Job Purpose

This role sits within our Adult Services, across Hammersmith, Fulham, Ealing, Hounslow. You will be responsible for the operational delivery and service development, of a portfolio of services. Namely (but subject to change):

• Safe Space Community Drop In Service 
• Hounslow Helpline
• Nova Roots (Forensic Community Hub)

One large service you will be responsible for is our crisis alternative service – Safe Space - which is a tri-borough core and out of hours service providing a safe and welcoming space for people who are feeling distressed and experiencing crisis. The service operates 365 days a year from 14:00-22:00 across all of our boroughs. You will be responsible for managing peripatetic teams: we currently have 3x in person Safe Spaces, a Helpline and a Forensic Community You’re your portfolio may expand as new services are acquired.

Our aim of the service is to keep individuals well in the community and prevent readmission into hospital. The service operates 365 days a year from 14:00-22:00pm across all of our boroughs.

Staff within the service will provide person-centred, practical and emotional support, face to face or via telephone or virtual on a one-to-one basis to individuals experiencing mental health crisis or preventing crisis. 

The objectives of the service include: 

• To improve the mental wellbeing of people experiencing mental health and social crisis in HFEH. 

• To proactively work with keeping people well in the community to reduce re-admitters into hospitals by working with WL NHS teams (e.g. discharge, LPS, CATT, MINT and SPA) 

• To provide a true alternative to A&E via a non-clinical drop-in service to support clients 

• To provide support to clients accessing the service- for instance: signposting, de-escalation and crisis recovery planning. 

• To contribute to an improvement in individual mental wellbeing. 

• To remain a source of independent support for all clients. 

• To treat service users with respect, dignity and personalised support 

• To raise awareness of mental health services available with the goal to improve long term mental health and reduce social isolation 

• To increase self-management skills of those accessing the service 

• To reduce the use of police, ambulance and statutory mental health services whilst experiencing crisis via a drop-in service. 

• To reduce the use of statutory crisis services by people experiencing mental ill health without positive outcomes for the individual. 

The Role

The role of the Crisis Alternative Service Manager will provide operational management, mobilisation and service development of all Crisis’ Services within Adult Services. The ideal candidate will have experience of mobilising and developing high quality, large services. In addition to managing and supporting staff working within challenging environments and experience of working with challenging behaviour and complex needs. The Service Manager will hold all operational risk.

Excellent organisation and decision-making skills are essential for this role, as it requires being able to manage time effectively to meet tight deadlines and work unsupervised during evenings and weekends. You will also be required to be rostered into the on-call rota.

The Crisis Alternative Service Manager will be required to work collaboratively with the Director of Adult Services and will be proficient at communicating effectively with staff at all levels, a wide range of key stakeholders and service users. They will ensure the service is well resourced from a staffing perspective and embed high-quality operational plans and processes. The Service Manager will also be expected to build and sustain working relationships with statutory services and represent HFEH Mind at external meetings.

They will be responsible for the delivery, progression and continual improvement of the service. They will have responsibility for ensuring Crisis Services operate in line with organisational H&S processes and procedures, HFEH Mind policies and CQC requirements

Key Responsibilities

· To oversee the management of the Crisis Alternative Drop-in Services and other services, in line with organisational values and service quality expectations.

· To ensure all risks are recognised and mitigated in line with the serious incident and safeguarding policies.

· To ensure safe working and risk management

· To ensure feedback is provided on risk mitigation through serious incident reports.

· To continually drive enhancements to operational effectiveness and maximise outcomes against targets (key performance indicators)

· To complete audits and high quality reports for senior internal and external stakeholders

· To ensure interpret performance and impact data for crisis services and be responsible for reporting against service targets

· To provide effective line management supervision to Team Managers, Senior Support workers and Support Workers where applicable.

· To collaborate with the Director of Adult Services and the Head of HR to deal with performance management/disciplinary issues confidently and effectively in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.

· To mobilise the crisis services in line with agreed project plans and ensure they are promoted and marketed well.

· To pro-actively develop relationships with external stakeholders in order to improve and develop crisis provision for people with mental health needs.

· To develop robust referral routes and pathways into the service with both statutory and non-statutory bodies.

· To ensure excellence in the recruitment, training and ongoing support of staff and volunteers where applicable.

· To support the Deputy Manager, Team Managers to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing at all times within the service.

· To ensure high levels of meaningful service user involvement in service provision, responding to the needs of service users locally.

· Work collaboratively with West London Mental Health Trust staff to support, develop and promote both the service.

· Establish excellent working relationships with core and out-of-hours services such as Emergency Services, Crisis Teams and GPs, around inward and outward referrals.

· Ensure quality and compliance (in line with CQC standards, NICE guidelines, MQM and other relevant standards)

·        Work within HFEH Mind’s policies and procedures including; Performance Management, Confidentiality, Safeguarding, Equal Opportunities, Service User Involvement, Health & Safety, GDPR and Professional Boundaries.

· To embed all operational policies across managed services in line with a consistent organisational approach.

· Ensure service users satisfaction surveys are undertaken.

· Ensure data and qualitative information is collected, collated and communicated to key partners and key stakeholders, as required and directed by the Director of Adult Services.

· Ensure that all managed services are effectively informed by service user feedback.

· Keep up to date with best practice and contribute to the continuous improvement of the service.

· Monitor the quality of the service and ensure appropriate data is collected (in line with GDPR) to monitor outputs and outcomes.

· Produce regular service summary reports.

· To be rostered on the on-call rota

Person Specification

· A minimum of three years managing a crisis service or similar setting with high complexity and high incident rates

· Experience of managing and mitigating risks

About the charity

Living in the North West, we're 25% more likely to be diagnosed with cancer than elsewhere in the UK and many cancers are much more common across the region. Community fundraising is an important vehicle to challenge this - by raising money and awareness.

This role will cover North Manchester up to Lancashire - you'll be homebased with travel across the patch to meet supporters.

What will I be fundraising for?

Recent fundable projects include a groundbreaking annual Regional Report on cancer and the innovative Lab-Coat Learning education programme for the region's schools.

You'll act as the face of the charity out in the community, spreading the word about how fundraising can drive positive change. You'll develop relationships with volunteer fundraisers, community groups and local businesses, encouraging and motivating them to fundraise.

You'll deliver interactive presentations, activities and outreach sessions at schools and volunteer groups, offering support, advice and guidance on how people can supercharge their fundraising.

Overview of the role

As the Fundraising Officer, you will play a key role in delivering a range of fundraising appeals and our individual and regular giving programmes. This position also provides plenty of variety and the opportunity to support and develop skills across several income streams. The Fundraising Officer will work collaboratively with the Fundraising and Communications teams and closely with the Senior Fundraising Managers.

 What you will do as part of our team

Fundraising activities

Individual Giving

· Manage the regular giving programme by implementing a rolling 12-month plan of meaningful touchpoints to deepen relationships

· Develop and implement a plan to encourage increased giving and recruit new regular donors with personalised cultivation and stewardship

· Maximise engagement and retention of individual supporters (giving at a lower to mid level) by prompt thanking, excellent stewardship and building effective donor journeys

Fundraising Appeals

· Manage Glass Door’s direct marketing appeals including our flagship annual Christmas appeal – taking the lead on the direct mail and email campaign

· Lead on content development, and implementation of donor segmentation based on giving history, preferences, and engagement levels

· Work closely with the Communications Team to deliver a robust communication plan – actively taking part in the case studies, content creation and digital campaign plans (social media and website)

· Create and implement a follow-up communication plan to thank donors and provide updates on the impact of their contributions

· Undertake evaluations of each appeal’s performance metrics and donor responses to refine future appeals

Fundraising support

· Monitor the Fundraising inbox and respond promptly to ad-hoc queries from individual donors or prospects

· Support the Senior Fundraising Managers with research into current and prospective donors, and compile information to support funding applications and reports

· Thank and steward in-memoriam gifts

· Support the wider team at events e.g. Sleep Out, Christmas Carols and other supporter events

· Opportunity in due course to work towards managing a small portfolio of trusts, foundations and other grant-making bodies which would involve drafting applications and meeting reporting requirements (depending on interest and aptitude)

Fundraising Administration

· Create and update donor records as required on Access Charity CRM database , ensuring relevant records are kept up to date, accurate and consistent at all times.

· Work with Finance and the Income Processing Assistant to ensure accurate and timely processing of donations, including scanning cheques, coding bank transfers and web donations, entering details in the CRM database, banking cash, setting up Direct Debits and acknowledging/thanking donors via email or post.

Casework & Training Lead Officer

Full-time (35 hours); initial one-year contract; £28-35K dependent on experience, immediate start

Amicus provides representation for those facing the death penalty in the US.  We believe capital punishment is imposed disproportionately on the most vulnerable in society, violating their right to due process and to equal justice before the law.  Our aims are to provide better access to justice and to raise awareness of potential abuses of defendants' rights.

We are not primarily a campaigning organisation; rather, we believe we can make the greatest difference through frontline work, including via our extensive network of casework teams working on a variety of projects.

We’re seeking a Lead Officer to play a central role in the busy Amicus team, with the position’s focus being on casework and on training.  The role offers a great deal of variety: coordinating our busy casework programme of projects, including supporting caseworkers and teams; and leading in the delivery of training and educational events, especially those aimed at our casework teams.

