Our Challenge Events team has just seen a 60% increase in fundraiser numbers this year. We’re hiring now to unlock the full potential of this incredible community. Reporting into the Challenge Events Manager, you’ll boost our ability to grow our portfolio of events and connect personally with the incredible people who support CALM on a day to day basis. 

The reasons people fundraise for CALM can be deeply personal. They might have lost someone to suicide, used our helpline for themselves or someone they know, or they might want to support a lifesaving service. By understanding what drives them, you’ll shape and deliver event experiences that feel meaningful and memorable, strengthen their connection to CALM, and inspire them to keep coming back for more. 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

CORE

• Contribute to CALM’s fundraising targets, through excellent event delivery, relationship management and supporter care

• Ensure all supporters receive excellent care from CALM, as well as completing all assigned admin tasks with a high degree of accuracy

• Confidently represent CALM at key meetings and events

• Be a data steward for fundraising, ensuring quality data management

SUPPORTER ENGAGEMENT AND STEWARDSHIP

• Support on delivery of the Challenge Events portfolio, ensuring Challenge Event Fundraisers are staying on track - such as completing registration forms on time, and setting up fundraising pages

• Provide general support to the Challenge Events Manager with event day delivery as required

• Represent CALM at Challenge Events, including acting as an Event Day Lead, and attending wider CALM events

• Work with the Challenge Events Manager and Event Fundraising Lead to develop our portfolio of events, analysing performance, identifying opportunities and putting ideas into action

• Steward CALM’s Challenge Event Fundraisers effectively throughout their journey when supporting CALM, to ensure they feel appreciated and inspired to fundraise for us

• Be the friendly voice of CALM, responding to enquiries through the website or phone in a timely manner

• Proactively craft and send personalised emails to fundraisers to drive retention and satisfaction

• Help with the management and optimisation of the Challenge Event email automated journeys used to steward participants in the lead up to and after their event

• Help to devise and manage our email marketing strategy to event participants 

• Deliver stewardship calls to Challenge Event Fundraisers - welcoming them to the team upon sign up, wishing them good luck before their event, or offering them fundraising guidance and support 

• Work across various income platforms to ensure fundraising pages and donations are correctly coded, including JustGiving and Enthuse

• Support on the maintenance of relevant pages on the CALM website

• Analyse feedback from fundraisers via our post event surveys and identify areas for improvement

• Engage with Fundraisers on our CALM Facebook groups - sparking conversation and fostering a supportive community atmosphere

• Recruit and manage volunteers to support at events

• Work with the wider organisation to improve processes and data management

• Support in other areas of Public Fundraising as required, including community fundraising and individual giving.

Competencies

Essential

• A strong understanding of challenge event fundraising 

• Able to take initiative, manage a varied work load with great organisational skills

• Passion for fundraising and understanding of the importance of providing excellent supporter care by telephone, SMS, and email

• Confident making telephone calls, with a friendly and empathetic telephone manner 

• A creative mind and ability to problem-solve

• A self-starter, happy and able to develop areas of work that might not have been done before 

• Excellent IT skills

• Willing to work occasional out of hours and weekends as required

Experience

Essential

• Experience in event delivery (preferably from within the third sector)

• Experience in a fundraising role 

• Experience in a customer or supporter facing role, interacting with customers/supporters on a day to day basis

• Experience working with a CRM database (preferably Salesforce)

• Experience working with fundraising platforms, such as Just Giving and Enthuse 

• Experience of using email marketing tools and managing email campaigns

• Experience of using G-suite

We are creating a new Senior Women’s Caseworker role to deliver tailored health advocacy and support to women experiencing homelessness.

You will:

• Provide one-to-one advocacy for around 35 women annually across 11 London boroughs.
• Attend approximately 250 healthcare appointments each year with clients.
• Deliver 20 women-only health promotion sessions, reaching around 100 women.
• Co-create three new resources on women’s health with clients for wider distribution.

The role of Head of Legal reports to the Director of Legal & Governance and you will assist them in ensuring the legal function of the organisation runs efficiently, smoothly and that we proactively identify and address legal risk and development needs.

Team: Night Shelters 

Location: On-site at Glass Door Night shelter venues in the boroughs of Kensington & Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham or Wandsworth 

Duration: 1 November 2025 to April 2026

Reporting to: Service Manager – Night Shelters 

Shifts available:  

• 7:00pm to 7:15am 

• 7:00pm to 8:15am (driver) 

• 9:45pm to 7:15am 

• 9:45pm to 8:15am (driver) 

Pay: £14.50 per hour, or £15.00 per hour when you are the designated driver for that shift. 

