Uprising Youth and Community is a growing Christian youth work charity with over 10 years of experience in Ashford. We are seeking a passionate and proactive Youth and Community Work Co-Ordinator to support the delivery of two key projects:

We’re recruiting a fundraiser and project development manager to build on our creative, award-winning work addressing climate change and fuel poverty in practical, tangible ways. 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who shares our vision of a different energy future: one in which energy is generated renewably and used sustainably whilst leaving no one behind in the journey. We are looking for someone who understands the energy sector and the unique role that a community energy group can play in the energy transition. It is a role for someone who can imagine community solutions to energy sector issues and to translate these into fundable projects. 

Your role will be to work with our board of Directors and staff to come to an understanding of our mission and values and our strategic priorities and develop and resource projects that will enable us to meet those priorities filling gaps in provision. In a practical sense, you will work with stakeholders e.g. our staff, our members, local community groups, local authorities and clients to generate ideas for future projects. The direction of travel should be broadly determined by our recent strategic review.

You will work closely with our CEO and our Board of Directors to prioritise project ideas. You will develop partnerships, refine project ideas, identify sources of funding (Trusts and Grantmakers, Corporate Giving), draft bids and cost delivery on a full cost recovery basis, submit bids and if funding is awarded, mobilise the team to deliver the work. This role provides a big and exciting challenge for someone who knows the energy sector, understands the opportunity of community and grassroots solutions, who brings excellent written communication skills and is willing to learn how to fundraise.

Responsibilities:

Grant Fundraising Support:

• Work with the Selce community (the board, staff, volunteers and other stakeholders) to generate new project ideas that support our strategic mission 
• Research and identify potential grant-making trusts, foundations, and statutory bodies that will fund project proposals
• Prepare high-quality grant applications; this includes calculating budget requirements, formulating proposals, writing proposals
• Manage the grant administration process and maintain accurate records of funding opportunities and applications in the fundraising calendar.

Commissioned Work & Tendering Support:

• Assist in researching and identifying opportunities for commissioned work.
• Support the preparation of tender documents and proposals, including gathering necessary information, budgeting and formatting submissions.
• Provide administrative support for contract negotiation and agreement finalisation.

Community Share Capital

• Draft community share offer brochures and associated documentation
• Support the implementation of strategies to raise community share capital.
• Assist in planning and executing share offer campaigns, including preparing marketing materials and organising investor events.
• Help manage investor communications and data, ensuring compliance with cooperative principles and financial regulations.

Develop and Maintain Relationships

• Assist in building and nurturing relationships with funders, commissioners, and community investors through effective communication.
• Support the organisation’s representation at external events and networking opportunities.

Skills & Experience:

The ability to imagine and innovate and thereby build fundable project-based solutions working in partnership with stakeholders is more important that fundraising experience per se. This post would suit an Energy Policy graduate that has experience of either community energy or journalism (and therefore brings strong writing skills) or environmental projects

• Knowledge of the Energy Sector: Understand the energy markets and the energy industry. Also bring a good understanding of community energy, fuel poverty, and energy efficiency
• Strong Writing Skills: Ability to write clear, concise, and compelling content for proposals, reports, and communications.
• Research & Analytical Skills: Capable of conducting thorough research 
• Excell Skills: Excellent Excel skills and the ability to calculate project budgets
• Organisational & Administrative Skills: Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, capable of managing multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
• Communication and relationship management: Good interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• IT Proficiency: Competent in using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) 
• Passion for Mission: A genuine commitment to the values and mission of a charitable cooperative focused on energy transition and social impact.
Desirable:
• Fundraising Experience: Some demonstrable experience in fundraising activities, ideally within a charity or non-profit setting.
• Understanding of cooperative finance models or experience with community share offers.

The Media team strategically leads on both proactive and reactive media, supporting WaterAid’s fundraising, partnerships, brand awareness and political influencing & systems change strategic priorities. The team works with Country Programmes and work on global media outreach with WaterAid Member Offices, operate a 24/7 media hotline and manages areas of reputational risk.

