to meet the Scouting needs of the area.
- Ensure that problems within the Island are resolved so that excellent Scouting is provided to young people on the Island.
- Act as an ex-officio trustee as a member of the Island Trustee Board, and an ex-officio member of the Council of The Scout Association.
- Play an active part within the Regional Team by joining short MS Teams calls and in person meetings led by the Regional Lead Volunteer and twice yearly by Team England for all County Lead Volunteers to contribute to the development of Scouting within England as part of the Headquarters team.

Role Description:
The Safe Space is a local hub for anyone who feels they are nearing crisis point. We are here to listen to what you need and work with you to help. These might be strategies to help you cope in the moment, a range of activities that we provide free of charge, resources to take away or connect you with practical local services. As a part of this, we are looking for volunteers to offer support to individuals who may access our crisis drop-in services. This includes a variety of tasks, which include greeting individuals, offering a cup of tea and biscuits, general reception duties, supporting 1:1 session, completing administrative tasks and generally keeping clients engaged and safe on our premises.
We are looking for someone who
- Has lived experience of mental health/social crisis
- Preferably have had experience working with people who experience poor mental health
- Are comfortable with co-producing and facilitating peer led workshops where applicable if required.
- Are willing to actively participate with clients 1:1 and in group settings
- Are able to take on any ad hoc admin/support responsibilities within the Safe Space Team
Time commitment and expenses:
- Minimum 6 months commitment, offer I day per week during our opening hours of 2pm–10pm. Please indicate your preferred volunteering day(s) plus preferred site (H&F, Ealing or Hounslow) on your application.
- We will provide volunteers with an induction, training, and ongoing mentoring to support them in the role
- Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed where required.

We are appealing for a Volunteer to help at our Avonmouth Stroke Support Group weekly.
Every year 950 people in Bristol and South Glos will experience a stroke: people of all ages…and from all backgrounds. Bristol After Stroke is the local charity that helps those people get their lives back on track – though our groups, activities, mentoring, counselling and much more.
We recently moved our Portway Stroke Support Group to a new location at the Avonmouth Community Centre and are appealing for Volunteers.
Our volunteers do a variety of things each week from helping with the room set up, serving hot drinks and supporting the activities that are planned eg music, poetry or seated exercise sessions like Yoga or Zumba. The most important part of the role of the volunteer though is to talk to group members, encourage them to get involved and generally help to promote a supportive, happy atmosphere that contributes to a sense of wellbeing.
Why we need your help:
- Our S Volunteers provide help and support to our Group Leaders and group members at our weekly stroke support groups.
- Our groups provide an opportunity for anyone who has been affected by stroke to meet others affected by stroke and make new friends, take part in stimulating and enjoyable activities which will support rehabilitation.
Role Summary:
• Provide support for group activities, exercises, and games.
• Support the Group Leader with the planning of Group Activities.
• Provide general support to Group Leader and Group Members when needed.
• Make and serve refreshments.
• Give added enthusiasm and encouragement to our members in taking part in any physical activities or exercises that may be offered during the session.
• Talk to group members, encourage them to get involved and generally help to promote a supportive, happy atmosphere that contributes to a sense of wellbeing.
• Help at the group for its full duration each week including setting up and clearing away of the room.
Skills and Experience:
• Be patient, understanding and have a responsible attitude.
• Know about or be willing to learn about undertaking risk assessments.
• Be comfortable working as part of a team.
• Know about or be willing to learn about stroke and its impact on people.
• Recognise the importance of confidentiality and show this in practice
• Be emotionally resilient
