Position: Project Operations Manager
Salary Range: £31,000 - £34,000 FTE depending on experience

The role:

The primary purpose of the Project Operations Manager role is to provide leadership to ensure that their project work is delivered successfully, to agreed targets, on time and within agreed budgets.

Responsibilities:

• To take charge of and lead their projects, and the staff and volunteers working on them. Ensure project work is delivered successfully, to agreed targets, on time and within agreed budgets. This includes project reporting, overseeing and managing website, media, online and other communications activities related projects, and managing project budgets.
• Contribute to the development and delivery of their Operational Plan.
• With the Trustee Board and grants team, support the revival of appropriate dormant projects and the creation of new projects. Contribute to and endorse grant applications and ensure funder targets and goals are met.
• Establish and maintain collaborative and positive working relationships with their Trustees and key staff.
• With the Support Manager, positively influence the culture within their to ensure it remains an inclusive, diverse and effective working community and continue the charity’s policy of highly supportive and positive management of staff and volunteers, ensuring that their Values are upheld.
• Contribute to ensuring effective welfare and safeguarding policies are in place that are understood and regularly communicated to volunteers and employees.
• Ensure they deliver excellent customer service, so that service users, external organisations and partners receive high-quality service and support; and ensure any complaints or issues are managed promptly and satisfactorily resolved.
• Represent them and their projects internally and externally.

About you:

They are seeking an experienced charity operations and/or projects manager who can bring skills, expertise and knowledge into their rapidly expanding charity.

Essential skills and experience:

• Previous experience of successfully managing UK charity or not-for profit projects and/or services, including financial and budgetary controls.
• A track record of proactive success in achieving project and service goals and outcomes.
• Previous experience of successfully managing staff and, ideally, volunteers.
• A proven ability to effectively plan and manage a mixed portfolio of tasks and activities, including managing your own time effectively.
• A track record of personal learning and development, adapting to changing circumstances, and proactively meeting challenges.
• Strong personal commitment to diversity and inclusion including the social model of disability. Must be able to work effectively with disabled people with all types of impairment.

Desirable skills and experience:

• Understanding impairments including neurodiversity, mental health, sensory loss, long-term conditions and physical disabilities.
• A highly supportive management style which removes barriers for disabled staff and volunteers to allow them to work in ways which are most effective for them.
• Knowledge of project management tools.

About them:

Our client works by permanently removing barriers facing disabled people and finding answers to the big issues facing them, alongside helping individuals. Their projects and partnerships deliver unique and lasting change and effective support that helps nearly all the 41,000 disabled people in Buckinghamshire – plus many beyond their county.

Uniquely, they are mainly voluntary charity. They have over 150 volunteers, mostly disabled people, supported by a small staff team, who themselves run their projects and services. Many of their volunteers are jobseekers or needing help to move forward in their lives and they actively support them by the way we work.

The Role

The Commercial Operations Manager plays a crucial role in driving financial sustainability by generating income and managing commercial activities through venue hire, event planning, merchandise sales and securing strategic long-term partnerships, enhancing existing revenue streams, and identifying new opportunities.

The position will ensure the charity maximises its commercial potential while staying true to its mission and values.

About you

We are looking for someone who has at least 3 years' experience in an income generation role, including venue hire and event management, ideally in a charity setting. 

You will be organised and planful in your work with the ability to project manage activities with strong budget management skills.  You’ll have the ability to communicate well and work with a variety of individuals and will be able to negotiate and influence well.  You need to be comfortable working independently and able to manage multiple different projects at pace.

About the Legacy Manager role:

The Public Fundraising team are responsible for recruiting and stewarding new supporters in order to secure long-term income and growth. The fundraising team has real ambition to grow and develop, and Legacy and  In-memory giving will form a key part of these plans.

The Fundraising Manager will manage the Trusts Fundraiser. The role works across two organisations: The Mary Hare Foundation and Mary Hare. These are two separate registered charities. The Mary Hare Foundation is the fundraising arm and Mary Hare is concerned with service delivery.