About the opportunity

We're in a fantastic position to have recently partnered with the Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) for an evaluation of our programmes. 

We are now recruiting for a Programme Coordinator for our schools in Dorset (Sturminster Newton, Ferndown, Blandford Forum and Shaftesbury).

• The South West Programme Coordinator oversees a caseload of up to seven partner schools. They manage the logistics and organisation of each school’s tutoring programme, working closely with the schools and pupils and managing the pool of volunteer tutors. They attend the weekly tutoring sessions at each school, as well as overseeing the quality of face to face and online tutoring, always working to deliver a great impact.
• The South West Programme Coordinator supports the recruitment of volunteer tutors, manages the tutor sign up process, develops relationships with schools including their Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers, collects data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, and works with other internal teams on business development opportunities.

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for the delivery of Action Tutoring’s tutoring programmes in partner schools, whether online or face to face. This includes working closely to manage all key stakeholders: schools, pupils and volunteer tutors; regularly attending weekly tutoring sessions; leading on reviewing and improving programme delivery, using data to reliably assess programme performance.
• Responsible for overseeing the quality of tutoring, engaging in quality assurance processes, and providing feedback to volunteer tutors to ensure effective and impactful delivery. Provide regular check-ins with tutors to ensure ample support and guidance is given to provide targeted tuition to pupils.
• Develop and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders in partner schools, including members of the Senior Leadership Team and subject teachers. Maintain clear and timely communication with relevant school staff, offering regular check-ins with key school stakeholders, and contribute to impact reporting to schools. Supporting the Programme Manager with strategies to retain and sustain school partnerships.
• Update and accurately maintain Action Tutoring’s database, including collecting timely data for monitoring and evaluation purposes, such as attendance records, baseline and interim assessments and pupil surveys. Reporting regularly on key performance indicators to key stakeholders and using them to enhance programme delivery. Work with the Programme Manager on business development, approaching new schools that might be interested in working with Action Tutoring.
• Proactively report to the Programme Manager on the details of Action Tutoring’s operations in their partner schools.

The nature of this role will also require you to demonstrate adaptability, resilience and the ability to cope with some uncertainty. 
 

This position would suit you if you’re looking to develop your experience in the education or charity sectors. Existing experience of working with young people and/or project management in a charity or education setting would be an asset. About Chapter One

Chapter One is a dynamic, growing charity with a vision of a world in which all children have the literacy skills needed to thrive. Our mission is to close the reading gap by providing children with one-to-one support at the time they need it most. 

Our unique Online Reading Volunteer programme currently supports over 3,200 children a year. It pairs disadvantaged, struggling five to eight-year old (KS1) readers with reading support volunteers who come from over 160 local and national businesses. The volunteer ask is very focused: readers commit 30 minutes a week to read with a child using a bespoke digital platform for an entire academic year. About the Role

The Finance Assistant has responsibility for a variety of finance functions including the purchase and sales ledger, making payments to suppliers, invoicing Corporate Partners and Schools and reconciling bank accounts. They support the day to day running of the Finance Team ensuring that tasks such as posting invoices, reconciling customer accounts, supporting credit control and chasing non-payments are carried out in a timely and accurate fashion. 

The Finance Assistant reports to and works closely with the Head of Finance and plays a critical role in resolving finance queries from Chapter One colleagues, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting internal processes and contributing to the effective financial management of Chapter One. 

This role is ideal for someone who has experience in a similar position within a finance team and has good working knowledge of accounting principles and a basic understanding of income for charities. They will work remotely and will need to have access to a reliable internet connection. This role is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, and the post-holder must be permanently based in the UK at the time of applying and for the duration of their employment.

All Chapter One employees are required to attend quarterly in-person staff meetings held in various locations across the UK (all expenses covered) as well as monthly all staff virtual meetings which are held on the first Wednesday of each month from 12:00 - 13:00; participation is mandatory.

In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

The Lead Coach is primarily responsible for overseeing the training room and group sessions with young people. You will help shape the training environment and will confidently adapt and deliver materials and sessions to work within the group’s development towards work readiness.

Delivery of Spear Programme - Group and 1:1 coaching [60%]

• Preparing and coaching Spear Foundation sessions and 1-1s, ensuring that young people are engaged, retained and work-ready by the end of this initial phase of the programme
• Building relationships with young people on the programme and managing culture, and attitudes in the training room
• Adapting the Spear coaching material according to the needs of the Trainees and managing behaviour effectively

• Developing relationships with Job Centres and local referral agencies to ensure that the maximum number of Spear Trainees are enrolled on each programme. This involves liaising with referral agencies, active face-to-face recruitment and monitoring recruitment statistics

Active participation in and support for church team and mission

• As the Spear programme is run in partnership with a local church partner, you will establish a strong personal connection with the church to develop the engagement and backing of church members and help build a strong network of supporters for the Spear programme. About the role

We are seeking a Dual Diagnosis Worker who has a specialism in complex mental health and substance misuse to join our team in Croydon. This is a residential service which provides specialist mental health, complex needs, and dual diagnosis support to our residents. You will utilise your previous experience and knowledge, and provide specialist support to those who have been diagnosed with mental ill health and have challenges with substance use. You will deliver evidence-based interventions based on holistic assessments to support personalised recovery, integration, and promotion of independent living skills.

Within this role, you will act as a specialist for comorbidity, supporting the team to achieve positive outcomes for our residents. Some of the duties may include:

• Undertake joint holistic assessments, risk assessments, care plans, and interventions to support harm reduction and minimisation.
• Set up realistic and flexible strengths-based support plans, working closely with colleagues and support teams to support and advise on interventions and approaches to meet individual needs.
• Help reduce episodes of crisis and assist residents/participants to access services which can offer alternatives to crisis support.
• Work closely with support staff and clinical teams to support and advise them on interventions and approaches to meet resident/participant comorbid, complex mental health and substance misuse needs.
• Support multi-disciplinary teams and the wider community teams with support, advice, signposting, and move on care planning. 

About you

We’re looking for someone who has specialist knowledge on how to support individuals with comorbid and complex needs, with previous experience in a similar role. We look at individual characteristics to be able to show resilience, solve challenges, and be proactive in your approach. You will have a passion for supporting people to achieve their personal goals, and achieve positive outcomes, this includes having the ability to engage with people who may be hard to reach and engage with. We further are looking for someone who has:

• An appropriate qualification which is relevant to the role which could include: National Diploma, Bachelors, or master’s in psychology, Dual Diagnosis, Substance Misuse or any relevant

Key responsibilities

1. Fundraising

• To be the first point of contact for all fundraising enquiries that come in by telephone, email, post, and in person.
• Support the team by recording and sending fundraising materials to those raising money for us through events and challenge event.
• Ensure communications such as letters, certificates and emails are processed in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Provide support to the events, community, partnerships, and individual giving teams and their programmes of activity.
• To develop a good understanding of fundraising activity and to maintain the processes behind registration and online giving platforms such as JustGiving, Benevity, CAF, MuchLoved etc.
• Monitoring and replenishment of office supplies.

3. Stewardship

4. Information Management and other

• Using the fundraising database (Donorfy) ensure all activity and correspondence is recorded accurately, as well as supporting our team’s financial processes and data export needs (training will be provided).
• Be responsible for ensuring all records are added/maintained/updated on the fundraising database, and ensuring all contact preferences such as unsubscribes are updated accurately and in a timely manner.
• To develop an in-depth knowledge of the database to be the go-to person, and identify opportunities to support your own activity and that of the team.
• Continuously aim to improve the efficiency of administration processes necessary for the smooth running of the fundraising department.
• Create/update how-to guides within your area of responsibility.

The post-holder will offer specialist legal advice services and provide representation for residents of the London boroughs facing eviction and homelessness. IKWRO - Women’s Rights Organisation is a registered charity (number 1151507) which supports Middle Eastern women and girls living in the UK who are facing “honour” based violence, forced marriage, domestic violence or female genital mutilation.

As well as providing support to individual women and girls, we run training for professionals and campaigns for better laws and policies to protect women’s rights.