Job Purpose

As an Overnight Homeless Shelter Worker, you’ll be part of a small, professional team running Glass Door’s night shelters between November and April. Working alongside at least one other staff member, you’ll be awake and engaged throughout the night, supporting up to 35 guests who are experiencing homelessness. 

Your role is about creating a safe, calm, and welcoming space where guests can rest, feel respected, and be treated with dignity. You’ll build trust through friendly conversation, keep an eye on everyone’s wellbeing with regular checks, and step in when problems arise – from offering reassurance to someone in emotional distress, to calmly handling challenging behaviour, to calling emergency services if needed. 

Most nights are steady and focused on guest support, but there can be moments of pressure. We’ll provide training so you feel confident and prepared. You’ll also help serve a light breakfast in the morning and ensure our equipment is packed and ready for the next night – with one of you driving the van back to base. 

If you’re compassionate, calm under pressure, and committed to helping people move forward from homelessness, this role offers the chance to make a real and lasting difference. 

Job Responsibilities

What You’ll Do 

You’ll be part of the overnight team making sure our night shelters are safe, supportive, and welcoming spaces for everyone staying with us. This is an awake, overnight role, you will be alert and engaged for the whole shift. Your main responsibilities will include: 

• Welcoming and supporting guests – Create a friendly, respectful atmosphere and build positive relationships with guests, volunteers, and colleagues. 

• Staying alert all night – Carry out regular checks around the shelter (every 20 minutes) to make sure guests are safe, and comfortable. 

• Responding to situations – Calmly manage any issues that arise, such as someone feeling unwell, experiencing emotional distress, or showing challenging behaviour. This may sometimes mean calling emergency services. Training will be provided. 

• Keep the shelter safe and secure – Follow all safety, security, and health and safety procedures. This includes locking and unlocking doors and making sure the space stays tidy and free from hazards. 

• Recording important information – Write clear, accurate shift reports and note any concerns or observations. Complete incident forms if needed. 

• Supporting volunteers – Offer direction and guidance to volunteers on shift so everyone works well together. 

• Enforcing behaviour expectations – Address situations where may display challenging behaviour, using a calm and respectful approach, conflict de-escalation training is provided for all staff. 

• Packing and unpacking the van – unload equipment and supplies into the van at the start of the shift and repack at the end of the night. The allocated driver will return the van to base (driver shifts are paid for an extra hour). 

• Restocking supplies – Keep an eye on essentials such as tea, coffee, and toilet paper, and restock from the van when needed. 

• Preparing a simple breakfast – In the morning, help serve drinks, toast, and porridge, and make sure guests are woken from 6am so they can leave by 7am. 

• Tidying and closing down – Gather equipment, pack it away, and ensure nothing is left behind. 

• Training and meetings – Attend occasional in-person training sessions, team meetings, or other activities. From time to time, you may be assigned online training to complete while on shift. 

• Work to a rota – Shifts will include evenings, weekends, and public holidays, so flexibility is important. 

• Help with other tasks as needed – From time to time, you may be asked to help with other reasonable tasks that keep the night shelter running smoothly. 

Person Specification 

Essential 

• A genuine commitment to providing a high standard of service and treating everyone with respect, kindness, and dignity. 

• Confidence in handling challenging behaviour calmly and respectfully. 

• Good communication skills, both spoken and written. 

• The ability to carry out manual handling tasks such as moving supplies and equipment. 

• For driver shifts: A valid driving licence for a manual vehicle and be willing to drive the Glass Door van. 

Desirable 

• Experience working with people experiencing homelessness or other vulnerable groups. 

• The ability to speak another language, for example Arabic, Tigrinya, Amharic, Polish, Spanish, French, or Russian. 

• A lived experience of homelessness. 

• An understanding of, and commitment to, trauma-informed care. 

• Relevant training such as first aid, fire safety, conflict de-escalation, or Mental Health First Aid. 

Other 

• Employment is subject to a satisfactory enhanced DBS check for adults.

About the role 

At the heart of our operations, our exceptional Regional Casework Coordinators serve as the primary point of contact for members of the armed forces community reaching out to our Regional Offices for support.

In this dynamic role, no two days are the same. You may be supporting individuals in distress over the phone, managing email and voicemail communications, collaborating with volunteers on complex casework, building strong relationships with local authorities and charitable organisations, or working closely with internal services to secure the best possible outcomes for our clients.

You will sometimes handle complex problems from individuals who may be distressed, identifying the presenting and potential underlying needs to determine the best way to support them. You will have ownership of cases from beginning to end, coordinating the casework process in a timely manner and ensuring that the beneficiary journey is at the centre of the Service.

