Hope Place is a new supported accommodation service located in Slough comprising 10 self contained rooms with a staff office on site. The service accommodates and support people who experience moderate to high complex mental illness, many of whom will also have a range of additional and complex needs, for example drug and alcohol misuse issues and personality disorders.
Hope Place provides care and support for 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including Bank Holidays. The service is covered at night by designated Waking Night staff. Support Workers will be required to work on a rota basis, covering early and late shifts, including at weekends and Bank Holidays.
The service has a focus on enabling and utilise customers' skills. Amongst other responsibilities, the successful candidates will support service users to acquire tenancy sustainment and budgeting skills, encourage and facilitate group activities, socialisation, opportunities for training and employment.
Waking Night Support Workers enable people with particular needs to manage their tenancies and live independent lives of their choosing in the community. Night Support Workers are responsible for ensuring continuity of a support service at night and for keeping customers and the building safe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Building supportive, trusting relationships with customers and creating a positive atmosphere

About the role
The role provides residents with complex needs a personalised case management support to help them be reconnected, turning assessments into a practical action plan which fully involves the resident. They will ensure that the work they do is properly recorded and as appropriate is entered clearly onto CHAIN.
About you
To be successful in this role you will need to have a demonstrable level of experience and understanding of the range of approaches appropriate to working with challenging behaviour including current drug /or alcohol use, antisocial behaviour, offending, substance misuse, and complex needs. You will also need good IT skills (particularly Microsoft Office packages) and an awareness of issues facing single people that experience homelessness or rough sleeping. A proven track record working within local authority, volunteering, independent, charity or a social housing association is also a real advantage.
It would be an advantage if you had a full current driving license and a successful track record in developing services in response to changing needs and demands.
Key skills:
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of people at all levels, maintaining professional boundaries
- Ability to interpret and communicate the meaning of legislation, policy, guidance, research, and information on best practice
- Sound knowledge and understanding of the issues affecting supported housing and vulnerable customer groups
- Qualifications relevant to supporting vulnerable adults
This position does require an ability and willingness to work shifts including evenings, weekends, and waking night shifts on a rota basis.

The Role:
This is a fantastic opportunity within the Project, your role will be based within our newly refurbished Centre where you will manage a caseload of service users who may have complex needs and challenging behaviour. You will provide Advice, Guidance and information (IAG) to vulnerable adults and holistic support to address their needs within a psychologically informed environment.
Part of your role will also include Coordinating and facilitating our Drop-in Service for rough sleepers, providing them with a range of services including food provision; laundry; showers; clothing and nurses clinics.
You will have the opportunity to be part of a service which will really make a difference to women’s lives and have the privilege to see them grow in confidence and skills.
Key Tasks:
- Provide a high quality, person centred service to homeless women with a range of low to high needs within a Psychological informed environment.
- Provide holistic support to a caseload of rough sleeping women who access the Centre, signposting service users to the relevant services that will address their needs.
- Assist in the provision of our rough sleepers Drop – in within a safe, secure, trauma informed environment. Meeting the basic needs of the clients by providing food, warmth, shelter, showering facilities, meaningful activities and a safe place to sleep.
- Produce person centred and high-quality documents for a caseload of clients including risk assessments, support plans and referrals relating to their needs. This includes and is not limited to; housing, employment, health and financial needs.
- Provide up to date housing advice and guidance to low-to-high support service users. Signposting them to the relevant specialist services in order for them to access stable accommodation.
- Provide tenancy management and support for residents in the Emergency Beds.
The successful candidate will:
- Have working experience of supporting clients with Mental Health and/or Complex Needs.
- Have experience of providing Advice, Guidance and information (IAG) to vulnerable adults.
- Possess excellent communication and time management skills.
- Be willing and able to work flexibly to meet the needs of the women.
Must have:
1-year minimum paid experience of working with vulnerable people and those with complex needs in an Advice and Guidance or Support Worker role (or equivalent).

The Progression Coach (Nights) role:
We have an opportunity for an experienced Progression Coach to work waking nights at our supported accommodation project, Shaw Heath.
In this role, you will be responsible for all aspects of the support planning, risk assessment and move-on for a small caseload of 4-5 residents, addressing their physical, emotional, social and behavioural needs.
You will lone work during the nights, including bank holidays to ensure that residents have full staff support during their most difficult times.
Rota: Shift pattern including evenings, weekends and bank holidays