You will be part of a small team, which means we all pitch in to help each other when necessary. Workload will be demanding at times, an ability to work across multiple tasks and to prioritise will be essential.  Given the critical and highly sensitive nature of our work, attention to detail, meeting deadlines and quality of work all are a high priority.  You will be interacting with law firms and volunteers all around the world, making communication skills essential for the role.

This is a hybrid role; there will be a requirement to be in our central London office, generally Thursday and Fridays, as well as for casework briefings at law firms as required within the working day, alongside some remote working. Office hours are Monday to Friday 10am to 6pm with an hour lunch break. We run two major training events each year that would require weekend working. We would consider part-time/job-share working for the right person/people.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you bring relevant experience managing income generation products from start to finish, specifically within the context of product marketing, fundraising campaigns and/or fundraising events.

You are enthusiastic, proactive, and commercially aware, with a proven track record in delivering multi-channel customer journeys, managing, and executing projects, and presenting to both internal and external stakeholders.

With a solid understanding of marketing and/or fundraising (including insight, customer journeys and marketing communications), you are knowledgeable about content management systems and customer databases, as well as new and emerging technologies and trends in the marketing and fundraising space.

Your excellent communication, organisational, and analytical skills are complemented by your experience in budget management and your understanding of line management principles and practices.

Working arrangements

This is a 12 month fixed term contract. 

This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London office. There will be a requirement for flexible out of hours working to support occasional evening and weekend activity. You will be compensated for this with time off in lieu.

About you

Desirably you will have some experience of working as an Advocate, providing welfare, supporting, or caring for Adults or Children and young people who have support needs, ideally for those with a variety of communication needs, mental ill health, physical health issues, or barriers to accessing education and support.

You should have worked or volunteered in health, social care, welfare, support services, education or young person’s services, or advice and guidance.

How are staff supported to work remotely? 

VoiceAbility has a small number of offices. Employees including Team Leaders are homebased for Administration and meetings will be held online as well as in person in the relevant community. 

When you need to travel for work, expenses will be paid (mileage or public transport costs).  

VoiceAbility offers the usual regular manager one to ones, Staff forums and communities of practice depending on role. Team meetings with a mix of virtual and in person approach.

About Us

Safer Waves was set up in 2019 to provide support to merchant seafarers who have experienced sexual assault, sexual harassment or gender discrimination on board.

Safer Waves provides an anonymous email support service, run by volunteers who are trained in responding to disclosures of sexual violence, and who understand the specific challenges experienced when these events happen onboard a vessel.

We work with shipping companies, industry leaders, law enforcement and maritime training providers to raise awareness of sexual violence within the maritime industry, and to improve the support that is available to seafarers who experience it.

Job Purpose

For the first 5 years, Safer Waves has been a volunteer-led organisation. We are now in the exciting position of being able to recruit a CEO, and we are looking for an individual who has the passion to see this new organisation thrive in the maritime welfare sector.

As the head of a small and rapidly developing organisation, the CEO role will be extremely varied, with the opportunity to shape the organisational structure as needed. The CEO will work closely with the trustee board and Operations Manager to deliver the strategy, improve sustainability and financial resilience, manage risk and deliver high-quality services to our beneficiaries.

We are a growing organisation, and this is a unique opportunity to grow and innovate with the organisation and to contribute to our future success. Responsibilities & Accountabilities 

The CEO reports directly to the Trustee Board and is responsible for the following:

• Strategy: Shape and deliver the charity's strategy over the next five years, whilst also ensuring the day-to-day running of the charity remains effective.

• Finance: Maintain and develop relationships with funders, and find new funding streams for the charity. Prepare budgets and control spending accordingly.

• Risk management and compliance: Work with the trustees to ensure strong governance, including effective management of risks and compliance with current legislation.

• Relationships: Build and maintain relationships with international organisations including charities, shipping companies, law enforcement and government agencies among others.

• Line management: Manage staff and volunteers

• Communications and Outreach: Work with the Operations Manager, Trustees and volunteers to raise the profile of the charity and increase the number of seafarers reached

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our award-winning Fundraising Team at Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital Charity. The Corporate Partnerships Officer will join our recently established Philanthropy and Partnerships (P&P) team to help us develop and nurture a range of corporate and philanthropic relationships. Together, we will significantly increase our income in support of the world leading research, treatment, and care that takes place across our hospitals in areas such as: childhood cancer, rare diseases, neonatal and maternal health, children and young people’s mental health, and critical care. 

The Corporate Partnerships Officer will be responsible for account managing a portfolio of new and existing corporate accounts to deliver a sustainable income growth year on year. One billion people will never see a qualified health worker in their lives. For over thirty years, GHP has been working to change this, training health workers to build a world where everyone has access to affordable and quality healthcare. We do this by leveraging the expertise and energy of the UK health community, supporting health partnerships between hospitals, colleges and clinics in the UK and those overseas. 