The largest fundraising targets are related to capital projects that are outlined by the School.There are some revenue fundraising targets, including the bursary scheme. The role is very hands on with both the management of fundraising and the implementation of fundraising activities, especially trust fundraising.

OPERATIONS MANAGER - ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

The Operations Manager is a key support for the church’s leadership and heads the staff team providing management over key operational and missional areas of the church’s activities.

This leadership role supports the ethos and ministries of the church and its mission to be a church for the community - discovering Jesus, sharing God’s love, and caring for those in need.

A vital aim for our church’s work in the local community is that our staff relationships, our Venue ministry, our Christian hospitality and how we use and share our building should all reflect God’s character - showing compassion, generosity, and kindness.

The role has a lot of different components, so we’re looking for someone who sees all aspects of this job as an expression of the church’s mission to proclaim the Good News and will facilitate and serve the congregation, the staff and the volunteer teams as they creatively explore ways to express our Christian ethos through the life and ministries of the church. This therefore requires that they are someone who has a mature Christian faith.

They will need to be a “servant“ leader who is mentally agile, energetic, able to schedule and prioritise, a good delegator, a team player, a quick learner and capable of taking initiatives, with a healthy understanding of self-care - we’re not looking for a “hero”, but someone who can work sustainability.

Leadership:

• Work closely with the church leadership team to support the trustees, staff and congregation in the development of church vision, ethos, mission and ministries.

Administrative Services and Support:

• Provide administrative support for the Ministers. Develop and maintain administrative, organisational, communications systems and record keeping procedures for the church’s general administration. Maintain membership and constitutional records.
• Administrate the church's IT infrastructure, broadband, phone systems, and utilities accounts and ensure they meet the operational needs of the building and its ministries.
• Assist the Venue Manager to develop and maintain suitable and effective systems, strategy, pricing, communications, contract management, staffing and customer relations.
• Develop the church’s visibility and profile in the community using the church’s website, social media, ArtSpace, and missional displays and exhibitions, ensuring these align with the church’s ethos and mission.

Financial Oversight:

• Oversee provision of financial management information to Leadership team and Trustees, including budgeting, salaries, financial reports, end-of-year statements. Support them in developing financial strategies and policies.
• Oversee the accurate functioning of church financial systems, controls and procedures. Monitor and administrate reserves and investments.
• Ensure WGC's financial practices comply with UK charity regulations. Assist with the filing of the accounts and annual report to the Charity Commission.

Provide financial oversight, management, and support for:

• Venue ministry finances, pricing and strategy
• Finance Administration - ensure all financial records, payroll, pension administration, invoices, and reports are accurate and timely. Authorise payments.
• Manage the buildings budget including liaising with the Estate Manager regarding common parts expenditure.
• Financial interactions with lease and licence holders including new leases, rent reviews, break clauses and lease renewals, insurance contributions.

About the Role

In this new role, you will contribute to enhancing the finance function within a growing and dynamic international charitable foundation. The role will enable you to work and continue your professional development across many aspects of the finance function. 

You will play an important part in our finance team’s further growth and professionalisation as Mission 44 extends its reach as a charity working in multiple countries. This role forms part of our Operations Team, currently comprising our Chief Operating Officer, our Head of Finance and Operations (HoFO), our Chief of Staff, our People and Culture Manager and our Operations Officer. A key part of your role will be acting as finance business partner to our other teams - impact, fundraising and communications - and demonstrating a customer service mindset in helping them achieve their objectives.

We’re looking for a finance professional, newly-qualified or working towards a chartered accountant qualification, wanting to develop their skills and career in a comprehensive finance role and contribute to our mission of helping young people thrive.

Roles and Responsibilities

Accounting (40%)

• Oversee day-to-day transactions, including accounts payable and receivable, for both the UK charity and the newly created US charity
• Ensure that accurate and comprehensive records of accounting evidence for all transactions are maintained
• Monitor cashflow
• Support the HoFO in the month-end process
• Oversee and control monthly payroll with external payroll provider
• Oversee and control VAT returns with external accountants
• Check monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations
