The Age Connects shopping service is an invaluable lifeline to so many older, vulnerable members of our local communities, particularly those with no family or friends to offer shopping support. We know that older people can become frail, and those who have mobility problems, who no longer drive or don’t have access to the internet, may find it difficult to do their weekly shop.
As a shopper you will be providing a shop and deliver service for the client either on a weekly or fortnightly basis. You will collect their shopping list, carry out the shopping and deliver it back to them. It could be that you’re the only person they see or speak to that day or even that week and it can be an opportunity to have a chat with the client, provide them with information about other services they may need or to offer practical help.
This is a fee paying service, the client will pay £5 per shop to the charity. If you are a friendly, reliable and trustworthy, you can help. You need to be aged 18+, and to be able to make a commitment for a minimum of 6 months: we will also require two character references, and will carry out a DBS check before you can start. It is best if you have access to your own transport, as some clients do not live centrally, or require large shops.

1.1 Role rationale

1.2 Role summary

2. Responsibilities
2.1 General responsibilities of the Trustee Board
The Trustees are collectively responsible for:
· maintaining BBF’s Christian identity and ethos;
· developing and promulgating BBF’s strategy from time to time and measuring progress in implementing the strategy;
· ensuring and monitoring BBF’s legal and regulatory compliance and risk management;
· approving BBF’s policies and procedures and amendments to them;
· ensuring BBF’s financial stability and implementing appropriate financial controls; and
· providing oversight of, and Trustee-level support for, all of the Areas of Work that together comprise BBF’s operations.
2.2 General responsibilities of a Trustee
· Attend in-person Trustee Board meetings (held every other month), subject to occasional absences, and an annual open meeting.
· Attend an annual awayday to discuss strategy and other issues.
· Participate in appropriate training and update sessions during the year.
· Participate in discussions and decisions on Trustee Board issues between in-person meetings, including by email and other means of electronic communication and occasional virtual meetings.
2.3 Specific responsibilities for the Fundraising Trustee
· Provide leadership for the development of a fundraising strategy with the Trustee Board, while respecting the role of the Foodbank Manager.
· Contribute knowledge of fundraising techniques, best practice, and strategies.
· Help us further develop our fundraising capabilities through effective people and processes.
2.4 Sub-committee responsibilities
Each Trustee sits on one or more of our Trustee sub-committees, which in the case of each sub-committee entails:
· familiarising yourself and keeping yourself up-to-date with the activities of BBF within that Area of Work;
· attending any in-person meetings of the sub-committee;
· participating in discussions and decisions on sub-committee issues between in-person meetings, including by email and other means of electronic communication and occasional virtual meetings; and
The Fundraising Lead Trustee would sit on the Finance and Major Assets Sub-committee.
3. Required background
· A hands-on background in charity fundraising with experience of charity fundraising at a strategic and operational level.
· Knowledge of individual giving, corporate, major donor and community fundraising within the context of a small charity.
4. Other relevant matters
4.1 Time commitment
We estimate the average time commitment for a Trustee’s general and sub-committee responsibilities (as identified above, assuming membership of one Area of Work sub-committee) to be in the region of 4-5 hours per month.
We would expect to discuss the precise scope of the role, and the additional time commitment which it might involve, with the appointee. Our preference is to have our Fundraising Lead as a Trustee (with the wider general and sub-committee responsibilities that involves), but would be happy to consider a more targeted appointment for the right appointee.
4.2 Working as a volunteer in another role
To avoid conflicts of interest, we ask Trustees not to be part of any of our regular operational teams; but we do allow Trustees to provide assistance in particular areas of expertise on the same basis as would apply to any other volunteer.
4.3 Remuneration
You will not be entitled to any remuneration for undertaking your role as a Trustee.

