We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Finance Assistant. You will join us working 35 hours per week, on permanent basis and will be based remotely. In return you will receive a salary of up to £26,796 per annum plus excellent benefits.

The Finance Directorate has a highly skilled team of employees who cover financial accounting and transaction processing, management accounting and reporting and payroll. The Charity has an annual revenue budget of £75m and operates a trading subsidiary with income in excess of £2.0m per annum. The team processes around 5,000 supplier payments and 150,000 neutering vouchers per year. In addition, they run a payroll for over 1,000 staff and support over 220 branches and their volunteer treasurers, as well as providing financial advice and support to the 36 centres and a chain of over 100 shops.
Responsibilities of our Finance Assistant:
This is an entry-level Finance Assistant position, the ideal candidate will have some experience working in an office-based finance team and looking to develop their skills and gain additional experience.
As our Finance Assistant you will provide processing and administrative support for the financial accounting activities of the charity. You will also provide a high-quality service and be responsible for ledgers they control. The role will focus on a core area, either purchase ledger, banking or CPL Enterprises, but will be able to interchange with tasks in other areas. Duties will include processing PO’s and requests for payment, undertaking BACs and cheque payment runs, reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies, daily banking activities and other general administrative tasks.
What we’re looking for in our Finance Assistant:
- Experience working within a finance team, ideally accounts receivable or accounts payable departments
- Experience of working within an office environment
- A keen eye for detail and accuracy
- Experience of using accounting software or a similar type of database
- Ability to process data accurately and quickly
- Experience of using Microsoft Excel to an intermediate level

Background - Number Champions
We set up Number Champions in 2018 to transform the lives of children in state primary schools who struggle with numeracy or lack confidence in maths. We employed our first staff member, our Head of Operations (HoO), in 2022 and our second, an administrator, in 2023..
We are the only charity systematically working in-person with young children in our field. Early support will put children on track to achieve their full life potential in a world where some fluency with maths is an essential building block. Success in this one area can increase their self-esteem and their involvement in education as a whole.
Now in our sixth year, we are working across 14 London boroughs in 32 partner schools, with over 110 In-School Volunteers supporting more than 300 children. We plan to increase these numbers each year. Our medium-term vision is to expand across London, while maintaining the highly positive impact we have achieved to date.
We are proud to have received two national awards last year recognising the work of our volunteers, and we are currently shortlisted for a 2024 award.

The Administrator role
Our HoO has taken the lead in developing the charity and in giving us the capacity to expand further while maintaining quality of delivery. The administrator reports to the HoO and manages the bulk of the administration processes of the charity.
The role is for an equivalent of 2 days a week, during school term-time only. It will be almost all remote, although you will be expected to attend occasional meetings in Central London (or possibly North London if that is more convenient for you).
We intend the role to be permanent, but we are offering an 11-month contract September to July pending confirmation of funding.
Impact on the organisation
You will take on key responsibilities for administration and for contact with different groups of stakeholders. In a small professional team, you will have the opportunity to suggest ideas and to influence the development of the charity.
Core responsibilities
- Manage the administration processes of onboarding volunteers and schools
- Gather, capture, and maintain the charity’s data in our management system
- Communicate with volunteers and with office and finance staff at partner schools

Benefits
25 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays, prorated for a 2-day-a-week role.
(Although the role is for only 39 weeks a year we will pay you for 33 days annual holiday reduced only by 2/5 for working 2 days a week. This increases your take home pay by about 4% compared to also reducing holidays by 39/52 for weeks worked.)

The Role

In this role, you will:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of Marie Curie's Peer Support Services to provide volunteer-delivered emotional support by phone to people living with a terminal illness, carers, family and friends as well as those who are bereaved from terminal illness.
- Line-manage a team of Volunteer Co-ordinators and Peer Support Officers ensure a high-quality service is provided to all service users and volunteers are recruited, trained and managed at the highest standard.
- Be responsible for service key performance indicators (KPIs), governance, leading on design and delivery of training to volunteers, and proactively managing the quality of our services.
- Alongside the Team Leader of our Support Line, act as a safeguarding lead, ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed and staff and volunteers receive the support that they need to deal with difficult situations.

About the Role:
Victim Support (VS) is the leading independent charity in England and Wales for people who have been affected by crime and traumatic incidents. Understanding the experience and needs of victims and witnesses of crime is central to the charities' aims and vision.
As a Research & Lived Experience Officer you will have the opportunity to capture the voice of victims and promote evidence based recommendations to improve the experience of victims in the criminal justice system. The Ripple Pond is a charity that supports adult family members of physically and/or psychologically injured British Armed Forces personnel and veterans. Many of these individuals and family members are hard to reach and often isolated.
Your role will be to ensure that more and more of the military community, professionals and other interested parties know who we are and how to access our support.
You will also help to organise our exciting programme of online talks and activities for our Members (service-users) to help ensure they are well-informed, involved and feel part of a supportive community. Making sure that Members are always involved in generating ideas and production.

This is a new role for the Circuit, replacing a volunteer. In designing the position, the Circuit has aimed for maximum flexibility to secure the best candidate for the role. Initially, the person will need physically to attend some meetings to familiarise themselves with the Circuit's operations and ensure a smooth hand-over. For the right person, though, there will be considerable flexibility about how the duties are fulfilled in the longer-term. The Richmond & Hounslow Circuit comprises seven churches in southwest London. As with all Methodist circuits, these churches function autonomously yet collaborate closely in their ministry and mission efforts. The Circuit oversees joint resources, including staff and property. Presently, it employs four full-time ordained ministers, one full-time lay pastor, and a part-time administrator. As a part of the Methodist Church, its mission is “to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission”. To fulfil this mission, the Circuit fosters a broad spectrum of ministry within its congregations, focusing on worship but also engaging in outreach to the homeless, asylum seekers, new parents, and various other groups.