From reducing maternal deaths in Uganda to improving the quality of hospital care for injured children in Myanmar, we work to strengthen local health systems and build a healthier future for all. In the past seven years alone, GHP has reached over 84,000 health workers across 31 countries in Africa, the Middle East and Asia in partnership with over 130 UK institutions and UK health workers who have contributed over 60,000 days of their time as volunteers. The programme has contributed to more effective and efficient health systems in low- and middle- income countries (LMICs).1 It also benefits the UK health sector through improved health professional competencies, motivation, health service innovations and global influence.2 GHP’s work is rooted in the Health Partnership Model. Health partnerships are long-term, institutional relationships between health organisations in the UK and their counterparts in LMICs, and are based on ideas of co-development, reciprocal learning and mutual benefit. Staff from UK health institutions volunteer their time developing and carrying out health systems strengthening activities at their LMIC partner institution, be that training, curriculum development, leadership and governance, etc. 

UFUQ project overview:

The project is strategically designed to uplift the health conditions of the Syrian population. It addresses critical elements of health workforce management and medical education in Syria, aiming for a transformative impact on health outcomes in the region. 

Specialized Medical Education Enhancement: 

UFUQ aims to enable targeted specialties in Syria to play a pivotal role in advancing medical education and practice. This encompasses a comprehensive review, update, and rollout of curricula, teaching, and assessment materials in emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, and anaesthesiology. The project focuses on strengthening capacities in medical education, clinical/CPD areas, English language proficiency, research skills, and fostering scientific collaboration and partnership among and between faculties, residents, and international peers.

Rooted in the UFUQ philosophy, this intervention believes that by strengthening the systems and capacities for specialized medical education, the quality and accessibility of specialist health services will be markedly improved. The UFUQ project envisions a transformative approach contributing to the broader goal of achieving universal health coverage and delivering better-quality care in Syria. 

Objective of the Position 

The Technical Manager Medical Education will provide technical expertise to ensure the project and partners are all working to a shared vision for Post Graduate Medical education and that all are delivering within appropriate technical requirements and standards.  The position will coordinate with stakeholders, supervise technical staff, and ensure the program aligns with the project log frame and best practices in health workforce development and medical education. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Ensure technical alignment of the UFUQ project with HRH strategies and medical education reforms in Syria. 

• Provide overarching technical leadership and guidance to ensure that all project’s Medical Education strengthening activities are aligned with international best practices in postgraduate medical education and health workforce development.

• Ensure technical coherence and alignment of project interventions with the log frame, theory of change, and objectives approved by the donor and Syrian partners. 

• Oversee the quality assurance of technical deliverables, including research, training curricula, and policy frameworks developed under the UFUQ project, and ensure their relevance, scientific validity, and GESI sensitivity. 

• Promote capacity-building efforts, and quality assure ToT programs for HRH actors at national and sub-national levels. 

• Lead the technical coordination and engagement with key stakeholders, including MoH, Syrian Board, academic institutions, professional associations, and international partners (e.g., RCOG, RCEM)., to strengthen technical collaborations within the UFUQ project and to ensure integration and complementarity across all project activities.

• Support the localisation of the Postgraduate Medical Education Diploma and other training efforts, guiding National partners (Center of Strategic Studies and Health training” and Syrian Board) teams in the adoption of the tools, standards, and accreditation systems. 

• Contribute to sustainability planning by supporting the development of Terms of Reference and standard operating procedures for the Specialties Technical Committees. 

• Represent the program in technical meetings with donors, MoH, and other HRH actors.

• Ensure that GESI is integrated across all tracks by supervising the GESI specialist, reviewing curricula and training plans, and leading the technical team in implementing inclusive strategies. 

• Promote mechanisms for feedback from women healthcare workers and residents, and ensure their needs are addressed in planning and implementation. 

• Support In-Country efforts for Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) to align with UFUQ project indicators and outcomes.

• Identify technical risks, bottlenecks, or inconsistencies in project delivery and propose corrective actions in coordination with the Program Lead and donor if required. 

• Provide rapid-response technical input when issues arise in curriculum roll-out, clinical mentoring, or institutional engagement. 

• Lead the design and planning of new or amended technical activities.

Qualifications & Experience 

• Advanced degree (Master or PhD) in Medical Education preferably with experience in developing postgraduate medical education programmes. 

• Experience working in a senior position in NGO context (Syrian context is preferred). 

• Previous experience in stakeholder coordination, policy analysis, and capacity building. 

• Strong understanding of GESI-sensitive approaches in health workforce planning and governance. 

• Excellent representational, written, and verbal communication skills in English and Arabic. 

• Organisational and administrative skills with sound IT skills (Word and Excel). 

• Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills. 

• Flexibility and adaptability to work independently in a small organisation and in a complex environment.
