About the role 

The Hepatitis C Trust is a charity run by and for people with lived experience. We work with people who often find it hard to get healthcare, including people living with hepatitis C. 

This role is part of a new structure within the Hepatitis C Trust and will lead the revitalisation of the Cheshire & Merseyside peer programme, ensuring it remains fit for purpose, resilient, and responsive to both community needs and funding opportunities. 

The successful candidate will drive forward a renewed vision for peer-led services across Merseyside and Cheshire—building on strong existing foundations while delivering innovation, equity, and measurable impact. This will encompass both the core Hepatitis C peer model and the peer-led Needle and Syringe Programme (NSP) alongside developing new opportunities. 

The Peer Services and Development Manager will:  

• Lead: Inspire and develop a high-performing peer and volunteer workforce, embedding patient led and inclusive practices. 

• Strategise: Design and implement innovative workforce and service strategies aligned with organisational values and national health priorities. 

• Innovate in Care: Drive excellence in hepatitis C and harm reduction services, ensuring equity, compliance, and measurable impact.

Job Purpose

We are looking for a talented, dynamic, and professional Engagement Manager to join our team in Dumfries and Galloway, working specifically in the West of the region. The right candidate would be someone who can work flexibly and demonstrate an understanding and total commitment to our organisational values. 

As our Engagement Manager, you will directly support people aged 16+ who may have complex and challenging barriers to securing a positive pathway.  This will include barrier identification and removal, supporting pre volunteering activity as well as volunteering placements in their local area. 

You will identify, develop, and manage partnerships with charitable and not-for-profit organisations across the West of Dumfries and Galloway, building an effective presence within the third sector locally.  You will create diverse, high-quality, structured volunteering opportunities with charity partner organisations, ensuring that volunteering roles reflect the needs and interests of those we support. You will also support the creation of strong referral pathways into our service, and beyond it, building on a knowledge of existing provision

• Engaging directly with people to understand their wants, needs and aspirations and determine the best opportunity for each person, and provide the support they need in advance of volunteering.

• Developing and maintaining good relationships with referral partners such as The Council, DWP, SDS etc to ensure a steady stream of referrals are received.

• Identifying, creating and developing relationships with new charity partners or agencies to provide bespoke and tailored volunteering opportunities.  These opportunities will support the individuals supported to gain experience, confidence and support them on route to a positive destination.

• Supporting with funding applications and opportunities

• Researching and engaging with partners to provide required coverage of placement sector.

• Managing the risk assessment, quality assurance and audit processes as appropriate.

• Ensuring monitoring, impact and evaluation information and data is collected and that the project meets it’s agreed targets, reporting format and schedule.  Assist the Delivery Leader by preparing reports to funders.

• Ensuring all the above is done with excellent record keeping, in accordance with compliance requirements.

• Promoting and representing Volunteering Matters and across Dumfries and Galloway.

• Contributing to the wider Volunteering Matters staff teams, upholding our values at all times.

Main purpose of post
This role is to develop and co-ordinate Buddies, a vital peer support service which
provides emotional and practical support for people living with or affected by
cancer. They are matched with a trained volunteer who has either had cancer
themselves or have cared for someone with cancer.

Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment & Management
 Work with the Volunteer Manager to recruit, train, and support a team of
volunteers to deliver one-to-one buddying support
 Provide regular supervision, ongoing training, and reflective practice
opportunities for volunteers
 Monitor volunteer wellbeing, boundaries, and satisfaction
 Maintain up-to-date volunteer records in line with GDPR and

Service Coordination
 Act as the main point of contact for referrals into the buddy service

About The Hepatitis C Trust

The Hepatitis C Trust (HCT) work with people who face severe health inequalities, including people who have hepatitis C and other health needs. With almost 500 staff and volunteers, we are the biggest lived experience organisation working in Inclusion Health in the UK. Our teams work in every community NHS area and in every prison in England, conducting outreach and providing a link between NHS services and the people they struggle to engage. We also work in parts of Scotland and Wales.

We are a leading part of the UK programmes to eliminate viral hepatitis, and we work with national and international partners to strengthen global elimination. The Museum Manager is responsible to the Board of Trustees for the overall operational management of Haslemere Education Museum. ROLE OVERVIEW:

This role is central to how we evolve our volunteering offer. The Volunteering Development Lead is responsible for designing and working with other teams to pilot new models of volunteering that help us reach more people, increase flexibility, and create meaningful opportunities for individuals to contribute in ways that suit them.

Working at the intersection of innovation, collaboration, and project delivery, the role will lead on developing new opportunities for volunteer involvement, creating training materials, and building internal capability to support new ways of volunteering. Resurrection Trading (known as Resurrection Furniture) is a vibrant friendly charity shop in Alton High Street specialising in recycled second hand furniture and home goods. We need an efficient organiser to lead our team of volunteers, manage the office and bring a creative flair to display and sales.

About us
We opened in Alton in 2017 and in 2022 moved to larger premises at 21b High Street. The charity is linked to the Parish of the Resurrection. All profits from the shop go to good causes in Alton, especially to support youth related projects, people in need, heritage buildings and the community.

The shop is a busy, friendly place supported by a skilled team of repairers in the workshop and a lively band of drivers and lifters on the van. In total we have more than 50 volunteers and the charity is led by a team of Trustees. The shop is open 10 to 4pm Monday to Saturday.

Job Summary
The Manager’s role is typical for a retail high street shop except that there is no head office or back up staff - the manager and volunteers between them carry out all functions. These include:
Daily office administration - communications especially daily emails, Facebook messages and phone calls re furniture donations and sales, discussions with volunteers.
Coordination of volunteers including induction training, support and leadership,
Organising donations – selection, collection, pricing, display and delivery.
Shop organisation, administration and reporting to Trustees including publicity
 

Key Responsibilities:

Office Administration
• Deal promptly with shop communications via telephone, emails, Facebook and in person each day relating to donations, sales, and messages from volunteers
• Maintain data including personnel and customer information, finance and other record keeping.
• Manage the system of agreeing furniture donations, arranging collections from and deliveries to homes around Alton and booking slots on the van.
• Order shop supplies and maintain health and safety systems
• Manage gift aid documentation and other notices.
• Liaise with the workshop team, the van team, the Parish monthly market and Trustees

Volunteer Coordination
• Manage the volunteer rota ensuring that the shop is staffed by two to three volunteers including a lead volunteer per shift six days per week.
• Support the Trustee who manages the van rota currently four mornings per week depending on demand.
• Identify and recruit new volunteers as necessary, organise induction and regular training especially relating to health and safety, cash management and shop and van routine.
• Frequently communicate with volunteers in person, via the notice board, email and newsletter on shop organisation, sales new personnel and events.
• Liaise with lead volunteers regularly on organisation and volunteer issues.

Managing donations and sales
• In conjunction with volunteers decide on items to be accepted based on quality, saleability, existing stock from photos and other information.
• Value items not already priced by volunteers using the RF pricing guide and on-line apps.
• Ensure the shop is full of a wide range of items with back up stock kept in the store offsite.
• Promote donations via estate agents, care homes, general publicity and regular house clearances

Shop organisation
• Arrange for regular updating of shop and window displays
• Keep the shop and workshop clean and a safe environment
• Ensure that volunteers follow RF policies and procedures
• Ensure good customer relations including dealing with complaints
• Publicity including a newsletter and Facebook and website pages