Whilst the post is homebased, to be eligible for this role you are required to live in the East of England region in Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, or Essex.

You will occasionally be required to travel around the region or further afield, to attend face to face meetings or training events.

To help you establish yourself in this new post you will receive excellent training and induction to SSAFA. You will initially be required to attend an in-person caseworkers’ course which may require an overnight stay.

About the team 

Reporting to the Regional Casework Manager our Casework Coordinators, together with our Volunteer Caseworkers, work remotely within the regional office area.  With beneficiaries at the heart of everything we do, team members pride themselves in building and maintaining close working relationships to ensure the smooth operation of the office.  The wider regional support team includes a Regional Manager, Volunteer Development Manager and a Community Engagement Manager. 

About you 

To thrive in this role, you'll demonstrate composure and resilience, paired with genuine empathy and a strong commitment to supporting those in need.

Our beneficiaries are at the heart of everything we do. To support them effectively, you’ll need to be an attentive listener and a clear, compassionate communicator.

You will have experience of providing welfare support, especially on the telephone and an understanding of benefits, debt management, disability, homelessness, local authority provision or mobility would be a real benefit.  Understanding the way of life of today’s Armed Forces, veterans and their families and experience of working with volunteers would be a real advantage.

Knowledge of Safeguarding and GDPR is essential in this sensitive role as team members are responsible for recording and protecting personal data and reporting safeguarding concerns.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications is essential, and prior experience using a case management system would be highly advantageous.  It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.

About the role

Reporting in to the Church & Supporter Engagement Lead, the Church Engagement & Fundraising Advisor will lead and inspire a team of Church Engagement & Fundraising Officers, ensuring exceptional stewardship and engagement with churches, Christian Aid groups,
and the wider public to support Christian Aid’s values and goals.

The post-holder will oversee the stewardship of existing churches, re-engage lapsed supporters, and acquire new ones while equipping and motivating supporters to give, act, and pray against global poverty and injustice.

Some of the main responsibilities of the Church Engagement & Fundraising Advisor will include:

• Management of a team of Church Engagement & Fundraising Officers, fostering a collaborative mindset and creating an environment that promotes the exchange of ideas and knowledge.
• Build trusted relationships with churches, groups, and individuals, ensuring strong connections between teams for effective stewardship and seamless information-sharing.
• Actively identify and engage the most supportive churches across England, inspiring them to give, act, and pray with Christian Aid through tailored programmes of activity.
• Development and delivery of impactful plans to engage our existing supporting churches in key appeals and campaigns.
• Cultivate a culture of continuous learning in relation to supporter care, including communications with supporters, with a focus on Christian Aid Week, Christmas, emergency appeals and priority campaigns.
• Recruit and empower volunteers to build capacity and deliver maximum impact, modelling accountability and striving for cost-effective solutions that streamline decision-making and foster consensus.
• Representation at Christian events, conferences and festivals, aimed at raising our profile with church audiences, maintaining support with our existing churches, and growing prospective churches to support Christian Aid and maximise our impact.

The Digital Technical Lead will work closely with our Technology teams and external partners, playing a key role in maintaining and improving the organisation’s digital presence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical oversight and guidance to ensure all platforms are feasible, secure, scalable, secure, and aligned with best practice.

• Act as the main technical contact for our website agency and manage the day-to-day relationship.

About You:

• Strong experience delivering and overseeing digital platforms with knowledge of digital technologies and architecture.
• Experience working in, and ideally developing, product-based approaches.
• Technical expertise in Drupal CMS and Microsoft Dynamics 365.
• Experience managing relationships with external digital agencies.
• Strong knowledge of performance optimisation, user experience, and accessibility standards (such as WCAG 2.1).
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to a wide range of audiences.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to assess technical feasibility and manage risks effectively.

The Association for Post-Natal Illness (APNI) is a national charity that provides information, support, and advice to women experiencing post-natal depression. We also support partners, friends, and family members.

We are seeking a Trainee Administrative Assistant to join our small and supportive team in Fulham.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in the charity sector. In this role, you will:

• Provide frontline support by answering our helpline, emails, and letters (with full training and supervision).
• Maintain contact with volunteers, supporters, and beneficiaries.
• Learn to use our internal database and support profile-raising activities.
• Help with communication to health professionals (midwives, health visitors, etc.).
• Occasionally liaise with journalists to provide general information.

Training & Support

We’ll provide full training during the first six months with ongoing support from experienced colleagues.