Are you aged between 16 to 25 years old? Do you want to make child poverty a thing of the past? Applications for our Youth Ambassador scheme are now open. We are looking to recruit 4 new Ambassadors.
Deadline for applications is 7th October 2025.
We are committed to developing and retaining Ambassadors that are representative of the diverse communities that we serve. We’re striving to build an inclusive workplace culture where everyone feels valued and diversity is celebrated by everyone.
We encourage people from all sections of the community to apply to be ambassadors. We particularly welcome applications from people living in Wales, Devon, Cornwall and the Midlands, young parents and people receiving benefits, because these groups are currently under-represented in our ambassadors.
Length of role:
One year minimum, with an option to continue on further. Ambassadors are aged between 16 and 25.
Role purpose:
To work alongside the existing Youth Ambassadors, to bring your own knowledge and experience, passion and enthusiasm to the group. These current Ambassadors have recently published this report about the impact of the cost of living crisis on 16 to 25 year olds. From this the Ambassadors have been campaigning to address differences in pay between younger workers and older workers. Ambassadors also work to support the work of the Coalition in other ways including attending meetings, working with member charities.
Other work as part of this role could include:
• Writing blogs for the website
• Developing surveys and conducting research
• Speaking to the media (we will provide training, and there is no need to do this if you don’t want to)
• Meeting MPs
• Speaking at events
Time Commitment and payment: This is flexible, you can do as much or as little as you like. We generally have a one hour meeting a month, and will organise a summer in-person meeting. Between that you may spend a couple of hours a month working on projects that interest you. Youth Ambassadors are remunerated for their time spent volunteering at a rate equivalent to the London Living Wage. This can either be with money via a bank transfer or with vouchers. We do not provide payment for taking part in media interviews, to ensure you never feel like you have to do these.
What’s in it for you? You will have the opportunity to work alongside a likeminded group of young people, who all want to ensure no child in the UK is growing up in poverty. We provide you with training on areas like campaigning and public speaking, you can find out how charities work, and we can use any existing skills and talents you have like drawing, video making etc. to influence MPs.

I’m the founder of That’s Still Rape, a non-profit challenging rape myths and their harmful impact on rape survivors. We use campaigns, media, and research to improve the public’s understanding of rape, tackle victim-blaming and debunk misinformation. Think of us as a cross between Shout Your Abortion, Hope Not Hate and the Good Law Project.
What we do:
- Change the conversation – We run campaigns and media that challenge victim-blaming.
- Publish research – We conduct research exposing the true scale of UK rape culture.
- Reform policy – We fight for legal and policy changes to improve justice outcomes for survivors.

Co-founder role:
We’re at a critical moment of growth and I’m looking for a co-founder to help scale the organisation. Together we’ll:
- Lead digital and guerrilla campaigns (petitions, rallies, research papers, billboards, and videos)
- Lead fundraising efforts (donors, grants etc.)
- Establish relationships with MPs/policymakers
- Act as a public face for the org in interviews and events, while building relationships with journalists
- Build and manage a small team (initially volunteers)
- Build internal systems and structures to support operations
Who I'm looking for:
It would be great if you had some of the following - but its not necessary:
- A track record of building things (teams, platforms, movements) from the ground up
- Experience securing funding from the public, trusts or foundations
- A network of contacts across media, campaigns or advocacy spaces
- Your digitally savvy and know how to mobilise communities online
- Knowledge of the UK political and media landscape

Headline: TikTok - Community and Content Officer
Join us at Ickle Pickles, where a small but mighty team makes a significant impact through social media. We run organic campaigns across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X, leveraging CanvaPro to maximise our reach with minimal resources. Now, we're expanding our efforts to TikTok (and possibly BlueSky) to raise awareness about prematurity and connect with new audiences. We need your expertise in resizing, adapting, and manually reposting or scheduling our content on these platforms. To enhance community engagement, your role will also involve monitoring and responding to comments and organising collaborations with our supporters on TikTok.

Our long-term goal is to become a verified charity on TikTok. Achieving this milestone requires reaching 1,000 followers, allowing us to set up fundraising initiatives on the platform.

Why does it matter?
Each year, over 90,000 babies in the UK are born sick or prematurely. Ickle Pickles is the only charity dedicated to helping hospitals raise funds for lifesaving equipment. We work with neonatal units and families affected by neonatal care across the country. By increasing our reach on TikTok, we can support more families, spread awareness of prematurity and ultimately, increase donations to fund life-saving equipment for premature and sick babies.
We’re looking for a volunteer from August 2025.
